Objecave To explore the protective effect of active component of Eclipta on hepatic injury induced by Concanavalin A(ConA)in mice. Methods Mouse hepatic injury models were established by injection of ConA(15 mg/kg)via tail vein. The effect of Eclipta extracts on serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and liver histology in both normal mice and hepatic injury mice was examined.A pure compound was obtained by means of bioactivity-guided isolation, and IR,~(13)C-NMR, ~1H-NMR,~1H-~(13)C HMBC and ~1H-~(13)C HMQC were used for structural identiffcation. Results Eclipta extracts decreased serum ALT in hepatic injury mice induced by ConA.and demonstrated anti-apoptosis effect induced by ConA in hepatoeytes.Wedelolaetone,a eoumarin, was isolated from Eclipta, and its structure was identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis.Wedelolactone inhibited ConA-induced T cell proliferation selectively, and completely antagonized the effect of ConA at the concentration of 10μg/mL. Conclusion Eclipta herb has hepatoprotective effect.Wedelolactone, the anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptosis active component of Eclipta, might serve as a lead compound for developing new antiinflammatory drugs.

Objective To evaluate the imaging technique of magnetic resonance tomographic angiography (MRTA) in the investigation of etiology of hemifacial spasm (HFS). Methods Multiplane MRTA imaging of facial nerve of both sides was performed in all 121 HFS patients. Among them, 23 HFS patients received MVD subsequently. Results Among the 121 HFS patients, 119 patients had one side hemifacial spasm and 2 patients had double side hemifacial spasm, among them, neurovascular compression was found in the root entry zone (REZ) of facial nerve in 116 cases by MRTA,and the sensitivity was 94 3%;among the 119 cases which had no HFS,no neurovascular compression was found in the REZ of facial nerve in 112 cases by MRTA,and the specificity was 94 1%. Among 23 patients who received one side MVD, 21 patients had results that agreed with the multiplanar MRTA views. Conclusion Multiplanar MRTA was considered to be a very useful imaging technique for the study of etiology of HFS, and it also seemed to be a very important preoperative examination for MVD.

Objective To investigate the role of TGF-? 1 and -? 2 in the pathogenesis of scleroderma(SD) and the relationship between this kind of cytokines and the clinical types of SD. Methods The TGF-? 1 and -? 2 mRNA and protein expressions in lesions of 17 patients with SD and 10 normal controls were detected using in situ RT-PCR technique and immunohistochemistry SP assay respectively. Results ①The positive rate and the expression strength of TGF-? 1 mRNA expression in the SD group were much higher than those in control group. There was no difference in TGF-? 1 mRNA expression between the localized SD and SSc patients. ②The positive rate and expression strength of TGF-? 1 and -? 2 proteins in SD group were much higher than those in control group. There was no difference in TGF-? 1 and -? 2 protein expressions between localized SD and SSc cases. Conclusion ①The positive rate and expression strength of TGF-? 1 mRNA in SD patients increased, which implied that TGF-? 1 mRNA may play an important role in fibrosis of SD. ②The positive rate and expression strength of TGF-? 1 and -? 2 proteins were more elevated in SD,which suggested that TGF-? 1 and -? 2 proteins were associated with skin fibrosis of SD. ③There was no relationship between the expression of TGF-? 1 and TGF-? 2 mRNA or proteins and the clinical types of SD, which indicated that there may be a similar pathogenesis for localized SD and SSc.

Chinese Journal of Perinatal Medicine 2003;0(06):-
Objective To discuss the diagnosis, treatment and following up of the cervical lesions(CIN~cervical carcinoma Ia 1) during pregnancy. Methods Fifteen pregnant women with cervical lesions were reviewed from Jan 1998~Oct 2003 in our hospital. Results Among the fifteen cases, 11 were diagnosed as CIN~ cervical carcinoma Ia 1 based on biopsy results under copolscopy. Ten of the 11 cases had copolscopy repeated every 8 weeks and delivered at term. The left one woman terminated the pregnancy in the first trimester due to carcinoma in situ (CIS) invasion to glands. Among those 10 cases who progressed to term, four were stable during pregnancy (CINⅡ,CINⅢ,CIS and cervical carcinoma Ia1, one for each) and had the same pathology postpartum as antepartum; three had CIN I during pregnancy but changed to inflammation postpartum;one had CIS involved in glands prepartumly while CINⅡ~Ⅲ postpartumly; one had CINⅢ prepartumly and progressed to CIS involved in glands confirmed after conization postpartumly. One woman was missing after delivery. Conclusions Cervical lesions (CIN~Ia 1) less likely get worse during pregnancy. Conservative management is possible if regular cytology, copolscopy and bioposy when necessary are available. Re examination is necessary within two months after birth. Routine examination for women who have no pap smear within the last one year period would be helpful in detecting cervical lesions during pregnancy.
