AIM:To observe the effect of arsenic trioxide (ATO) on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats. METHODS:Pulmonary fibrosis was induced in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats by intratracheal instillation of bleomycin (BLM). The rats in ATO treatment group, steroid treatment group and model group were intraperitoneally injected with ATO,dexamethasone or normal saline (NS),respectively, while the control rats received NS both intratracheally and intraperitoneally. The effects of ATO were evaluated by analyzing the median survival time, hydroxyproline level in the lung, semiquantitative grading of alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis, and quantitative analysis of the collagen in lung tissue (Masson's trichrome staining). Apoptosis index (AI) of the lung was detected by using the terminal transferase dUTP-digoxygenin nick endlabeling (TUNEL) method. The results of immunohistochemical staining for some cytokines were quantitatively analyzed. RESULTS:ATO (1) prolonged the median survival time of rats with BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis at some extent; (2) attenuated the alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis, reduced hydroxyproline level and collagen deposition in the lung tissue; (3) increased the AI of lung tissue at a certain phase; and decreased the levels of transforming growth factor-?1(TGF-?1) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1),increased the content of in-terferon-? (IFN-?),but did not influence the concentration of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) significantly. CONCLUSION:ATO might attenuate BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats via increasing the AI in the lung tissue.

Objective The advantages of the treating allergic rhinitis (AR) by sphenopalatine ganglion stimulation with acupuncture were evaluated. Methods Databases including CBMDisk, CNKI, WanFang, VIP, Cochrane Library, PubMed, ProQuest, ChiCTR, ISRCTN, ClinicalTrials.gov and CENTRAL were searched from the beginning of database established to Jan 2015. All issues from Jan 2004 to Jan 2015 published onjournals Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion,Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Acupuncture Research,Journal of Clinical Acupuncture and Moxibustion,Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine and Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology in Integrative Medicine were searched by hand at meantime. All data were extracted based on the inclusive and exclusive criteria which was pre-designed, the Revman5.3 was applied for meta-analysis, and the studies qualities were analyzed by grade score. Results 118 articles were collected, 7 studies that involving 1 230 patients met the inclusive criteria. The result indicated that the sphenopalatine ganglion stimulation with acupuncture as the main treatment of AR showed the better total response rate compared to conventional drugs, theOR(95%CI) was 3.22(1.81 - 5.75); however the change of total symptom score had no statistical significant difference, the MD(95%CI) was 0.69 (-0.56 - 1.93), the change of IgE had no statistical significant difference,theSMD(95%CI) was -0.07 (-0.97 - 0.83).Conclusion The main treatment on AR by sphenopalatine ganglion stimulation with acupuncture may has better efficacy than western medicine. But due to the methodological biases existed in most studies, future high-quality RCTs were needed to be included into Meta-analysis to test today’s study conclusion.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of high frequency partial liquid ventilation (HFJV) on the cardiopulmonary function in dogs with inhalation injury.
METHODSSixteen mongrel dogs inflicted by hot steam inhalation were subjected to severe inhalation injury and were randomly divided into control (C) and treatment (T) groups. The dogs in both groups were all given HFJV. In addition, the dogs in T group were simultaneously supplied with perfluorocarbon liquid (3 ml/kg) into the lungs slowly via tracheal intubation for liquid ventilation. The blood gas analysis, pulmonary compliance, airway resistance and hemodynamic parameters were determined at 30, 60 and 90 minutes after ventilation.
RESULTSThe PaO(2) in T group increased progressively, which was significantly higher than the post-injury value at all time points (P < 0.05). While the PaO(2) in C group exhibited no difference to the post-injury value at all time points. The PaCO(2) in T group increased obviously and was higher than the post-injury value at 60 and 90 post-ventilation minutes (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the PaO(2) in all the time points in T group was a little higher than that in C group (P > 0.05) and PaCO(2) in T group was much higher than that in C group at 90 min after ventilation (P < 0.05). But there was no difference between the two groups in terms of dynamic/static pulmonary compliance and airway resistance as well as the hemodynamics.
CONCLUSIONCompared with simple HFJV, high frequency partial liquid ventilation seemed to be beneficial to the oxygenation after inhalation injury and to be no influence on the hemodynamics.

Innovative and practical platform safety management is the foundation of the innovation and entrepreneurship for undergraduate students in universities and colleges, which plays a critical role in maintaining the stability of the university and society, and ensuring the safety of teachers and students. In this present paper, the complex situation and problems of innovative and practical platform safety management, such as the imperfect regulations, weak atmosphere, incomplete facilities, unprofessional management, etc., are discussed under the background of "innovation and entrepreneurship" in China. With the combination of the above problems and the actual situation of Chengdu Medical College, the constructions of the regulations, such as access regulation, certification regulation, check regulation, rewards and punishment regulation, responsibility regulation, and a series of standard operating procedures (SOP) have also been carried out. Furthermore, adequate safety education and proper safety drills have been performed during the whole process of safety management. In addition, a diverse and professional management team with putting more emphasis on the development of safety facilities has been formed. In conclusions, the practice and exploration on the safety management of undergraduate students' innovative and practical platform in this paper may provide a theoretical basis and practical value to optimize the safety management in local universities and colleges under the background of "innovation and entrepreneurship" in China.
