Gait recognition is a new technology in biometric recognition and medical treatment which has advantages such as long-distance and non-invasiveness. Depending on the differences between different people's walking pos tures, we can recognize individuals by characteristics extracted from the images of walking movement. A complete gait recognition process usually includes gait sequence acquisition, gait detection, feature extracting and recognition. In this paper, the commonly used methods of these four processes are introduced, and feature extraction methods are classified from different multi-angle views. And then the new algorithm of multi-view emerged in recent years is highlighted. In addition, this paper summarizes the existing difficulties of gait recognition, and looks into the future development trends of it.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2000;0(11):-
Objective Three soluble materials were used as carrier of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2(rhBMP-2) in order to seek suitable slow-release carrier of rhBMP-2,which induced neogenetic cartilage in canine tracheal autografting segment. Methods 32 mongrel dogs were randomly and equally divided into 4 groups.A five-ring cervical tracheal segment was harvested as the autograft. The materials including dextran, polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP) and collagen were respectively combined with equal rhBMP-2 and then injected into the soft tissues between cartilaginous rings of autografts. In addition, without carrier group was used as controls. Then the autografts were heterotopically transplanted into greater omentum. The animals were sacrificed at postoperative 4 weeks, and the postmortem specimens were examined grossly and histologically. Results Cartilage rings of the grafts were partly absorbed in all four groups.New cartilage was induced in the rhBMP-2 injected area in the groups in which PVP or collagen was used as carrier, and more new cartilage was observed in the collagen group. Conclusions PVP and collagen could be sustained as release carriers for rhBMP-2 in tracheal autograft.Collagen is more effective as a carrier than other vehicles and it could enhance the ability of rhBMP-2 inducing cartilage regeneration in tracheal transplantation.

BACKGROUND:Excessive mechanical stimulation can lead to endoplasmic reticulum stress. Endoplasmic reticulum stress plays an important role in the occurrence and development of degenerative diseases. Caspase-12 is a specific molecule of endoplasmic reticulum stress, and the intensity of endoplasmic reticulum stress can be reflected by caspase-12 expression. OBJECTIVE:To observe the expression rule of Caspase-12 in chondrocytes under the cyclic tensile stress. METHODS:Human chondrocytes were used as test subjects. After group assignment, mechanical loading system was used. The loading group and corresponding Z-ATAD-FMK inhibitor group received 2, 12, 24, 36, and 48 hours of mechanical stimulation. The blank group (0 hour) and the paired Z-ATAD-FMK inhibitor group received the same process as the loading group except the loading. After loading, cel morphology and growth were observed under the microscope. RT-PCR and western blot assay were used to detect the expression changes of caspase-12 gene and protein in each group. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Morphological observation results demonstrated that apoptosis appeared at 2 hours after loading, peaked at 24 hours. With prolonged time, cel growth showed the trend along stress, but apoptosis weakened. It is indicated that cyclic tensile stress could make chondrocyte apoptosis. Endoplasmic reticulum stress might be activated. The model of cel s in vitro was established successful y. (2) Caspase-12 gene and protein expression showed consistent trend, and peaked at 24 hours, which showed significant differences as compared with the blank and inhibitor groups (P<0.05). (3) Cyclic tensile stress can induce chondrocyte endoplasmic reticulum stress, and affect caspase-12 expression.

Journal of Geriatric Cardiology 2010;07(3):138-142
Objective Several previous studies have shown androgens deficiency in men with CHF, and 2 studies on the prognostic significance of serum levels of androgens in CHF patients have yielded conflicting results. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between serum concentration of testosterone and mortality in men with systolic CHF. Methods A total of 175 elderly (age≥60 years) men with CHF were recruited. Total testosterone (TT) and sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) were measured, and free serum testosterone (eFT) was calculated. The median follow-up time was 1262 days. Results During follow-up 54 (30.9%) patients died. TT and eFT deficiency was found in 21.7% (38/175) and 27.4% (48/175) patients, respectively. Both TT and eFT were inversely associated with LVEF and NT-proBNP (all P<0.01). Kaplan-Meier curves for patients in low, medium and high tertiles according to TT and eFT level showed significantly different cumulative survival rate (both P<0.01 by log-rank test). However, after adjustment for clinical variables, there were no significant associations between either TT or eFT levels or survival time (OR=0.97, 95% CI, 0.84-1.12, P=0.28; and OR=0.92, 95% CI, 0.82-1.06, P=0.14, respectively). Conclusion Our study showed that although levels of TT and eFT are commonly decreased in elderly patients with systolic CHF and related to disease severity, they are not independent predictors for mortality.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2014;(12):2284-2288
[ ABSTRACT] Diabetes is characterized by an absolute or relative deficiency inβ-cell mass, which cannot be re-versed with existing therapeutic strategies. The restoration of the endogenous islet β-cells can stabilize the level of blood glucose. The isletβ-cells can be obtained from the directional differentiation of stem cells, but the process is complex and has the risk of teratomas generation.Cell direct reprogramming, one terminal differentiated cell can transdifferentiate into another kind of terminal differentiated cell, which is other than directional differentiation from stem cells.Direct reprogram-ming gives rise to the generation of isletβ-cells from one terminal differentiated cell, may be preferable for diabetes therapy because of its unique advantage.
