Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2010;9(1):52-53
Total 1049 new cases of blindness were detected by visual acuity survey in a population aged 68 or above in Changning District of Shanghai from 2003 to 2008. Among all eases 21.5% were age-related macular degeneration (AMD) blindness, with a trend of ascending from 17.7% in 2003 to 29. 9% in 2008. Most of the cases were classified as grade 3 (56. 9% ) or grade 4 (41.3%) of blindness. AMD has become one of the leading causes of blindness at present and should be the key eye disease for prevention of blindness.
2. Association between XRCC3 Thr241Met polymorphism and genetic susceptibility to glioma in Chinese Han population living in Shanghai and surrounding provinces in east China
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;28(4):364-368
Objective: To investigate the possible association between Thr241Met polymorphism in the DNA repair gene X ray repair cross-complementing group 3 (XRCC3) with genetic susceptibility to glioma in a Chinese Han population living it Shanghai and the surrounding provinces in east China. Methods: Genotyping by a TaqMan assay was performed in 771 brain glioma patients living in Shanghai and the surrounding provinces (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, etc.) and in 752 control participants matched in age and gender. The genotyping results of TaqMan assay and the association between Thr241Met polymorphism in the DNA repair gene XRCC3 with genetic susceptibility to glioma were statistically analyzed. Results: Genotypes of 1 468 subjects (760 with brain glioma and 708 were cancer-free control) were successfully performed by TaqMan assay, with the successful rate being 96.4%. Statistical analysis result showed that gene(C/T) and genotype (C/C,T/C,T/T) frequencies of XRCC3 were not significantly different between the glioma and cancer-free groups. Compared with the CC genotype, the variant TC(P=O.909; adjusted by age and gender OR=0.981; 95%CI=0.701-1.371) or TT(P=0.642; adjusted by age and gender OR=0.7; 95%CI=0.156-3.146) genotypes of XRCC3 Thr241Met were associated with a non-statistically significant increase of glioma risk. Conclusion: The variant TC or TT genotypes of XRCC3 Thr241Met may not be risk factors for brain glioma it Chinese Han population living in Shanghai and the surrounding provinces in east China.
3.Clinical Observation on Xuezhikang Capsule for 116 Cases of Coronary Heart Disease with Abnormal Blood Lipid
Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1992;0(11):-
Objective To observe the different effect of Xuezhikang Capsule on the patients of coronary heart disease (CHD) with abnormal blood lipid in different syndromes. Methods Of the 116 patients of CHD with abnormal blood lipid diagnosed by coronary arteriography and blood test, 30 were blood stasis syndrome, 23 phlegm turbid syndrome, 26 phlegm retention syndrome, and 37 non-phlegm non-stasis syndrome. Based on the standard treatment with modern medicine, Xuezhikang Capsule was given 0.6g each time, twice a day, for 24 weeks in succession. Results After the treatment, total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low density lipoprotein-C (LDL-C) were decreased (P
4.The role of diffusion tensor imaging in motor outcome prediction in subcortical cerebral infarction in the acute period
Chinese Journal of Neurology 2010;43(8):534-537
Objective To observe the patients with subcortical cerebral infarction in the acute period, disabled in the motor function, and explore the extent of impact of several predictive factors to the recovery of motor function, including diffusion tensor imaging (DTF) displaying the involving extent of pyramidal tract, in order to find the most reliable and closely predictors. Methods 82 patients with acute cerebral infarction and disability (mRS score ≥ 3 points) were followed up on the 90 d after the symptom onset, respectively. Combining the baseline clinical characteristics, the laboratory and imaging auxiliary examination and treatment methods, choosing gender, age, hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, atrial fibrillation or angina history, smoking history, alcohol history, the initial disability level, homocysteine, C-reactive protein, treatment modalities, the volume of infarction and the involving extent of pyramidal tract as observed indicators. According to mRS result, the outcome of the patients were divided into disabled groups ( mRS 3-5) and non-disabled group ( mRS 0-2). Results Using chi-square test to make univariate analysis, results showed that age (χ2 = 47.492, P < 0. 01 ), diabetes ( χ2 = 5. 126, P =0. 024), hypercholesterolemia(χ2 =6. 242 ,P = 0. 012), the initial degree of disability (χ2 =45. 359, P <0. 01 ) and the involving extent of pyramidal tract (χ2 = 51. 467, P < 0. 01 ) could effect patients gaining recovering. Using multivariate Logistic regression analysis to make a multivariate regression analysis, results suggest that age ( OR = 0. 068, P = 0. 042), the involving extent of pyramidal tract ( OR = 0. 026, P = 0. 002 )are independent predictors of recovery of motor function in patients, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, initial disability level have no significant correlation. Conclusion The involving extent of pyramidal tract reflected by DTT is the best predictor of recovery in patients with subcortical cerebral infarction in the acute period.
5.Effect of Electroacupuncture at Bilateral Points Quchi on Blood Pressure Variability in Hypertensive Disease Patients
Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2015;(11):1059-1061
Objective To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture at bilateral points Quchi on blood pressure variability in hypertensive disease patients. Methods One hundred and two patients were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups, 51 cases each. Methods The treatment group received electroacupuncture at bilateral points Quchi and the control group, no treatment as a blank control. Twenty-four-hour dynamic blood pressure and blood pressure variability were observed in the two groups of patients. Results There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in 24-hour systolic pressure standard deviation (24 hSSD), daytime systolic pressure standard deviation (dSSD) and night systolic pressure standard deviation (nSSD) between the treatment and control groups (P<0.05). There were no statistically significant post-treatment differences in 24-hour diastolic pressure standard deviation (24 hDSD), daytime diastolic pressure standard deviation (dDSD) and night diastolic pressure standard deviation (nDSD) between the treatment and control groups (P>0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture at bilateral points Quchi can reduce systolic pressure variability in hypertensive disease patients.
