Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2013;27(22):1265-1268
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the expression of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and phosphorylated STAT3 (p-STAT3) protein in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), and to explore the correlation and significance between the expression of STAT3, p-STAT3 and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
METHOD:
The expression of STATS3. p-STAT3, E-cadherin and Vimentin protein in 56 cases of PTC specimens and adjacent normal tissues specimens ware detected by immunohistochemistry. The correlation of the expression of STATS, p-STAT3, E-cadherin and Vimentin protein in PTC with clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed.
RESULT:
The positive rates of STAT3, p-STAT3 in PTC tissue were significantly higher than those in adjacent normal tissues specimens respectively (P < 0.01). The positive rates of E-cadherin in PTC tissues were remarkably lower, compared to adjacent normal tissues specimens (P < 0.01), however the positive rates of Vimentin in PTC tissues were remarkably higher, compared to adjacent normal tissues specimens (P < 0.01). The expression of STAT3, p-STAT3, E-cadherin and Vimentin protein were associated with lymph node metastasis and clinical stage (all P < 0.05). The expression of STAT3 and p-STAT3 was negatively correlated with E-cadherin expression (r = -0.494 and r = -0.364, P < 0.01, respectively), but positively with Vimentin expression (r = 0.533 and r = 0.377, P < 0.01, respectively) in PTC tissues.
CONCLUSION
PTC tissues have STAT3 protein activation and EMT phenotype, as were all correlated significantly with PTC invasion and metastasis. STAT3 signaling pathway activation might mediate EMT and then promote PTC invasion and metastasis.

Objective To study the influence of bleeding after using low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with thoracolumbar spinal bursting fracture and spinal cord injury operated by rear internal fixation. Methods 120 cases were divided into the observation group (64 cases) and control group (56 cases). The observation group accepted hypodermic injection of LMWH to prevent DVT, while the control group did not. Results The volume of bleeding and blood transfusion, the change of red blood cell count (RBC) and hemoglobin were compared between two groups before and after operation. There is no statistical significance. Conclusion During the period of the operation of rear internal fixation, low molecular weight heparin cannot increase the bleeding and is safe to prevent deep vein thrombosis.

Chinese Journal of Primary Medicine and Pharmacy 2024;31(3):432-436
Objective:To analyze the clinical value of ultrasound monitoring of endometrial thickness in assessing pregnancy rate improvement after estrogen administration following a missed abortion. Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on 86 patients who underwent surgical abortion at Cixi Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2022 to June 2023. Based on the treatment received, the patients were divided into two groups: a control group and an observation group, with 43 patients in each group. The control group received only routine postoperative care without any medication, while the observation group received estrogen treatment after surgery. The clinical efficacy, endometrial thickness, intrauterine adhesion and re-pregnancy rate were compared between the two groups. Results:In the observation group, there was significant difference in endometrial thickness in terms of intergroup, group-by-time interaction, and time effect ( Fintergroup =129.49, Finteraction =14.25, Ftime =146.64, all P < 0.001). Intrauterine adhesions were less severe in the observation group compared with the control group ( χ2 = 4.34, P < 0.05). The clinical effective rate was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group [88.37% (38/43) vs. 69.76% (30/43), Z = 2.35, P = 0.019]. Additionally, the rate of re-pregnancy was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group [46.54% (20/43) vs. 13.95% (6/43), χ2 = 10.81, P < 0.05]. Conclusion:Patients who have retained abortion can benefit from ultrasound examination to assess endometrial thickness after estrogen administration. This approach significantly enhances endometrial thickness, promotes menstrual recovery, and reduces intrauterine adhesions. It also improves the rate of re-pregnancy and is highly valuable in clinical settings.

Objective:To explore the impact of multidisciplinary transitional nursing on AIDS patients' nursing participation, nursing continuation and virus suppression. Methods:A total of 322 patients with AIDS who were hospitalized in the Infection Department of Dalian Sixth People's Hospital from March 2014 to March 2018 were selected and randomly divided into general nursing group and multidisciplinary transitional nursing group with 161 cases in each group. The demographic and clinical data of each patient were recorded and compared, and the barriers of patients to participate in nursing and medical consultation were recorded. Consulted The patients were consulted about the nursing participation before hospitalization and the times of nursing continuation. After one year of follow-up, the number of cases of nursing participation, nursing continuity and virus suppression were recorded. The differences between the two groups were compared. The patients in the multidisciplinary transitional care group were divided into three subgroups after discharge, and the comparison between the subgroups was made. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed. Results:In the multidisciplinary nursing group, 119 cases (81.51%, 119 / 146) and 105 cases (71.92%, 105 / 146) were involved in nursing and 105 cases (71.92%, 105/146) in the multidisciplinary nursing group, and 100 cases (62.11%, 100/161) and 90 cases (55.90%, 90/161) in the general nursing group 1 year after discharge, respectively. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant ( χ2 value was 14.09, 8.48, P<0.05). There was a significant difference in the number of cases in the multidisciplinary transitional care group without consulting the subgroup, only the medical and nursing consulting subgroup and medical, and the nursing and social support consulting subgroup in nursing participation, nursing continuation and increased viral suppression ( χ2 value was 22.90, 37.21, 23.07, P<0.05). The results of the regression model suggested that patients with medical and nursing consultation only, patients with medical, nursing, and social consultation had OR value of 1.67 and 1.89 compared with patients without consultation. The OR value was 1.35 and 1.76, which were significantly different. Conclusions:Through multidisciplinary transitional nursing, it can significantly improve nursing participation and nursing continuity and can improve virus suppression.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2021;23(6):489-494
Objective:To evaluate the Ganz approach in the internal fixation of Pipkin Ⅳ femoral head fracture. Methods:The data of 7 patients with Pipkin Ⅳ femoral head fracture were retrospectively analyzed who had been admitted to Department of Orthopaedics, Xijing Hospital from March 2013 to April 2019. They were 5 males and 2 females, aged from 23 to 66 years (average, 40.5 years). The time from injury to operation ranged from 5 to 13 days (average, 7.3 days). In all the 7 patients, the Ganz approach was adopted in the internal fixation with double-head compression screws for femoral head fracture and in the internal fixation with screws plus a reconstruction plate for acetabular fracture. Their operation time, intraoperative bleeding, fracture reduction, hip functional recovery and complications were recorded. The hip function was assessed by Harris hip score. Results:Their operation time ranged from 155 to 235 min (mean, 197.9 min) and their intraoperative bleeding from 450 to 765 mL (mean, 590.0 mL). This cohort was followed up for 12 to 86 months (mean, 34.4 months). According to the Letournel recommended criteria for reduction quality of acetabular fractures, anatomical reduction was achieved in 6 cases and satisfactory reduction in one; according to the Thompson-Epstein clinical and imaging evaluation, the reduction of femoral head fracture was excellent in 6 cases and good in one. Their Harris hip scores at the last follow-up ranged from 92 to 97 (mean, 93.0). Traumatic arthritis developed in one case which was still under observation and muscular vein thrombosis developed in the affected limb in 2 cases but was organized after standard treatment. Conclusion:In the treatment of Pipkin Ⅳ femoral head fracture, the Ganz approach can lead to good reduction quality and fine functional recovery of the hip.
