5.Relationship of Conflict Management Style, Professional Autonomy, Role Conflict and Organizational Commitment of Nurses in General Hospitals
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration 2018;24(5):387-395
PURPOSE: The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between types of conflict management style, role conflict, professional autonomy and organizational commitment of hospital nurses, and to identify factors influencing organizational commitment. METHODS: Participants were 165 conveniently selected nurses from one general hospital in Gangwon province. Data were collected from March 28 to April 6, 2018 using self-report questionnaires. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in the level of professional autonomy and organizational commitment depending on the nurses' styles of conflict management. A statistically significant positive correlation between professional autonomy and organizational commitment was found, and a negative correlation between environmental barriers in role conflict and organizational commitment. Participants' professional autonomy and environmental barriers in role conflict explained 17.9% of organizational commitment. CONCLUSION: These finding indicate that professional autonomy and environmental barriers are both very important factors influencing organizational commitment. Accordingly, it is necessary to improve nurses' organizational commitment, enhance autonomy and reduce environmental barriers for nurses performing nursing roles.

Korean Journal of Rehabilitation Nursing 2003;6(2):239-247
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to examine how well patients who had hip arthroplasty comply with medical regimens given to them after the operation. METHOD: The subjects of the study were patients who had arthroplasty at P Hospital between April 1. 2001 and August 30, 2002. 20 patients of the subjects experienced complications after the operation and the other 20 did not. Data from a survey using the qustionnaire were statistically analyzed in terms of real number, percentage point, mean and standard deviation by using chi2test. t-test and ANOVA. RESULT: 1) the surveyed patients were significantly different in the compliance of medical regimen among them according to their education background as one of the subjects general characteristics. 2) It was found that the group of complication was higher in the compliance of medical regimen than that of non-complication. The two groups showed statistically significant difference with each other in the degree of compliance with therapeutic instructions than the experimental group in terms of the maintenance of abduction after the operation, training instructions on step-by-step basis, urination cotrol on bed, accurate use of crutch, compliance with medication, balance among medical treatment, training, leisure, rest and nutrition. instructions by physicians, nurses and physical therapists, use of low armchairs and toilet bowels and no bending of the body forward, and use of a non-operated leg in case of go upstairs or downstairs. CONCLUSION: It seems necessary to develop systematic and sessional education programs for improving the compliance of medical regimen. ultimately reducing complications following hip arthroplasty.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2006;47(10):1703-1707
PURPOSE: Metastatic carcinoma of the eye is a common sequela of widespread dissemination of malignancy. Metastasis to the iris is less frequent than that of the cilliary body and choroid. We report a case of iris metastasis in a patient with non-small cell lung cancer. METHODS: 57-Year-Old man was seen in the department of ophthalmology because of blurred vision in his right eye for seven days. The patient had a metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer in the brain. Trabeculectomy and iridectomy were performed due to secondary glaucoma. RESULTS: The case was diagnosed as iris metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer by the clinical and histopathologic findings.

The Korean Journal of Parasitology 1986;24(1):12-14
Effectiveness of flubendazole, a newly introduced as an anthelmintic in Korea, was evaluated in 28 ascariasis, 28 whipworm infections and 17 pinworm infections in primary school children. All patients were orally given by flubendazole of 500 mg once. Stools for roundworm and whipworm and anal swabs for pinworm infections were examined both before and 25 days after treatment. After flubendazole treatment, all ascariasis and pinworm infected cases were cured. On the other hand, in whipworm infections, the cure rate was 82.1 percent (23 cured of 28 infected), and the egg reduction rate was 67.1 percent, respectively. Headache (one case), dizziness (2 cases) and abdominal pain (3 cases) were noticed as untoward effects, but they were mild and disappeared within 24 hours. These results demonstrate the excellent effectiveness of flubendazole in treating these helminth infections.

Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2019;25(1):115-124
PURPOSE: This study was performed to identify the influence of nursing professionalism and campus environment on the perception of ethical sensitivity among nursing students. METHODS: A descriptive survey design was used for this study. The participants were 323 nursing students attending four universities in Busan and Kyungnam. Data collection was conducted from November 25 to December 25, 2017 using a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. RESULTS: The factors influencing ethical sensitivity of nursing students were identified as professional self-concept (β=.36), nursing role (β=.24), scholarship (β=.17), practicability (β=.17), and propriety (β=-.13). Five factors explained 40.5% of nursing students' ethical sensitivity. CONCLUSION: The results of this study can be used to develop further educational programs on nursing professionalism and campus environments for enhancement of nursing students' ethical sensitivity.
