AIM: To study the liver protective hypolipidemic function of Artemisia capillaries Thunb on the fatty liver rats with insulin resistance of action. METHODS: Adult SD rats were maintained by high-fat-sugar-salt diet for 8 weeks, and extraction of Artemisia capillaries Thunb(high dosage 6.9 g/kg,low dosage 2.3 g/kg) was administered to the rats for 4 weeks by intragastric administration at the begining of 9~(th) week. And then all animals were killed and the blood was sampled to measure the levels of blood glucose, blood lipid(TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C,FFA),fasting serum insulin and the levels of MDA and TGF-?_1.The activities of ALT,AST and SOD also were measured. The liver was weighed and collected to observe the pathological changes. RESULTS: Compared with model rats, the levels of blood glucose and insulin decreased significantly in the treatment of Artemisia capillaries Thunb, and insulin sensitivity index returned to normal condition(P

Objective To evaluate the value of bile duct drainage using ureter catheter through cystic duct remnant with primary closure of the common bile duct(CBD) incision after CBD exploration. Methods (Retrospective) analysis of the clinical data of 218 cases using this method. Results All cases were operated on successfully. There were no complications such as bile leakage, bile duct stricture in this series. The (catheter) were removed 5-7 days after operation in 215 cases,10 days after operation in 3.None of the 218 cases had complications after removal of the catheter. The rate of stone clearance was 99.7%(217/218).Average hospitalization time after operation was(6.5?3.0)days.All the 218 cases were followed up for 1-5 years. On ultrosounography no bile duct stricture was found in the followed up cases. Conclusions (Using) ureteral catheter through cystic duct remnant for drainage of bile duct after CBD exploration with primary closure of the CBD is an effctive, reliable and safe method in preventing postoperative bile leakage, bile duct stricture and diagnosis of the postoperative retention of bile duct stones.

Objective To explore the efficacy of catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) for acute deep venous thrombosis (DVT) of lower limbs. Methods The clinical data of 36 patients with acute DVT of lower limbs treated by CDT form September 2009 to September 2013 were analyzed respectively.Efficacy were assessed through observation of the circumferences, venous patency score and venous patency rate before and after thrombolysis. Results After treated by CDT,the effect of only 1 case with left lower limb DVT associated with inferior vena cava thrombosis was not obvious. The effects of 22 cases were excellence, and 13 cases were good. The total efficiency was 97.2%(35/36).The venous patency scores before and after CDT were (11.85 ± 1.12),(3.6 ± 1.53) points, and there had significant difference (P < 0.01).After CDT,the venous patency rate was (69.6 ± 14.8)%.Conclusion Multi-channel CDT with small saphenous vein for acute DVT of lower limbs is safe and effective, with less invasion and quicker recovery. It is worthy of promotion in clinic.

Clinical and imageological characteristics of Paget's disease of bone in 7 patients who were treated in our hospital from 1991 to 2007 were analyzed. The data showed (1) 6 patients had the symptoms of bone pain and bone deformity, with more long bones involved; (2) Serum alkaline phosphatase was over normal range; (3) Imageology showed that osteoclasia was usually combined with bone sclerosis; (4) All the patients were treated with bisphosphonates; (5) 2 patients with serious bone deformity were treated with orthomorphia. Paget's disease of bone is a kind of metabolic bone disease with the characteristics of osteoclasia combined with bone sclerosis. The main features are bone pain and bone abnormality. Bisphosphonates are the first choice of drugs. Patients with serious bone deformity should be treated with orthomorphia.

Objective To explore the telomere length (TL) in buccal cells and its possible implications for long-lived families of Zhuang nationality in Bama area of Guangxi. Methods Relative TL in buccal cells from Bama long-lived families (BLF,n=1250) was determined by real time PCR and compared between Bama non-long-lived families (BNLF,n=556) and Pingguo longlived families (PLF,n=630).All participants were Zhuang ethnic. Results The TL in buccal cells was negatively correlated with age (R=-0.215,P=0.000) and was independent of sex in all subjects (n=2436).There were no significant differences in TL between males and females in different of ages in BLF (all P>0.05).Similar tendency was observed in most but not all age groups in the two other families. The TL was significantly longer in BLF aged over 65 years (the first offspring of the longlived individual) than in BNLF aged over 65 years (1.969 vs.1.622,P=0.004) and the TL of BLF aged over 90 years was comparable to that of BNLF aged over 65 years (1.662 vs.1.622,P=0.955),which indicating that the offspring of long-lived individuals inherited longer TL from their parental generation. Conclusions Telomere length is shorten with aging in long-lived families in Bama area. The TL of BLF has a tendency of inheritance, which may be one of the mechanisms of longevity in Bama area.

Objective To investigate the effect of total glucosides of paeong (TGP) on the liver lipid infiltration and fibrosis in rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) induced by fructose and high-fat diet. Methods Fructose-high-fatty induced NAFLD rat model was established. Metformin ( MET,200 mg · kg-1 ) and TGP (200,100 mg · kg-1 ) was intragastrically given to the rats in the treatment group,TGP high dose and low dose group, respectively. Normal control group and model control group was intragastrically treated with equivalent distilled water (10 mL·kg-1 ). At the fourth week after the treatment, all the rats were sacrificed and the indices such as serum fasting blood glucose(FBG),INS,insulin sensitivity index (ISI),triglycerides(TG),apelin-36,visfatin,alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),free fatty acid (FFA),collagen Ⅲ(COLⅢ),collagen Ⅳ(COLⅣ) were determined. Hepatic content of TG was determined and the pathological changes in the liver tissues were observed under the microscope. Results As compared with the model control group,TGP effectively decreased FBG,INS,TG in serum and liver tissues, activity of ALT and AST in serum and content of FAA,Apelin, Visfatin,COLⅢ and COLⅣ,with significant differences (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). TGP alleviated lipid infiltration and fibrosis in rat liver tissues. Conclusion TGP can inhibit effectively lipid infiltration and fibrosis of NAFLD rats, probably through improving glucolipid metabolism and antogonizing insulin resistance.

Objective To investigate subtype of HPV infection among women at age of 25 to 54 years in Beijing. Methods From Sept. 2006 to Dec. 2008, 5552 reproductive women at age of 25 to 54 years classified into each 5-year as group were screened. Each participant completed a questionnaire and a sample of exfoliated cervical cells for liquid-based cytology and HPV subtype gene testing was performed. Results The overall prevalence of HPV was 6.68% (371/5552). High-risk HPV and Low-risk HPV prevalence were 5.76% (320/5552) and 2.00% (111/5552), respectively. The most common HPV types were HPV16 (2.61%, 145/5552), HPV58 (0. 97%, 54/5552), HPV33 (0.85%, 47/5552), HPV43 (0.74% ,41/5552) and HPV56(0.70% ,39/5552). There were two peaks of HPV prevalence: groups of 30 -34 years and 40 -44 years. Conclusion The most common HPV subtypes in Beijing were HPV 16,58, 33 and 43 and HPV prevalence showed a bi-medal age-specific curve.
