Objective To explore the effects of AP on pulmonary fibrosis. Methods Alveolar macrophages (AM) were treated by AP for 24 hours. Pulmonary fibroblasts (FB) were cultured with the supernatant of AM medium. The protein of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-?1) of AM, the proliferative activity and hydroxyproline (Hyp) content of FB were examined. Rats were treated with AP by intratracheal instillation and sacrificed at 3 days. The TGF-?1 mRNA content in the lung was examined. Results The positive staining macrophages in low and high AP groups and the quantity of TGF-?1 in high AP group were obviously higher than those in the control group (P

Objective To reasonably confirm the target of 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3DCRT) for lung cancer. Methods While a patient was breathing, the motion of the primary lesion in the lung was observed by fluoroscopy. The extent of motion of the primary lesion during irradiation was evaluated by portal films. Three 3DCRT plannings for lung cancer, in which gross tumor volume (GTV) decided by a group of radiation oncologists and implemented, were taken as the standard. The GTV delineated by five radiation oncologits was compared with the standard by computing the radial line measurement variation (RLMV). Results From fluoroscopic observation in fifty-nine patients, the extent of lesion motion was the largest in cephalo-caudal direction, with 14.3 mm for lesions in the lower and 7.1 mm (median) for middle part of the lung. In lateral and antero-posterior directions, it was within 4. 0 mm. The motion error during irradiation was 4. 2 mm in lateral direction and 4.6 mm in cephalo-caudal direction. The random error, system error and total error for set-up uncertainty were 3.4 mm, 6.0 mm, and 6.9 mm. Compared to the standard, the discrepancy of GTV could be as large as 150% . The largest RLMV was observed in the area of lung hilar nodes. Conclusions The target of 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy for lung cancer should be confirmed individually and delineated by a group of radiation oncologists. A more efficient fixing device is needed owing to the large total error for set-up.

Objective To explore the effects of rosiglitazone (ROSI),a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors-gamma (PPAR-γ) ligand,on hyperlipidemia in rats with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) associated with lung injury. Methods A total of 120 male SD rats received intragastric administration of high fat diet for two weeks to induce experimental hyperlipemia. The hyperlipidemic rats were randomly (random number) divided into six groups:hyperlipidemia (HL) group (n =20),hyperlipidemia with SAP (HP) group (n =20),hyperlipidemia with rosiglitazone intervention (HRP) group (n =20),hyperlipidemia with rosiglitazone and antagonist to rosiglitazone (HRGP) group (n =20),rosiglitazone control (HR) group (n =20) and antagonist control (HG) group (n =20).The SAP was induced by a retrograde infusion of 5% sodium tauroholate into bile-pancreatic duct, and the SAP was established in HP group,HRP group and HRGP group. In HL group,HR group and HG group, equivalent volume of normal saline was used instead of sodium taurocholate. In HRP group and HR group,ROSI (6 mg/kg) was administered via the femoral vein 1 hour prior to the administration of sodium taurocholate. In HRGP group,GW9662 (0.3 mg/kg),an antagonist to PPRA-gamma,was given via the femoral vein 30 min prior to the administration of ROSI.In HG group, only GW9662 (0.3 mg/kg) was given via the left femoral vein 30 min prior to pretend SAP modeling.Rats from each group were sacrificed by exsanguination 12 h after SAP modeling.Blood samples were taken from all subjects to measure serum amylase (AMY),total cholesterol (TC),triglycerides (TG),Successive sections of the paraffin embedded tissue from pancreas and lung were taken for pathological examination with hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining.Histopathological changes of pancreatic and pulmonary tissues observed under light microscope were evaluated. In pulmonary tissue, nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) p65 expression was assayed by immunohistochemistry.Intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM-1) protein and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-γ) protein levels were studied using Western blot analysis. Results The serum levels of TC and TG in HL group and HP group were significantly higher than those in HR group and HRP group (1.24 ± 0.28,1.14 0.08 vs.0.41 ±0.17,0.58±0.12;14.86±1.47,12.42±0.96 vs.6.52±2.04,7.36±0.95,allP< 0.05);The levels of serum AMY,W/D ratio, pancreas pathologic score, lung pathologic score, expression of NF-κB p65,ICAM-1 and TNF-α in pancreas in the HP group and HRGP group were significantly higher than those in HL group,HR group, and HG group (6 501.9 ±3 770.0,5 922.2 ±925.9 vs.1 139.3 ± 35.6,1 070.8 ±67.0,1 012.4 ±94.7;3.14±0.16,3.06±0.12vs.1.81 ±0.13,1.76±0.23,1.83 ± 0.18;all P <0.05);Compared with the HP group and HRGP group, the levels of serum AMY,TC and TG were significantly decreased in HR group and HRP group, ameliorating pancreas and lung pathological damage, and down-regulating the expression of NF-κB p65,ICAM-1 and TNF-α in pulmonary tissue (all P < 0.05).While there were no statistically significant differences in above biomarkers between HP group and HRGP group (all P > 0.05).Conclusions Our study demonstrates that ROSI exerts anti-hyperlipidemic effect and anti-inflammatory effect on hyperlipidemia in rats with sodium taurocholate-induced severe acute pancreatitis associated with lung injury by inhibiting NF-κB and down-regulating the expression of TNF-α and ICAM-1.

Objective:To measure the morphologic data of Chinese temporomandibular joint (TMJ) with computed tomography (CT) reconstruction technology, and to clarify the safe area for the fixation of Chinese temporomandibular joint prosthesis. Methods:A total of 100 adult skulls were scanned by CT and reconstructed. The width, thickness and angle h1,h2,h3,h4,d1,d2,d3,d4,ab,bc,cd,ad,α and β of zygomatic arch, the width and height BD and h of articular fossa and the width, thickness and angle S,h5,h6,h7,l1,l2,l3,l4,l5,m1,m2,m3,m4,m5 and γ of mandible in the fixed area of the TMJ prosthesis were measured;all the measurement indexes were divided into left and right groups by direction, and SPSS 19.0 software was used for the comparion of the measurement between left and right groups. Results:There were no statistical differences in the measurement index values of h1,h2,h3,h4,d1,d2,d3,d4,ab,bc,cd,ad,α,β,BD,h,S,h5,h6,h7,l1,l2,l3,l4,l5,m1,m2,m3,m4,m5 and γ in zygomatic arch, articular fossa and mandible in the fixed area of the TMJ prosthesis between left and right groups (P>0.05);the width of h2 was longer than that of h3 in zygomatic arch (P=0.048);the thickness of d3 was thicker than that of d4 (P<0.01).Conclusion:The measurement data of TMJ fixed area is obtained with three-dimensional CT images.
