Objective To compare the clinical treatment effect of triamcinolone acetonide and compound betamethasone in treating humeral external epicondylitis. Methods Eighty patients with humeral external epicondylitis were selected,87 sides participated in this clinical research, and divided into the triamcinolone acetonide blocking group(40 cases,43 sides) and compound betamethasone blocking group (40 cases,44 sides). Then the two groups received triamcinolone acetonide or compound betamethasone blocking therapy respectively. The clinical treatment effects were observed and evaluated. Results The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score after treatment in the triamcinolone acetonide group and compound betamethasone group was obviously decreased compared with before treatment (P<0.01),the Activities of Daily Living(ADL)score was obviously increased (P<0.01);The difference value (improvement degree) of VAS score before and after treatment in the compound betamethasone group was obviously increased compared with the triamcinolone acetonide group (P<0.01).Conclusion Both triamcinolone acetonide and compound betamethasone blocking treatment are effective on humeral external epicondylitis, but the curative effect of compound betamethasone is superior to that of triamcinolone acetonide.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of the clinical pathway in geriatric orthope-dics clinical teaching. Methods From March 2010 to December 2011, 80 clinical undergraduates, who practiced in the Department of Orthopedics in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medi-cal University, were equally randomized divided into two groups. One group was taught by the con-ventional methods and the other group was taught by the clinical pathway teaching. After the teaching, the theoretical exam and operational skill test were performed among students in both groups. SPSS 17.0 software was employed and the scores before and after the teaching and scores between two groups was analyzed by paired t-test(inspection level α=0.05). Results There was no significant difference in average scores between two groups before teaching(theoretical exam: P=0.81, operating skill test:P=0.65) while significant increases were observed in scores of theoretical exam and operational skill test after teaching (theoretical exam and operating skill test: P<0.05) and clinical pathway teaching group had higher scores than conventional teaching group (theoretical exam and operating skill test:P=0.02 and P=0.01). Conclusions Better effects can be achieved by clinical pathway approach re-garding geriatric orthopedics teaching.

Objective To explore the anti- inflammatory of pricking blood therapy in acute gouty arthritis rats. Methods 60 Sprague-Dawley rats were equally divided into normal group, bloodletting normal group, sham group, arthritis group, bloodletting group and ibuprofen group. The acute gouty arthritis model was established with injecting uric acid sodium salt into the right ankle joint cavity. The ibuprofen group was administrated with ibuprofen intragastrically, the bloodletting normal group and bloodletting group were pricked the right Kunlun (BL60) acupoint. The cross section diameter of the right ankle joint were measured before and after treatment. Levels of mRNA and protein of interleukin (IL)-10 and IL-4 expressed in ankle were determined with RT-PCR and Western blotting Results The cross section diameter increased in the bloodletting group compared with the normal group after treatment (P<0.05), and decreased (P<0.05) compared with the arthritis group and the ibuprofen group, while the expression of IL-10 mRNA increased (P<0.05) compared with the normal group, the arthritis group and the ibuprofen group, as well as the IL-10 protein compared with the normal group and the arthritis group (P< 0.05). The expression of IL-4 mRNA and protein increased without significance (P>0.05) in the bloodletting group compared with the normal group. Conclusion IL-10 may play a role of anti-inflammatory in pricking bloodletting therapy for acute gouty arthritis.

Recently, in vitro dynamical cell-culture has been drawing more and more attention from researchers in the areas of tissue engineer, and a series of researches have demonstrated that cyclic mechanical stretching has significant effects on the cell proliferation, differentiation, and on the cell alignment on scaffold, as well as on the synthesis of extracellular matrix, cytokines, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). By focusing on reviewing the culture of several kinds of fibroblasts in vitro, we learned that these cellular responses mentioned above induced by cyclic mechanical stretching were tested by many precisely designed experiments, and assumed that cyclic mechanical stretching, if applied properly, would contribute significantly to our purpose of constructing more sophisticated tissue-engineered tendon and ligament.
