Objective:To investigate the association between polymorphisms of estrogen receptor ? (ER?) gene (rs3020444) and perimenopausal syndrome (PS) in patients with liver qi stagnation syndrome (LQSS). Metheds:The ER?T/C genotype in 100 patients of PS of LQSS type (PS-LQSS group),86 patients of PS of non-LSDS type (PS-non-LQSS group) and 100 healthy subjects (control) was determined by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) assay. Results:Partitions of ?2 method showed that the higher prevalence of ER?-TT genotypes was noted in PS-LQSS group (?2=8.307,P=0.004),and the higher prevalence of T alleles was noted in PS-LQSS group (?2=7.129,P=0.008). and Multinomial logistic-regression indicated that the odds ratios (OR) of the ER?-TT genotypes vs TC/CC for PS-LQSS was 2.222 (95%CI:1.172-4.744,P=0.015) after adjusting for common miscellaneous factors. Conclusions:It was suggested that ER?-TT genotypes was significantly associated with PS-LQSS,and ESR?-TT may be one of the genes that contribute to PS-LQSS.

OBJECTIVETo detect the mutation sites of exons 2, 20, 11A and 11B in Chinese patients with breast cancer.

METHODSA total of 86 patients with breast cancer without blood relationship were randomly selected. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and double-strand DNA direct sequencing were applied.

RESULTSNo mutations, especially deletions were found in exons 2, 20 and 11 with carefully checking the sequencing results, although they were reported frequently in Europe populations with breast cancer. We found one polymorphism in exon 11, with high frequency, and in the test of chi-square, the frequencies of two alleles had no significant difference between the patients and controls.

CONCLUSIONThe above results suggest this SNP may not be associated with the breast cancer in Chinese population, and indicates that the gene sequence of what we have studied doesn't account much for occurrence of the breast cancer in the population of China.

From the perspective of systems science， it is believed that the health status in traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） is a collection of dynamic changes caused by the continuous mutual movement and exchange of material and energy between the giant system of human beings and the environment， and the accurate identification of this is helpful to understand the common characteristics as well as the development and evolution rules the human body. It is suggested to identify TCM health status based on gut microbiota characteristics， take systems science research method in combination with partial order structure theory to quantify and utilize the information carried by gut microbiota， and use gut microbiota information as a component of micro-parameters to identify TCM health status， thereby supplementing and improving the identification system of TCM health status. The combination of systems science and TCM will further the study of life and provide ideas for studying TCM health status from the perspective of system.

The essence of asymptomatic syndrome differenciation is that the disease is in a special stage or state. To perform traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） diagnosis when there was no symptoms for differentiation is a key scientific issue in current TCM diagnosis and treatment. The reasons include limitations in doctor-patient behaviors and relationships， as well as limitations in cognitive thinking. To address such situations， the following strategies can be adopted from a thinking perspective，i.e. grasping the occurrence and development of diseases based on a holistic concept， using dialectical thinking to summarize the laws of diseases， integrating clinical practice with experiential thinking， and introducing new thinking modes through interdisciplinary collaboration. These strategies help TCM practitioners make accurate diagnoses in the absence of obvious symptoms， thereby providing better medical services for patients.

The microcosmic syndrome differentiation is expounded from the the trinity life view of the body， qi， and spirit. This article analysed the relationship between micro-indicators and body， qi and spirit， considering that the abnormalities of micro-indicators in pathological states involve three different levels in terms of body， qi and spirit， and may reflect the degree of malfunction of body， qi and spirit and the dynamic changes of the focus during different pathological processes.Accordingly， based on the syndrome differentiation and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine， it is proposed that the macroscopic and the microscopic， the local and the whole， as well as the imbalance of body， qi and spirit reflected by microscopic and macroscopic indicators at different stages of disease should be combined to determine the corresponding treatment， thereby restoring the “harmony of body and spirit” of the human body.
