Fourly adult healthy patients were separately anesthetlzed with (1 )0. 95% isoflurane; (2) fentanyl 5g/kg and thiopentone 4 mg/kg; (3) upper thoracic epidural blockage and (4 ) lumbar epidural blockage,Continuous 5 min ECG were recorded before and a fier anesthesia with spectral analysis of heart rate varlability (HRV) performed by computer program. For power spectral measurement, three frequency band of HRV were evaluated and the effects of each anesthesia were compared. HRV reduced markedly in patients using 0. 95 % isoflurane. with decreases of frequency by 91. 7% (low frequency ), 84. 4% (mid frequency ). and 82% (high-frequency) respectively. In patients after administration of fentanyl 5g/kg, mid and high-frequency components declined 63. 4 % and 65. 4 %. Upper thoracic epidural block restrained the mid and low frequency components by 66 % and 65 % respectively, Following lumbar epidural block the pattern of HRV components did not change. It is concluded that different anesthesia techniques may have significant different effects on autonomic reflexes as presented by HRV.

The experiment was conducted to examine the effect of zinc toxicity on the peripheral blood T-lymphocyte by the method of flow cytometry(FCM) and ANAE.200 one-day-old Avian broilers were divided into four groups, and fed with the diets as follows:①control group(Zn 100 mg/kg diet) and ② zinc toxic groups(Zn 1 500 mg/kg diet, zinc toxic group Ⅰ;Zn 2 000 mg/kg diet, zinc toxic group Ⅱ;Zn 2 500 mg/kg diet, zinc toxic group Ⅲ) for seven weeks. The ANAE positive ratios of the peripheral blood T-lymphocytes were much lower in the three zinc toxic groups than that in control group at 7 weeks of age.CD4+ T cell numbers were reduced from 2 to 7 weekds of age in zinc toxic group Ⅲ and from 6 to 7 weeks of age in zinc toxic group Ⅱ,as compared with that of control group. The numbers of CD8+ T cell decreased at 2 and 4 weeks of age in zinc toxic groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ,and at 7 weeks of age in zinc grups Ⅰ and Ⅲ.CD4+/CD8+ ratio was higher at 2 and 4 weeks age,and lower at 6 and 7 weeks of age in zinc toxic groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ than in control group. The results showed that zinc toxicity would suppress the development of T-lymphocytes and reduce the peripheral blood T-lymphocyte populations.Potential mechanism underlying these observations are also discussed.

Objective To evaluate efficacy, feasibility and safety of the self-made percutaneous catheterized thrombectomy divice in animal model for thrombus removal. Methods Seven dogs were selected, with acute massive pulmonary embolism animal models created by injecting thrombi into the pulmonary arterial trunk via percutaneous femoral vein approach. After half an hours the catheter sheath was inserted into the occluded pulmonary artery through right femoral vein in 5 dogs, left femoral vein in 1 dog and right internal jugular vein in another one. The procedure began to remove the thrombi with simultaneous recording the thrombectomy time and the blood volume drainage. Blood gass was tested before and after embolization together with those of thrombi removement, continuously monitored pulmonary arterial pressure and intermittently performed angiography. The mean time form vascular recanalization to euthanasia was 2 hours, and then the lung specimens were resected for histological examination. Results One animal died of pulmonary arterial penetration during thrombi removal, but others were all alive by the end of the test. Mean time of removing thrombi was 2.4 minutes with mean volume blood drainage of 84 ml. Angiograms showed the approximately complete patency of the pulmonary arterial trunk after reopenning of occlusion but still with remnont thrombi within distal branches and arterial pressure with blood gas returned to normal level. Pathology revealed the recanalization of pulmonary arterial trunk but with thromi still staying in the distal branches, and effusion around the arteries. Conclusions The self-made percutaneous catheterized thrombectomy device is effective, feasible and comparatively safe in the treatment of acute massive pulmonary embolism in this primary test.

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical and pathological features of patients with anti-glomerular basement membrane(GBM) disease lacking linear IgG deposition along GBM on renal biopsy.Method Ninety-three patients with anti-GBM disease were collected in our hospital from 1991 to 2008,with 40 patients presenting negative linear IgG deposition along GBM on renal biopsy by direct immunofluorescence(group A) and 53 patients presenting classical linear IgG deposition along GBM(group B).The clinical manifestation, pathological presentation and prognosis were compared between two groups. Results Between two groups, there were no significant differences in gender, age, hemoptysis, oliguria or anuria, gross hematuria, proteinuria, anemia,ANCA positivity, level of circulating anti-GBM antibodies, the percentage of crescent formation in glomeruli and patient outcomes(P>0.05).Patients in group A were diagnosed significantly later than patients in group B(68 d vs 36 d,P=0.013) and serum creatinine was significantly lower at diagnosis(716.0 μmol/L vs 896.8 μmol/L,P=0.027).Direct immunofluorescence was performed on the paraffin-embedded renal sections from four patients in group A,and all of them revealed positive linear IgG deposition along GBM.Conclusions Patients with circulating anti-GBM antibodies but withont IgG deposition along GBM present slower progress of renal injury, but same clinical, pathological and prognostic features as those with classical anti-GBM disease.Serum anti-GBM antibodies should be prescribed earlier to the suspected patients, and the diagnosed patients should be treated with plasmapheresis and extensive immunosuppression to improve prognosis.

Objective To explore the value of the diagnosis of middle cerebral artery (MCA) stenosis with transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD). Methods The clinical data in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease examined with digital subtract angiography (DSA)and TCD were analyzed retrospectively. DSA was used as a gold standard to analyze the sensitivity and specificity of the diagnosis of MCA stenosis with TCD. The normal and TCD blood flow velocity with different degrees of stenosis were compared. The best cut-off point of the TCD blood flow velocity of MCA at different degree of stenosis was calculated. Results DSA confirmed that 103 patients had MCA stenosis or occlusion, in which 12 were mild stenosis, 22 were moderate stenosis, 40 were severe stenosis, and 39 were occlusion. Compared to DSA, the sensitivity of TCD in detection of moderate and severe MCA stenosis or occlusion was 78. 8%, the specificity was 96. 0%, and the accuracy was 93. 0%, the missed diagnosis rate was 21. 2%, and the misdiagnosis rate was 4. 0%. As to the blood flow velocity, there was no significant difference between the mild stenosis and normal groups; while there was significant difference between the moderate stenosis and normal groups (P <0. 001). In addition, there was no significant difference in blood flow velocity between the moderate stenosis and severe stenosis groups. Determining the cut-off value of the best peak systolic velocity of the moderate stenosis was 163. 5 cm/s, while the best cut-off value of the mean velocity was 108. 5 cm/s. Conclusions TCD has certain advantages in the diagnosis of the MCA stenosis or occlusion, and it can be used as a safe and inexpensive screening means before DSA examination.

Objective To observe expression and location of cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) in liver tissue of patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) ,and analyze the relationship of it with the liver fibrosis score, the serum levels of TGF-β1 and Leptin. Methods Liver biopsies were performed in 118 patients with CHB.The expression of CB1 in liver tissue was observed by immune histochemical staining, and semi-quantitative analysis was carried out to devide the CB1 score into four grades: -, +, + +, + + +. Serum levels of TGF-β1 and Leptin were determined by ABC-ELISA double-antibody sandwich method. Results The expression of CB1 in liver tissue with CHB had significant relationship with the fibrosis score. As the expression of the CB1 increased, the fibrosis score became higher ( F = 23. 369,P = 0. 000). Moreover, the expression of CB1 in liver tissue with CHB had significant relationship with the serum levels of TGF-β1 and Leptin( F values were 8. 762 and 5. 749;P values were 0. 001 and 0. 027, respectively). Conclusion CB1 may play promotive role in the process of hepatic fibrosis through regulation of TGF-β1 and Leptin.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2005;22(2):238-241
The hydroxyapatite (HA) powder surface modified with silane coupling agent was used to prepare HA/epoxy composite. It was found that silane has greatly improved the dispersion of HA in epoxy. The composite has good in vitro bioactivity and biocompatibility with 40 wt% HA, and the flexural modulus is close to that of natural bone, but its strength is lower than that of natural bone. So the composite needs further reinforcement in some way or other.

Objective:To compare outcomes between standardized and misdiagnosis and mistreatment of osteosarcoma. Methods:A retrospective analysis of patients with high-grade osteosarcoma who received appropriate surgical treatment and chemotherapy (299 cases, control group) and those who were misdiagnosed (benign or infective) and received mistreatment (23 cases, study group) between January 2009 and December 2021. Gender, age, first operation mode, recurrence time, recurrence interval, metastasis time, metastasis interval, total survival time (months), survival status in the two group and tumor site reoperation mode in the study group were statistically analyzed. Further, chi-square test was performed for comparison of the clinical between two groups. The survival analysis was performed using Kaplan-Meier test and Log-rank test. Results:All the 322 patients were followed up. In the control group, the average follow-up time was 42 months (1-137 months), the average age was 24 years (3-80 years), male 184 cases, female 115 cases, and limb salvage rate was 85.3% (255/299). Seven patients underwent amputation, and the amputation rate was 17.7% (44/299). The recurrence rate was 8.4% (25/299), the average recurrence interval was 22.8 months (7-36 months), and the metastasis rate was 28.1% (85/299), the average metastasis time was 32.7 months (0-58 months). In the study group, the average of follow-up time was 30 months (9-117 months), the average age was 36 years (5-67 years), 17 males and 6 females. Among them, eleven patients were treated with limb salvage in the second stage, and the limb salvage rate was 47.8% (11/23). Seven patients underwent amputation, and the amputation rate was 30.4% (7/23). The recurrence rate was 26.1% (6/23), the average recurrence interval was 11 months (1-42 months), and the metastasis rate was 43.4% (10/23), the average metastasis time was 20.3 months (1-44 months). The 5-year survival rate was 50.7% in the study group and 56.1% in the control group. There was no significant difference between the two groups (χ 2=0.09, P=0.760). Conclusion:The overall prognosis of patients with high-grade osteosarcoma who receive active treatment after mistreatment is similar to that of patients with standardized treatment, but the recurrence and metastasis rate is higher, the recurrence time is earlier, and the amputation rate is higher.

Radical prostatectomy(RP)was commonly used in localized prostate cancer. For patients with adverse pathological features (APF) after RP, it was controversial about choosing adjuvant radiotherapy or salvage radiotherapy (SRT). Recent studies have found that early salvage radiotherapy(ESRT) had both the same cancer control and reduced overtreatment compared to adjuvant radiotherapy. Nomogram and Gene Classifier(GC) could predict the risk of recurrence after RP and contribute to choose adjuvant radiotherapy or ESRT. PSMA PET/CT was more sensitive to detect distant metastasis after biochemical recurrence, which was helpful to decide whether to implement SRT.
