DNA microarray is the first studied and the most matured form of the bio-chip, which generated huge amounts of data in a number of valuable hidden information. Scientists have attached more importance to the exploration and development for the analysis of these data. At present, many methods have been used for large-scale gene expression data mining, such as statistical analysis, cluster analysis and self-organizing map.This paper reviews the existing methods for analyzing experimental data collected from and introduces some new analytical methods.

Regarding the prevention and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recurrence after curative resection,surgeons do not have a clear consensus to evaluate the risk factors of recurrence and effectiveness of surgical resection.Therefore,postoperative HCC recurrence patterns were reviewed in this article,including differentiating intrahepatic metastasis (IM) and multicentric occurrence (MO),which play a key role in manifesting recurrence and patient prognosis.Additionally,the definitions of small HCC and curative resection,and the prophylactic and therapeutic values of anatomic resection and repeated hepatectomy in patients with recurrent HCC were reviewed.Fully understanding these issues might allow for a more objective,precise,and consistent clinical assessment of HCC.

Objective To explore the clinical value of u ltrasound-guided percutaneous aspiration and drainage for bacterial liver absces s in children. Methods Under the guidance of ultrasonography, 15 children with bacterial hepatic abscess underwent percutaneous aspiration or drainage. Among them, 9 were given percutaneous aspiration for 1~4 times, and 6 underwent percutaneous drainage. Results Percutaneous aspirati on or drainage was successfully accomplished in all the 15 children, 14 of whom were cured. The hospital stay was 15~42 days (mean, 26.3 days). No bleeding or b ile leakage happened. Follow-up for 4~12 months (mean, 6.8 months) in 11 childre n showed no recurrence. One patient with no improvement left hospital of his own accord. Conclusions Ultrasound-guided percutaneous aspiration and drainage is a feasible option for the treatment of liver abscess in childre n.

Objective To explore the main inhalational and alimentary allergens which triggers allergic asthma in children in Suzhou area.Methods The serum specific aspiration allergens were detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 119 children with bronchial asthma,including 7 kinds of common inhalational allergens.The 6 kinds of alimentary allergens test was conducted in 65 children.Results The total inhalational allergens positive rate of the subject was 75.63%(90/119).The highest rate was dust mite 49.58%(59/119),then was house dust 21.02%(25/119),animal hair 19.33%(23/119).The positive rate of aspiration allergens increased with the patient′s age and showed a positive correlation.Positive rate of food allergens was 49.23%(32/65).Of them,the highest rate was fish 20.0%(13 cases),then was lobster and claw 16.92%(11 cases),egg 12.31%(8 cases).Conclusions Inhalational allergens are the main allergens in children with asthma in Suzhou district.The positive rate of aspiration allergens increases with the patient′s age.The most common allergen is dust mite.The allergen test plays a clinically significant and advisable role in treatment and prognosis in bronchial asthma in children.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the type and corresponding operation methods of ulnar lateral mass in distal radial fractures.

METHODSFrom January 2004 to September 2010,32 cases of distal radial fractures with ulnar lateral mass were treated by surgical incision and relocate ulnar lateral mass,including 23 males and 9 females with an average age of (34 +/- 9) years old ranging from 28 to 65 years old. According to the classification of Melone-Doi, 2 cases with type I, 24 cases of type II, 6 cases with type III. The operative appoach involved palm-radial, palm-ulnar, radial-dorsal. Among them, 28 patients with closed fractures were fixed with plate, 4 cases (including 2 cases of open fractures) were fixed by Kirschner pin and braces.

RESULTSThirty-two patients were followed up for 8 to 18 months with an average of 12 months. All fractures were healing without complications. According to modified Gartland-Werley scoring system (GWSS), the total score was 1.12 +/- 0.45, the remain deformity was 0, subjective evaluation was 0.50 +/- 0.30, objective evaluation was 0.30 +/- 0.21, complications was 0.40 +/- 0.09; the result was excellent in 21 cases, good in 11 cases.

CONCLUSIONThe location of ulnar lateral mass in distal radial fractures is one of the important prognostic factors in wrist function and surgical treatment is an effective method of fixing ulnar lateral mass in distal radial fractures.

BACKGROUND:COX-2 gene actual y exists in the joint fibroblast-like synoviocytes, it affects osteoarthritis occurrence and development. Understanding the differences of COX-2 gene expression levels at different stages of osteoarthritis synoviocytes has important theoretical significance for the occurrence and development of osteoarthritis, as wel as the role of synoviocytes in this process.
OBJECTIVE:To analyze the difference of COX-2 mRNA at different stages of osteoarthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes.
METHODS:Synovial membrane from 44 osteoarthritis patients and 12 normal cases were selected. Primary cells were cultured to passage 4 fibroblast-like synoviocytes for the use in the experiment. COX-2 mRNA expression in osteoarthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes and normal fibroblast-like synoviocytes was detected using real-time fluorescence quantitative RT-PCR. The relative quantitative analysis was performed using 2-ΔΔCt method.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Expression of COX-2 mRNA in osteoarthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes was significantly higher than that in normal fibroblast-like synoviocytes (P<0.05). The expression levels reached a peak at early osteoarthritis group, with significant differences compared with middle and late osteoarthritis groups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between middle and later osteoarthritis groups (P>0.05). COX-2 mRNA might be important biological marker for the inflammation in osteoarthritis, and mainly plays a role in early osteoarthritis stage.

ObjectiveTo observe the therapeutic effects of calcium dobesilate combined with irbesartan in treating early diabetic nephropathy ( DN ).Methods65 patients with early DN were randomly divided into two groups,experiment group( irbesartan plus calcium dobesilate,n =34) and control group( irbesartan,n =31 ).After 24 week treatment,the urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER),fasting blood glucose ( FBG ),postprandial blood glucose (PBG) and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c) were detected and compared between two groups before and after treat ment.ResultsUAER after treatment was significantly reduced in both 2 groups(t =8.074,12.89,all P＜0.01),and the decrement in the experiment group was more obvious than that in the control group with statistical significance ( t =3.965,P ＜ 0.05).ConclusionCalcium dobesilate combined with irbesartan has good effects in the treatment of early DN.

Objective To compare the reliability and effectiveness of anterolateral thigh flap with double vein anastomosis or one vein anastomosis for reconstruction of head and neck defects.Methods Two hundred and sixty four cases of anterolateral thigh flap transfers for head and neck reconstruction from January,2013 to September,2013 in the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University were reviewed.260 patients were randomly divided into 2 groups.In the experimental group,there were 138 patients 140 cases of anterolateral thigh flap with one vein one artery anastomosis.In the control group,there were 122 patients 124 cases of anterolateral thigh flap with double vein one artery anastomosis.Results Among 264 anterolateral thigh flaps,the overall success rate of free flap was 98.1％ (259/264),5 free flaps were lost.In the experimental group,there were 6 free flaps occurred venous thrombosis,two of them were lost.In the control group,there were 5 cases occurred venous thrombosis,three of them were lost.No arterial thrombosis occurred in both groups.The time of micromanipulation was 18 to 101 min,with the average of 47 min in the experimental group.In the control group,the time was 45 to 133 min,with the average of 71 min.(P =0.0003).Conclusion Anterolateral thigh flap with one vein one artery anastomosis for head and neck reconstruction did not affect the survival rate but it can absolutely reduce the operation time.
