Objective To analyze the role of sleep quality (SQ) in quality of life (QOL) ofheroin addicts receiving methadone maintenance treatment (MMT).Methods A total of 603 heroin addicts completed the socio-demographic questionnaire,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI),and the World Health Organization'sQuality of Life Questionnaire-Brief Version (WHOQOL-BREF).Hierarchical Multiple Linear Regression was used to examine the unique contribution of SQ in the explanation of QOL.Results The overall unique contributions of the seven components in PSQI,measured by △R2,ranged from 0.139 to 0.216,which could account for 41.3％ ～55.7％ of the total explainable variance in the four domains of WHOQOL-BREF.Conclusion SQ is an important predictor of Q0L in heroin addicts receiving MMT.QOL can be improved through the intervention of low SQ.

Objective To analyze the family and clinical characteristics of talking about killing self (TAKS) among children and adolescents and its relationship with social competency.Methods One thousand nine hundred and seventy-five 7-17-year-old students from 12 schools (each four for primary,middle and high schools) of Wuhan area,were approached through multistage random cluster sampling,and administered with a self-designed general information questionnaire and the Chinese version of Children' s Depression Inventory.In addition,subjects' parents completed Achenbach' s Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL).TAKS was judged based on item 91 (talk about killing self) of CBCL.Multiple Logistic Regression was used to identify factors associated with TAKS.Results The half-year prevalence rate (95％ CI) of parent-reported TAKS was 4.1％ (3.2％,5.0％).TAKS was significantly associated with bad marital status of parents (OR=2.29),unemployment of fathers (OR=2.07),frequently jangling between father and mother (OR=2.23),parents ever having fought with each other intensely (OR=2.00),being frequently bullied by classmates (OR=2.11),internal behavior problem (OR=2.28),external behavior problem (OR=2.50) and depressive symptoms (OR=4.83).TAKS subjects had significantly lower social compctency score than non-TAKS subjects((18.8±7.6) vs.(20.9±6.9),P=0.007).Conclusion The prevalence of TAKS is higher among children and adolescents with several disadvantaged family factors,behavior problems and depression.Children and adolescents with TAKS also have worse social competency.More close clinical attention should be paid to such phenomenon.

Objective To explore the relationship between smoking and pain intensity in heroin-dependent patients (HDPs) receiving methadone maintenance treatment (MMT).Methods A total of 603 HDPs from MMT outpatients completed a socio-demographic and clinical characteristics questionnaire,a smoking questionnaire,Heaviness of Smoking Index,and Zung's Self-rating Depression Scale.Five-point Verbal Rating Scale was used to assess pain intensity.Results After adjustment for the confounding effects of socio-demographics,clinical characteristics,and depressive symptoms in the analysis of covariance,smokers had significantly higher pain intensity score compared with non-smokers (F=1 1.836,P=0.002).Multiple comparisons showed that the pain intensity level of patients with moderate-to-severe nicotine dependence was the highest,patients with mild nicotine dependence took the second place,and patients with no nicotine dependence was the lowest [(3.11±1.04) vs.(2.67±1.13) vs.(2.47± 1.15),all P＜0.05].Conclusion Smoking is significantly associated with pain in HDPs receiving MMT.The more severe the nicotine dependence that a HDP has,the intense the pain he/she has.

Objective To explore the relationship between depression and anxiety and peripheral blood cell counts ( white blood cell ( WBC) ,neutrophil ( NEU) ,lymphocyte ( LYM) ,red blood cell ( RBC) and hemoglobin ( HGB) ) of heroin?dependent patients receiving methadone maintenance treatment ( MMT) . Methods Two hundred and fifty?two MMT heroin addicts, who had received peripheral blood tests within the week prior to the study,were administered with a general information questionnaire,SDS and SAS. The results of blood tests of these patients were compared with those of 109 healthy people in physical examina?tion. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze associations between indicators of peripheral blood cell counts and depressive and anxiety symptoms. Results Compared with healthy controls,MMT patients had significantly higher proportions of elevated WBC(14.7%vs 3.7%),NEU(12.7% vs 2.8%) and LYM(9.9%vs 2.8%) counts (all P<0.05),and low RBC(10.3%vs 4.6%) counts and HGB(11.5%vs 4.6%) concentra?tion (both P<0.05). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that blood cell counts of WBC ( β=0.261, P<0.01),NEU ( β=0.264, P<0.01),LYM ( β=0.196, P=0.003) and RBC ( β=-0.144, P=0.021) were independently associated with depression;and blood cell counts of WBC ( β=0.298, P<0.01) and LYM ( β=0.269, P<0.01) were independently associated with anxiety. Conclusion Improving the in?flammatory and malnutrition status may be helpful for reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms of MMT her?oin addicts.

Background Bevacizumab and triamcinolone acetonide (TA) has been widely used in the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) clinically,but the effectiveness of both treatment has disadvantage.Therefore,some researchers try to combine bevacizumab with TA for the management of DME,but its efficacy is controversial.Objective This study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intraovitreal injection of bevacizumab combined with TA versus bevacizumab for DME.Methods The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of bevacizumab combined with TA versus bevacizumab via intraovitreal injection for DME were searched from Pubmed,EMbase,Cochrane Library,CNKI.The methodological quality of the literature was evaluated according to evidencebased medicine (EBM),and the quality of the RCTs was appraised based on the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions Version 5.0.The outcome indicators including the change values of central macular thickness (CMT) and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) as well as the safety indicators including topical and system adverse response of RCTs were analyzed with Cochrane Collaboration' s software RevMan 5.0.Results Nine RCTs were included with 665 eyes.The decrease value of CMT was more remarkable in the bevacizumab combined with TA group than that of the only bevacizumab group 12 weeks and 18 weeks after intravitreal injection (WMD =-44.69,95％ CI:25.27-64.11,P ＜ 0.000 001 ; WMD =-66.86,95％ CI:40.67-93.05,P ＜ 0.000 001).However,no significant differences were found in the change value of CMT in 6 weeks and 6 months after injection between the two groups (WMD =-15.40,95％ CI:-4.04-34.85,P =0.12 ; WMD =-2.57,95％ CI:-19.62-24.75,P =0.82).The improvement value of BCVA (LogMAR) in the bevacizumab combined with TA group was superior to that of the only bevacizumab group 6 weeks after injection (WMD =-0.04,95 ％ CI:-0.08--0.00,P =0.05),but there were no significant differences between the two groups at 12weeks,18 weeks and 6 months after treatment (WMD =-0.04,95％ CI:-0.12-0.05,P=0.36;WMD =-0.04,95％ CI:-0.11-0.03,P=0.28; WMD =0.03,95％ CI:-0.05-0.12,P=0.45).The incidence rate of transient anterior response after injection was not significantly different between the two groups (RR =0.89,95％ CI:0.49-1.60,P =0.70).Secondary ocular hypertension after injection occurred in 30 eyes in the bevacizumab combined with TA group,but no hypertension was seen in the only bevacizumab group.Conclusions Compared with only bevacizumab,intravitreal injection of bevacizumab combined with TA has a better efficacy in improving CMT but no obvious dominant in increasing BCVA for early DME.Intravitreal injection of bevacizumab combined with TA seemingly has a higher risk of inducing controllable ocular hypertension than administration of only bevacizumab.

A new method was developed for the separation and determination of inosine monophosphate (IMP) by ion chromatography (IC) with suppressed conductivity detection. Separation was achieved on an anion-exchange column Ionpac AS11-HC of high capacity within a short time. 30 mmol/L KOH produced by an EGC-KOH eluent generator was used for isocratic elution. No interferences existed between the seven common inorganic anions and IMP. Under the optimum conditions, the linear range of the calibration curve for IMP was 1. 0-200 mg/L, with correlation coefficient ( R2 ) of 0. 999. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) for retention time, peak height and peak area of IMP were 0. 16%, 0. 94% and 0. 86%, respectively, indicating good reproducibility of the method. The method was successfully applied to the determination of IMP in meat products, with spiked recovery ranging from 86. 0% to 110. 0%. This simple, accurate and reliable method could be served as a rapid and effective analytical tool for meat flavoring research.

Objective To investigate the population genetic polymorphisms of 24 Y-STR loci in unrelat-ed individuals in Eastern Chinese Han population, and to compare the difference of Han group between Eastern China and Guangdong.Methods The population genetics of 24 Y-STR loci in 268 unrelated Han individuals from Eastern China were analyzed by GFS 24 Y-STR amplification kit. The allele fre-quencies in Eastern Chinese Han population were compared with the data in Guangdong Han population, and the difference analysis between two groups was performed.Results Among the 24 Y-STR loci of 268 unrelated Han individuals from Eastern China, 235 alleles and 267 haplotypes were observed. GD value ranged from 0.5649 to 0.9668. The difference between 12 loci(DYS622,DYS552,DYS443etal.) of Han population in Eastern China and in Guangdong was statistically significance.Conclusion GFS 24Y STR amplification system shows favorable polymorphisms, which can be used in patrilineal genetic relationship identification.

Objective To assess the patterns oflinkage disequilibrium (LD ) of16 STR loci on X chrom o-som e and investigate the genetic stability. Methods G enom ic DNA samples extracted from blood stains from 500 unrelated individuals and 885 lineage m em bers from E astern C hinese H an population were genotyped through m ultiplex am plification using ID typerX-16 kit by our independent research followed by capillary electrophoresis. LD was assessed by PowerM arker v3.25 software and m utation rate of every locus was analyzed. Results LD were not found at the 16 X-STR loci. A llele m utations were observed at 10 loci. A m ong them , m utation rates of DXS6809 and DXS7132 were both up to 0.004 8. Conclusion W hen the 16 X-ST R loci included in ID typerX-16 kit were used for parentage testing, product princi-ples can be applied to calculate the likelihood, but m utation should be taken into consideration in the case that the genotypes do not m eet the genetic law(especially at DXS6809 and DXS7132).

Objective:To study the quality of life of elders enjoying five guarantees in rural welfare institute.Methods:By a multi-stage cluster sampling stratification method,549 rural elders enjoying five guarantees(A group)and 131 rural common elders(B group),aged 60 years and older,were randomly selected from 6 counties and cities in Hubei province.The Short-Form 36 Health Survey Scale(SF-36)was employed in the investigation by face-to-face interviews.Results:Group A had higher score than Group B in terms of role limitations due to physical health(RP),general health perceptions(GH),vitality(VT),role limitations due to emotional problems(RE),and mental health(MH )[e.g.,GH:(55.7±23.8)vs.(52.3±24.4),P<0.05].People in mountain areas had lower score than those in both plain and hill areas in terms of all factors of SF-36 scale[e.g.,PF(77.7±22.0),(72.4±25.5)vs.(65.5±26.7),P<0.05].Conclusion:The elders in rural welfare institute have a good quality of life,which is influenced by different geographical situation significantly.
