Objective: To evaluate the superiority in diagnosing DVT between venography and duplex ultrasound, and the effectiveness of C-reactive protein (CRP) as a biomarker. Methods: Firstly, the iliac - femoral vein of the dog left hind leg was isolated, and then, the thrombosis model was established by infusing the thrombin after breaking endangium. The recanalization of thrombosis was assessed by duplex ultrasound and venography, and the expression of serum hsCRP was also examined. From 2006 to 2008, 77 patients with acute DVT proximal to the knee joint were admitted. The interval between the onset of DVT and admission was 1-21 days. They were treated mainly with urokinase and low molecular weight heparin for 2 weeks. The assessment of each patient including clinical manifestation, venography, duplex ultrasound and serum highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) were performed immediately after admission and 4 weeks after discharge. Results: After medical therapy for 2 weeks, the clinical features prominently subsided in 49 patients, improved in 23 and didn’t ameliorate in 5.4 weeks after discharge, venography showed clot regression in 15 patients; while in the remaining 62 patients the occluded venous lumen were not visualized, duplex ultrasound showed partial lysis of the thrombosis. At admission, the hsCRP was 28.91?29.4mg/L, and it dropped to 8.13?12.7mg/L at 4 weeks after discharge. Conclusion:Duplex ultrasound was effective to assess DVT. The hsCRP was positively related to the severity of DVT.

Objective To compare the difference of ultrasound and digital subtraction anginography (DSA) in diagnosing carotid atheriosclerosis. Methods A total of 340 patients of ischemic cerebrovascular disease with carotid atheriosclerosis were examined with ultrasound and DSA. They were divided into cerebral infarction group (n=235) and transient ischemic attack (TIA, n=105), and also were divided into the young-aged group (n=54), middle-aged group (n=137) and old-aged group (n=149) by age. Results Both of the ultrasound and DSA found that the incidence of carotid artery stenosis in cerebral infarction was higher than that in TIA (P<0.05);the incidence that of carotid artery stenosis in old-aged group were higher than that in middle-aged and young-aged group (P<0.05), and in middle-aged group was higher than that in young-aged group. Taking DSA as standard, the accordance rate of ultrasound in diagnosing stenosis, clot and both of them were 89.39%, 80.85%, 87.15%, respectively. Conclusion Carotid artery ultrasound has high sensitivity in diagnosis of carotid atheriosclerosis. Either carotid artery ultrasound or DSA has advantages. With combination of two methods, there will be an important significance in the diagnosis, clinical treatment, assess before operation and follow-up after operation in patients with carotid atheriosclerosis.

PURPOSE:
To improve the clinical effects of complete denture use and simplify its clinical application, a digital complete denture restoration workflow (Functional Suitable Digital Complete Denture System, FSD) was proposed and preliminary clinical evaluation was done. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty edentulous patients were enrolled, of which half were treated by a prosthodontic chief physician, and the others were treated by a postgraduate student. Based on the primary impression and jaw relation obtained at the first visit, diagnostic denture was designed and printed to create a definitive impression, jaw relation, and esthetic confirmation at the second visit. A redesigned complete denture was printed as a mold to fabricate final denture that was delivered at the third visit. To evaluate accuracy of impression made by diagnostic denture, the final denture was used as a tray to make impression, and 3D comparison was used to analyze their difference. To evaluate the clinical effect of FSD, visual analogue scores (VAS) were determined by both dentists and patients.
RESULTS:
Two visits were reduced before denture delivery. The RMS values of 3D comparison between the impression made via diagnostic dentures and the final dentures were 0.165 ± 0.033 mm in the upper jaw and 0.139 ± 0.031 mm in the lower jaw. VAS ratings were between 8.5 and 9.6 in the chief physician group, while 7.7 and 9.5 in the student group; there was no statistical difference between the two groups.
CONCLUSION
FSD can simplify the complete denture restoration process and reduce the number of visits. The accuracy of impressions made by diagnostic dentures was acceptable in clinic. The VASs of both dentists and patients were satisfied.

Objective:To evaluate the clinical value of the transcutaneous neuromodulation (TN) in improving gastrointestinal function after gastrointestinal tumor operation. Methods:From April 2019 to June 2020, at The Affiliated People′s Hospital of Ningbo University, 100 patients who underwent gastrointestinal tumor surgery were included. The 100 patients were randomly divided into treatment group(receiving TN treatment, 50 cases)and control group (receiving sham TN treatment, 50 cases). The clinical data of the two groups was compared to evaluate the recovery of gastrointestinal function, which included the time of first defecation, time of first flatus, time of first ambulation, time of resuming diet, the incidence of nausea and vomiting within 3 d after operation and pain score (0 to 10). Heart rate variability (HRV) was compared between two groups to analyze the possible mechanism of TN improving gastrointestinal function after gastrointestinal tumor surgery. Independent sample t test and Chi-square test were used for statistical analysis. Results:Among 100 patients, there were 63 male and 37 female patients, the age was (67.0±11.3) years old, ranged from 28 to 92 years old. Compared with the control group, the time of first defecation, first flatus, first ambulation and resuming diet of treatment group reduced by 31.0%, 39.8%, 38.0% and 32.4% ((72.1±3.0) h vs.(104.5±2.9) h, (49.4±5.7) h vs.(82.1±3.1) h, (3.1±0.7) d vs.(5.0±0.9) d, (4.8±0.9) d vs. (7.1±0.8) d)), respectively; the pain scores on the day 2 and day 3 after operation and incidence of nausea and vomiting within 3 d after operation decreased by 50.0%, 65.5%, 26.0%(1.5±0.6 vs. 3.0±0.7, 1.0±0.6 vs. 2.9±0.6, 16.0%, 8/50 vs. 42.0%, 21/50), respectively, and the differences were statistically significant ( t=54.28, 35.72, 11.67, 13.66, 12.00 and 14.90, χ2=8.21, all P<0.01). The results of HRV analysis showed that the high frequency on day 3 was higher than that on day 1 of treatment group, and the ratio of low frequency to high frequency after operation was lower than that before operation of treatment group (0.5±0.1 vs. 0.4±0.1, 1.2±0.7 vs. 1.9±1.0), and the differences were statistically significant( t=-4.81 and 4.26, both P<0.01), which indicated TN could enhance vagal activity. Conclusions:TN promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function after gastrointestinal tumor operation, and can be used as an adjuvant therapy to accelerate the recovery of gastrointestinal function after gastrointestinal tumor operation.

ObjectiveTo investigate the regulatory effects of Ginkgolide B on the biological characteristics of brain T cells and their interactions with glial cells during the recovery phase of ischemic stroke in mice. Methods36 adult C57BL/6 mice were randomly assigned to three groups: sham-operated group (Sham group), control group (PBS group), and Ginkgolide B treatment group (GB group). The Sham group underwent only sham surgeries, whereas the PBS and GB groups were subjected to a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model using the filament method, followed by intranasal administration of an equivalent volume of either PBS or Ginkgolide B solution for 14 days post-injury. Neurological function changes were evaluated in all three groups using the rotarod test and a neurological scoring system. On day 15, single-cell sequencing was performed on fresh tissues from the brain injury areas, surrounding cortex, corpus callosum, and striatum of mice in the PBS and GB group to assess the biological characteristics of T cells and their subpopulations, and further explore the interactions and mechanisms among T cells, microglia, and oligodendrocytes. ResultsCompared with the Sham group, both PBS and GB group exhibited significant improvements in neurological scores and reduced pre-fall motor durations (P < 0.001). Compared with the PBS group, the GB group showed a downward trend in neurological scores and an upward trend in pre-fall motor durations on days 5, 10, and 15 post-ischemic brain injury, with a significant increase in pre-fall motor duration on day 15 (P < 0.05). Compared with the PBS group, the GB group exhibited a significant increase in T cell proliferative activity in the brain 15 days post brain injury (P < 0.05). The number of proliferative T cells and the levels of lipid metabolism were significantly elevated (P < 0.05), and there was a significant increase in extracellular matrix remodeling in all T cells (P < 0.05). Additionally, the interactions between T cells and both microglia and oligodendrocytes, as well as among the microglia themselves and between microglia and oligodendrocytes, were significantly enhanced in the GB group. This was primarily evident in the strengthened interactions between CD74 and macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), as well as colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R) and colony stimulating factor 1 (CSF1) (P < 0.05). However, the inflammatory levels of T cells showed no significant differences compared with the PBS group. ConclusionA mouse model of ischemic stroke can be successfully established by MCAO operation. Ginkgolide B may promote neurological recovery post-brain injury in mice by modulating the biological characteristics of T cells within the brain and their interactions with glial cells.

Objective:
To investigate the efficacy and outcome of transcatheter patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure in patients with cryptogenic stroke (CS).
Methods:
Sixty consecutive patients with cryptogenic stroke who undertook transcatheter PFO closure between May 2015 and September 2017 in Beijing Tiantan Hospital were enrolled in this prospective study.Transcranial Doppler (TCD) bubble test was performed and right-left shunt(RLS) was confirmed in all patients.Closure success rate, effective closure rate, complications, recurrence of ischemic stroke and new onset atrial fibrillation were evaluated.
Results:
A total of 60 patients (42 male, age range 24-68 (47±11)years) were included in the study.PFO size (motionless state) was (1.6±0.6)mm.RLS before closure was graded and 11 patients had moderate RLS and 48 patients had large RLS (include 41 patients who experienced shower or curtain effect).Closure success rate was 100% (60/60).No severe complications were observed. At 6 months,45 patients completed TCD bubble test.Of these, 4 patients suffered from moderate to large residual and thus effective closure rate was 91%(41/45).The mean follow-up period was 2-29 (median 12) months. During the follow-up, only 1 patient experienced recurrent cerebral infarction.New onset atrial fibrillation was not detected.
Conclusion
Transcatheter PFO closure is effective, safe and related with a good outcome in reduction of recurrent CS for patients with PFO.
