Objective To study the TCM syndrome distribution and characteristics of pregnant patients with cold in Panzhihua region; To provide evidence for prevention and treatment of this disease. Methods Totally 107 pregnant patients with cold were analyzed to obtain TCM syndrome data and summarize the distribution and characteristics of this disease. Results The syndromes of 107 cases of pregnancy cold, from high to low were sore throat (64.49%), thirst (62.62%), nasal congestion (61.68%), cough (59.81%), runny nose (55.15%), and defense phase symptoms such as sore throat, thirst and nasal congestion were obvious. The main TCM syndrome was wind-heat syndrome, accounting for 82.24%. The incidence rates of early pregnancy (<12weeks), midtrimester pregnancy (13-27 weeks), and late pregnancy (>28 weeks) were 32.71% (35/107), 44.86% (48/107), and 22.43% (24/107), respectively. The incidence rates of early pregnancy and midtrimester pregnancy were higher than that of late pregnancy (P<0.05). The incidence rates were 53.27% (57/107) in spring and summer and 46.73% (50/107) in autumn and winter, with statistical significance (P<0.01). The incidence of wind-heat syndrome in spring and summer was 62.5% (55/88),Conclusion The most common syndrome in pregnancy cold was wind-heat syndromes. The most common characteristics were warm, hot and dry. Early or middle pregnant patients were more likely to catch cold in spring and summer. The syndrome distribution and characteristics were relevant to local environment and climate factors.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) on cardiomyocyte apoptosis following renal ischemia-reperfusion injury(RIRI) in rats.MethodsThirty-six male SD rats weighing 250-280 g were randomly divided into 3 groups ( n =12 each): group sham operation (group S) ; group I/R and group I/R + ALA ( group L).The model of RIRI was produced by occlusion of renal artery and vein for 45 min followed by 24 h reperfusion,in group S the renal pedicles were exposed but not occluded. In group L ALA infusion (30 mg/kg) was given via tail vein at 20 mln before ischemia and at 20 min before reperfusion, while in group I/R the equal volume of solution (35% polyethylene glycol + 60% physiological saline + 5% ethanol) was infused instead of ALA.The animals were saerificed at the end of 24 h of reperfusion, blood samples were taken for detecting concentrations of serum creatinine (Cr) and malondialdehyde (MDA).Then the hearts were immediately removed for determination of SOD activity,MDA content, cardiomyocyte apoptosis (flow cytometry) and Bcl-2/Bax ratio (immunohistology).ResultsSerum Cr concentration, serum and myocardium MDA levels and cardiomyocyte apoptosis were significantly increased after RIRI in groups I/R and L as compared with group S ( P < 0.05).ALA treatment significantly decreased serum Cr concentration, serum and myocardium MDA levels, cardiomyocyte apoptosis and increased SOD activity and Bcl-2/Bax ratio ( P < 0.05).ConclusionALA can attenuate myocardium injury by inhibiting cardiomyocyte apoptosis following RIRI in rats.

Objective To investigate the significance of T-bet and GATA-3 in the pathogenesis of pityriasis rosea. Methods SYBR Green Ⅰ real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was performed to detect the expressions of T-bet and GATA-3 mRNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from 17 patients with pityriasis rosea and 20 normal human controls. Results The average delta Ct value of T-bet mRNA and GATA-3 mRNA was 3.33 ± 0.94 and 5.22 ± 0.69 respectively in the patients,4.31 ± 1.11 and 4.36 ± 1.02respectively in the controls. There was a higher expression of T-bet mRNA but a lower expression of GATA-3 mRNA in the patients compared with the controls (both P < 0.05).Conclusions Patients with pityriasis rosea show an increased ratio of T-bet to GATA3 expression and predominant expression of Th1-type cytokines.Abnormal cellular immunity may play an important role in the pathogenesis of pityriasis rosea.
