Objective To investigate the expression of CD158b in NK cells after allogeneic kidney transplantation. Methods In 62 patients with allogeneic kidney transplantation, blood samples were collected on the day before operation, first, 7th day after operation, the moment the graft (reco)-(vered) and the acute rejection occurred. The expression of CD158b was detected in peripheral blood NK cells. The ratio of CD3~-CD16/56~+CD158b~+ was measured. Results There were 38 patients without acute rejection during the whole transplantation period. The ratio of CD3~-CD16/56~+ cells and CD3~-CD16/56~+CD158b~+ cells were stable before and after the transplantation. Twenty-four patients experienced acute rejection post-transplantation. The ratio of CD3~-CD16/56~+ cells was increased significantly after acute rejection, the ratio of CD3~-CD16/56~+CD158b~+ cells decreased significantly, and the percentage of CD3~-CD16/56~+CD158b~+ cells of total NK cells decreased significantly. Conclusion There are not too much factors interfering with the expression of CD158b in NK cells, and the ratio of CD3~-CD16/56~+CD158b~+ cells had already decreased significantly before the clinical diagnosis of (acute) rejection. Monitoring of CD158b in NK cells is more accurate and sensitive for the evaluation of immune state.

BACKGROUND:The incidence of femoral head necrosis after internalfixation in femoral neck fracture is at highlevel, but the risk factors are stil under discussion. OBJECTIVE:To retrospectively propose and analyze the relative risk factors of femoral head necrosis after internal fixationwithfemoral neck fracture in patients younger than60years old. METHODS:Data from199 patients with femoral neck fractures, younger than60years,undergoingclosed reduction and internal fixation were analyzed retrospectively.Seven factors including age, sex, body mass index, Garden classification, fracture seasons, reduction quality and weight-bearing time after internal fixation were statisticalyanalyzedto evaluate their correlation with femoral head necrosis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The incidence of femoral head necrosis was 13.1%amongthe199 cases. Body mass index, Garden classification, fracture seasons, reduction quality were significantly associated with femoral head necrosis. The age, sex and weight-bearing time wereinsignificantly associated with femoral head necrosis. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, Garden classification, reduction quality and fracture seasons (winterversussummer) hadoverteffectson development of femoral head necrosis. These results suggest that Garden classification and reduction quality make an important effect on the healing of femoral neck fracture. In addition, fracture in winter may be the risk factor of the femoral head necrosis after internal fixation in femoral neck fracture.

The calcium antagonist action of arctigenin (ACT) was studied in order to verify the ef-fect of Fructus Arctii for the relieve of exterior syndrome. Muscular contraction of isolated rat trachea, colon, pulmonary artery and thoracic aorta induced by KC1, that of guinea pig trachea induced by CaCI2,before and after the addition of ACT were assessed and their contraction-response curves drawn and PD'2calculated according to Scott. The inhibition rate of two-phase contraction of guinea pig trachea induced byacetylcholine chloride (Ach) in comparison with verapamil (VER) was calculated. Results of the studyshowed that ACT could non-compatitively antagonize the muscular contraction of the test specimens withPD'2 of 4.01, 5.11, 5.98 and 6.05 respectively. Similar to VER, ACT could non-competitively antagonizethe isolated guinea pig trachea with PD'2 of 4.04 and 5.62 respectively. Both of them could inhibit thefirst phase contraction induced by Ach with inhibition rates of 66.14% and 81.42% respectively. It wasconcluded that ACT, as the active constituent of Fructus Arctii, relaxed smooth muscle contraction byblocking the potential dependant Ca2+ channel and the internal release of Ca2+.

Objective To explore the effects of swan-like memory compressive connector(SMC) made of Ni-Ti shape memory alloy on stress shielding rate, struct ure and mechanical properties as well as the blood flow of cortical bone of expe rimental fracture healing. Methods Mid-shaft osteotomies of bilateral humerus we re performed in 56 rabbits. One side was randomly fixed with SMC, and the other side was plated with a 4-holes dynamic compressive plate (DCP). At 2, 4, 8, 12, 16,and 20 weeks after operations, the humeri in 8 rabbits were harvested. The st ress-shielding rate was measured using axial compressive test in situ samples. T he geometrical structure and bone density were examined by CT scans, and the mec hanical property was assessed by torsion tests. Blood flow was measured in real time using Laser-Doppler flowmetry. The cortical bone perfusion of 16 rabbits wa s measured at 10 time intervals (after periosteotomy, after fracture, instant af ter fixation, at 1, 3, and 7 days, and 2, 4, 8, and 12 weeks postoperatively). B lood flow was measured at outer and inner cortical bone beneath the fixation. Si multaneously, anteroposterior radiograph of the humerus was taken. Results The s tress-shielding rate in SMC group was significantly lower than that of DCP group (P

Objective To explore effect of swan-like memory connector (SMC) on bioelectric potential changes during the course of experimental fracture healing and its relation with fracture healing. Methods Bilateral humerus of 33 New Zealand rabbits were osteotomized in midshaft. One random side was fixed with SMC and the other one plated by the four-hole dynamic compression plate (DCP). The bioelectric potential changes of the fractured humerus in eight animals were determined using modified Friedenberg's technique,at eight time intervals (prefracture, postfracture, postfixation immediately,1, 2,4,8 and 12 weeks after surgery). The rabbits were killed at the 1st,2nd,4th,8th and 12th weeks respectively postoperatively and the humerus in 5 rabbits harvested for HE sections. Results The bioelectric potential of fracture site remained invariably negative all the time in the Group SMC. However, the bioelectric potential began to recover from the 2nd week after operation and reached the normal level of prefracture at the 4th week in the Group DCP,with a significant difference compared with the Group SMC ( P
