1.Antitumor effect of imperatorin enhances cytotoxicity of doxorubicin to HeLa cells
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2015;(9):1578-1583
AIM:To determine whether imperatorin would enhance the effect of doxorubicin therapy on cervi -cal cancer in vitro.METHODS:The viability of HeLa cells treated with imperatorin and doxorubicin was determined by MTT assay in vitro. The expression of Bcl-2 protein family ( Mcl-1, Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, Bad and Bax ) in HeLa cells treated with imperatorin and doxorubicin was evaluated by Western blot analysis .The apoptosis and mitochondrial membrane poten-tial (ΔΨm ) in the HeLa cells treated with imperatorin and doxorubicin were analyzed by flow cytometry .A Mcl-1 expres-sion vector was constructed , and its role in the cytotoxicity of imperatorin plus doxorubicin to HeLa cells was detected by MTT assay.RESULTS: Addition of imperatorin significantly enhanced the cytotoxicity of doxorubicin to HeLa cells in vitro.Mcl-1 expression was down-regulated by imperatorin but was not influenced by doxorubicin in the HeLa cells .A com-bination of imperatorin and doxorubicin induced apoptosis and ΔΨm collapse more significantly compared with the treatment with imperatorin or doxorubicin alone .Furthermore, the imperatorin-induced sensitization for doxorubicin cytotoxicity to HeLa cells was abolished by the transfection with Mcl-1 expression plasmid .CONCLUSION:The combination of doxoru-bicin with imperatorin enhances the antitumor effect of doxorubicin on cervical cancer cells via targeting Mcl -1.

Objective To investigate and compare the perception of communication difficulties by mainstreaming students with hearing impairment and that of their peers. Methods The children’s version of the Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit (APHAB) was used to measure perceived communication difficulty in various daily situations. Results There was significant difference between the perception of mainstreaming students and that of their peers for the background noise(BN) subscale questions. Conclusion In order to improve the communication ability of the students with hearing impairment, it is critical to educate one of their important communication partners—their peers, about the hearing loss and its effect on communication, especially under the situation of background noise.

Objective To evaluate the effect of laparoscopy in treatment of renal cysts. Methods Twenty- eight and thirty-five patients with renal cysts were performed with transperituneal and retroperitonel laparoscopy,re- spectively. Results A total of 62 patients were treated successfully, the average operation time was 60 minutes,no complications presented, and there was no recurrence in follow-up.Conclusion Laparoseopy survey had the advan- tages of less trauma and fewer complications and rapid recovery in treatment of renal cysts, which was suggested for clinical applications.
5. Chemical constituents of non-alkaloids from Huperzia serrata
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2016;47(1):15-20
Objective: To investigate the non-alkaloids in Huperzia serrata. Methods: The constituents were mainly isolated and purified by means of silica gel, RP18, and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatographies. The structures were identified based on analyses of the spectral data of NMR and MS. Results: Totally 11 constituents were obtained from dichloromethane fraction of the plant and they were 3β-hydroxyserrat-14-en-21β-yl-p-dihydrocoumarate (1), seratenediol-3,21-diacetate (2), seratenediol-3-acetate (3), 21-epi-serratenediol-3-acetate (4), 3α,21β,24-trihydroxyserrat-14-en (5), 21-epi-serratenediol (6), serratenediol (7), 3α,21β-dihydroxy- serrat-14-en-16-one (8), 3β,21β,24-trihydroxyserrat-14-en (9), 3α,21β,24-trihydroxyserrat-14-en-16-one (10), and 1-dibenzofuranol (11). Conclusion: Compounds 1-10 are serratene-type triterpenoids and compound 11 is a dibenzofuranol. Compounds 1 is a new compound named as serratcoumarate and compounds 2 and 11 are isolated from the plant for the first time.

ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation of radiographic parameters and health-related quality of life(HRQOL) instruments before and after thoracolumbar kyphosis correction in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) kyphosis.MethodsThirty-eight AS patients with fixed thoracolumbar kyphosis were treated with pedicle subtraction osteotomies(PSO) in our hospital from January 2004 to March 2010.Pre- and post-operative radiological parameters,Cobb T1-S1,pelvic incidence(PI),pelvic tilt (PT),sacral slope (SS),and sagittal vertical axis(SVA) were measured. The Oswestry disability index(ODI) and scoliosis research society-22(SRS-22) questionnaire were used to evaluate the clinical results.Statistical correlation analysis was made to determine correlation between radiographic parameters and overall or partial specific scores of HRQOL instruments.ResultsThe life quality and related radiological spino-pelvic parameters were improved significantly after operation.Preoperatively,Cobb T1-S1,PT,SS,and SVA had partial correlation with ODI walking score and ODI standing score; postoperatively, only PT and SS had partial correlation with ODI.ConclusionPelvic positional parameters are the key parameters for upright activities, and making pelvis in a neutral position is the ultimate goal of surgery.

International Journal of Pediatrics 2014;(5):511-514
With the continuous development of imaging techniques, patients with congenital heart dis-ease,especially in complicated congenital cardiac malformations, have more choices for detection methods of ear-ly diagnosis. Nowadays, the widely used diagnostic imaging methods included echocardiography,CT,MRI,cardi-ac catheterization, and prenatal ultrasound examination. Clinicians should choose the appropriate means of ima-ging test depending on the situation. This article will focus on the clinical application of imaging diagnosis in complicateol congenital heart disease.

Chinese Journal of Microbiology and Immunology 2016;36(8):623-628
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is one of the proinflammatory cytokines produced by a subset of CD4+T cells named Th17 cells. It plays a crucial role in both host innate and adaptive immune responses against colonization and infection of respiratory tract bacteria. Studies in animal models have demonstrated that IL-17A can induce the expressions of various chemokines, inflammatory factors and adhesion molecules via multiple intracellular signaling pathways and recruit neutrophils to infection sites. Moreover, recent stud-ies have shown that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of IL-17A coding gene can regulate the produc-tion of IL-17A in serum, resulting in individual difference in colonization rate by Streptococcus pneumoniae. This review presents recent data related to the structure, functions and signaling pathways of IL-17A, sum-marizes its roles in host defense based on studies in animal models and discusses the effects of genetic varia-tion of IL-17A on colonization, susceptibility, clinical characteristics and disease prognosis of human respira-tory tract bacteria.

Objective To investigate the clinical features and surgical management of patients with blunt multiple severe injuries. Methods 165 patients whth the injury severity score (ISS) over 16 were reviewed between 1988 and 1998. Results 47 cases (28.5%) had 3 or more injury sites, and 63 cases had multiple intraabdominal organ trauma. Abdominal trauma was evaluated by abdominocentesis in 143 cases, by US in 65 and CT in 47. All had positive values over 90%. Missed diagnosis of intraabdominal injury occurred in 21 cases (12 7%). The total mortality rate was 17 6% (29 cases). The average ISS for the died was 41 6 and 24 8 for the survivors ( t =15 21, P
