Objective:To evaluate the results of treating Perthes disease by pelvic osteotomy and internal fixation with self-reinforced absorbable (SR-PLLA) rods. Methods:50 cases of Perthes disease(53 hips) were involved. According to Herring classification, there were 16 hips of type B ?5 hips of type B/C and 32 hips of type C. All patients were treated by pelvic osteotomy(Chiari)and internal fixation with self-reinforced absorbable (SR-PLLA) rods. Results:All cases were followed up for 2 months to 18 months, with an average of 6 months. All cutting bone was healed. There was no bacterial wound infection or sterile inflammatory foreign-body reaction. Failure of fixation was only occurred in one case. Bone union was seen 6 weeks to 12 weeks, with an average of 8 weeks. All patients restored normal hip joint function and had no pain. Conclusion:This operative technique is simple and can achieve reliable fixation. It can improve bone healing with a reduced healing time and avoid secondary a removal operation. This surgical procedure is an effective way to treat cutting pelvis in Perthes disease.

The adverse effects on the ocular surface caused by long-term antiglaucomatous medications or filtering surgery have been documented by many researchers.However,in our clinical work emphasis on this issue is far from enough.Both antiglaucomatous drugs and filtering surgery can cause tear film dysfunction and conjunctival or corneal epithelium damage,which is the main cause of glaucomatous patients'ocular uncomfortable complaints.Early diagnosis and prompt management of the ocular surface dysfunction is of great importance for us to improve patients' local tolerance and decrease their ocular uncomfortable symptoms.

The hemodynamics of ocular artery (OA) and central retinal artery(CRA)in normal persons and patients (102 eyes, respectively)with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) were studied with color Doppler image technique. The results showed that average values of peak systolic flow velocity (Vmax), the end-diastolic flow velocity (Vmin) and the mean flow velocity (Vmeau)for the OA and CRA in glau-comatous patients we^e much lower than that in normal persons. Quantum dots( QDs) as a new type of nanostructured luminescent materials have been widely used in biology, materials science, and physical optics. QD-based biosensors can rapidly and accurately detect biological macromolecules or inorganic molecules both in vivo and in vitro. The surface of QDs, prior to their biological detection applications, needed to be modified to enhance their fluorescence properties and lower their biological toxicity. Currently, the surface modification technologies mainly include polymer modification, thiol compounds modification, mercapto propionic acid compounds modification and organic groups modification. Various biosensors can be developed by adopting different modification techniques, which have been adopted to locate and track a variety of biological molecules in vivo. Although a large number of literatures have reported the biological applications of QD-based biosensors, rare systematic reviews of surface modification technologies on QDs have been witnessed. In this paper, we reviewed the surface modification technologies of QDs in biosensors and their medical applications.

BACKGROUND:The hedgehog pathway has paid an important role in the progress of chondrogenesis from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. However, the definite signal transduction pathway and cross-talking relationship with other common signal pathways are stil poorly understood and the researches related to this field is to continue as a hotspot in the future study. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the research progress of hedgehog signal pathway on the regulation of the chondrogenesis from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and the relationship between hedgehog and other signal pathways in the process. METHODS:A computer-based online search in CNKI, PubMed and Google Scholar databases was performed using key words of“Hedgehog, IHH, SHH, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, cartilage, chondrogenesis”in English and Chinese, respectively. Literatures related to the process of chondrogenesis from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were included and 36 articles were extensively summarized for review. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells are currently accepted optimal cellseeds for the cartilage tissue engineering, and hedgehog is a critical signal molecule in the development of skeletal system. The IHH and SHH in hedgehog signal closely participate in control ing the processes of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cellproliferation and chondrogenesis, chondrocyte phenotype maintenance and cooperation with other common single pathways. However, the specific signal transduction mechanism and cross-talking contact with other signal pathways stil need to be further studied, and it stands for the future research directions.

The doctor-patient relationship is always the focus in the society. The relationship seems more complex and sensitive in the pediatric surgical ward because its patients are kids. However, the pediatric surgical residents' ability of doctor-patient communication is lack of systemic and norma-tive training, which is not good for the mutual understanding between doctors and patients. This study explores how to enhance the residents' doctor-patient communication skills from the perspective of awareness, professional knowledge and some specific skills. In the meantime, it discusses the need to train the teachers and set up a regular examination-assessment system.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second largest cause of cancer deaths worldwide.TLRs signal transduction pathways are related to the progress of HCC.As an innate immune recognition receptors on the surface of the cell,TLRs are involved in the ligand-mediated activation of various cells and the secretion of cytokines in liver through signal transduction,which is part of the cause and development of HCC.A better understanding of TLRs and these signaling pathways in the liver will help us understand the mechanism of hepatocarcinogenesis and provide a new therapeutic target for HCC.

Through discussing the traditional medical ethics culture and medical ethics,this paper pointed out the main problems in the teaching practice of medical ethics:it did not well handle the relationship between the inheritance of traditional culture and the absorption of foreign culture;it emphasized too much on the learning of analysis methods and tools of ethical problems but ignored the cultivation of personality and morality;the teaching curriculum of medical ethics is unreasonable.This paper discussed the similarities and differences between medical ethics and traditional ethics culture,gasped the common essence of ethics,and put forward to better improve the teaching of medical ethics through the construction of basic theory system,the settings and perfection of curriculum system,the construction and improvement of the curriculum evaluation system,and the inheritance of traditional medical ethics cultural.

Biochemistry is an essential course for medical students,which updates fast,develops quickly and has strong characteristic of experimentation.Opening experiment is a new open type experimental teaching mode and students are regarded as main body.Opening experiment is helpful to stimulating activeness and cultivating innovative consciousness of students as an effective supplement for traditional experimental teaching.This kind of teaching mode is in conformance with experimental teaching reform in university and is an effective way of cultivating medical science talented men.
