As the dressings currently used in clinic settings unflat shape in general, they can't be fitted completely on occiput, heel, elbow, knee and other body parts unflat. This paper developed one kind of foam dressing of special shape based on local anatomy. The foam dressing is waterproof and air permeable, it can cover the wound closely enough to prevent bacteria from invasion and infection. With a saturated absorption ratio of 1: 8 or higher, it can keep the wound clean and moisture by absorbing large amounts of wound inflammatory secretions and is almost completely permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide. Assuring safety and effect meanwhile, it has better outcomes than common dressings in the same application settings.

AIM: The effects of YIGU capsule on proliferation and IGF-I mRNA protein expressions in osteoblasts were studied. METHODS: (1) Forty 12-month old Sprague-Dawley female rats were divided randomly into four groups (YIGU capsule high dose group, medium dose group and low dose group; saline group), the drug-containing serum and control serum were prepared. (2) The new-born Sprague-Dawley rat osteoblasts were cultured with different YIGU capsule drug-containing serum at different concentrations and different exposure time. MTT method was used to observe proliferation of osteoblasts. (3) RT-PCR method was used to measure the relative IGF-I mRNA levels and ELISA method was used to measure IGF-I secretion at different exposure time. (4) ELISA method was used to measure IGF-I secretion at different exposure time. RESULTS: (1) Proliferation of osteoblasts was more than the control groups after 48, 72 and 96 h, respectively (P

Objective To study the mechanism of blood-lipid regulation of the effective fractions from the extracts of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae(RSM)or Fructus Crataegi(FC),as well as their interaction. Methods The serum-drug of RSM and FC extracts were prepared by orthogonal design L_16(215).Amphotercin B cell model and RT-PCR method were used to examine the effects of the serum-drug of RSM and FC extracts on endogenous cholesterol biosynthesis in Chinese hamster ovary(CHO)cells and the expressions of cholesterol 7?-hydroxylase(CYP7A)mRNA in BRL cells. Results Ethanol(75%)and ammonia extracts of RSM obviously increased the absorbance(A)in the experiment of amphotercin B cell model and the expression of CYP7A mRNA in BRL cell line. The extracts of FC had no direct effect on cholesterol metabolism by themselves, but they were in synergism with the extracts of RSM.ConclusionThe extracts of RSM have a blood-lipid regulation by inhibiting endogenous cholesterol biosynthesis and increasing CYP7A mRNA expression, and maybe have a better effect when the extracts of FC are used together.

Objectives: To assess the feasibility and stability of right ventricular outflow tract (ROVT) pacing under current technology by comparing the results of ROVT pacing with the traditional right ventricular apex (RVA) pacing. Methods: A total of 42 patients (at mean age of 63.5±10.4 years) without structural heart disease were randomly divided into two groups. RVA pacing group (n=14),and RVOT pacing group(n=28). An active fixation lead was implanted in all patients whose pacemaker could automatically measure the pacing threshold every day. The operation time,X-ray exposure time and lead parameters detected during the operation were collected to evaluate the feasibility of RVOT pacing. The complications related to lead and implantation procedure and the trend of threshold change during the follow-up time were used to assess the stability of RVOT pacing. Results: There were no statistic differences between RVA pacing group and RVOT pacing group in terms of operation time,X-ray exposure time and lead parameters. In RVOT group, the change of threshold during acute period was similar to those in RVA group (P=0.23). Chronic pacing threshold was also comparable between two groups, mean threshold at 6 months follow-up time was 0.55±0.11V and 0.54±0.09V at 0.4 pulse width in RVA group and RVOT group respectively (P=0.787).Conclusion: RVOT pacing was feasible and stable in operation time and lead characteristics compared with the conventional RVA pacing under current pacing technology.

Objective To observe the effect of nerve growth factor(NGF)and electro-acupuncture(EA) on learning and memory in rats with cerebral ischemia. Methods An experimental model of cerebral ischemiareperfusion was established in 40 rats, who were then randomly divided into a model group,a sham operated group,a NGF group,an acupuncture group and a NGF plus acupuncture group.Three weeks were allowed for the recovery of the blood-brain barrier lesion caused by ischemia-reperfusion before intravenous injection of NGF(10μg/kg,once daily for 15 days)via the vena caudalis. In the two acupuncture groups, this was administered in combination with EA at the Baihui(DU20)and Yamen(DU15)acupoints(frequency 100 Hz,2 mA,20 min/time,once daily for 15 days).Morris' water maze test was used to assess any changes in spatial learning and memory abilities. Results The ischemic rats showed significant learning and memory disorders compared with the sham-operated group. In the NGF group, the rats' learning and memory abilities did not impmve significantly compared with the model group and the EA group.Significantly better learning was observed in the NGF+EA group compared with the model group, the EA group and the NGF group. Conclusion NGF combined with EA can improve the learning and memory abilities of rats with learning and memory dysfunction caused by cerebral ischemia-repedusion.

Object To observe the effect of Guizhi Fuling Capsule (GFC) on prostatic hyperplasia in rats induced by testosterone propionate. Methods Seven days after the male rats were castrated, testosterone propionate (3 mg/kg) was sc injected in rats. Meanwhile, the rats were administered GFC (2.16, 1.08, 0.54 g/kg) once a day, and the treatment continued for 30 d. An hour after the final administration, the rats were put to death, and the weight and volume of prostates were measured. The construction of prostate cells was also observed under light microscope. Results In the GFC group, the weight and volume of prostate was significantly decreased compared with that in the model group (P

Background The data on the prognostic values of high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels in patients with advanced symp-tomatic heart failure (HF) receiving cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) are scarce. The aim of present study was to investigate the association of serum hsCRP levels with left ventricle reverse remodeling after six months of CRT as well as long-term outcome. Methods A total of 232 CRT patients were included. The assessment of hsCRP values, clinical status and echocardiographic data were performed at baseline and after six months of CRT. Long-term follow-up included all-cause mortality and hospitalizations for HF. Results During the mean follow-up periods of 31.3 ± 31.5 months, elevated hsCRP (>3 mg/L) prior to CRT was associated with a significant 2.39-fold increase (P=0.006) in the risk of death or HF hospitalizations. At 6-month follow-up, patients who responded to CRT showed significant reductions or maintained low in hsCRP levels (–0.5 ± 4.1 mg/L reduction) compared with non-responders (1.7 ± 6.1 mg/L increase, P=0.018). Com-pared with patients in whom 6-month hsCRP levels were reduced or remained low, patients in whom 6-month hsCRP levels were increased or maintained high experienced a significantly higher risk of subsequent death or HF hospitalizations (Log-rank P<0.001). The echocardio-graphic improvement was also better among patients in whom 6-month hsCRP levels were reduced or remained low compared to those in whom 6-month hsCRP levels were raised or maintained high. Conclusions Our findings demonstrated that measurement of baseline and follow-up hsCRP levels may be useful as prognostic markers for timely potential risk stratification and subsequent appropriate treatment strategies in patients with advanced HF undergoing CRT.
