Objective To establish the method of high performance liquid chromatography and hydrid genesis atomic fluorescence spectroscopy(HPLC-HGAFS) about arsenic species in urine of rats treated with sodium arsenite.Methods The solution containing 15 mmol/L(NH4)2HPO4(pH=6.0)was used as the chromatographic eluant,the flow rate of which was 1.0 ml/min.The parameters of HPLC-HGAFS consisted of multiplier negative high voltage,hollow-cathode lamp's joint current and co-current,the flow rate of carrier gas,the flow rate of barrier shield gas,supporting liquid and reducing agent,which were 285 V,80 mA,36 mA,400 ml/min,600 ml/min,7%HCl and the mixed liquor of 1.5%KBH4 and 0.35% KOH respectively.Results The linear range of method was 20-100 ?g/L,and the linearity of regression equation of iAs3+,iAs5+,DMA was better.The lowest detection concentration of iAs3 +,iAs5 +,DMA in urine were 12.03,6.67 and 8.66 ?g/L respectively and all of the coefficient correlation were ≥0.98.The average recovery rates of DMA were 96.5%-103.4% and RSDs were 0.39%-1.26%.Conclusion The method has been proved accurate,sensitive and is applicable to the determination of arsenic species in urine.

Objective To evaluate the importance of the prenatal diagnosis to fetus with mild ventriculomegaly ( MVM) in pregnancy outcome and prognosis. Methods The ultrosonographic results of 51 pregnant women who were admitted to our hospital were collected in this study. In each case,a thorough evaluation of fetal anatomy was performed,karyotyping or MRI was done if needed,and follow-up was done un-til afterbirth. Results In 51 cases of lateral ventriculomegaly fetal:ultrasonography indicated there were 26 fetuses with mild ventriculomega-ly. The incidence of MVM complicated with other abnormities was 46. 0%,and that complicated with chromosome disorder was 11. 5%. Con-clusion Ultrasonography plays an important role in the detection of MVM. Chromosome analysis should be carried out for elder pregnant women when their fetuses are diagnosed as MVM and other complicating abnormities.

AIM: To establish the method for quality control of Gutongning Liniment(Herba Epimedii,Semen Strychni,Herba Ephedrae,etc.) METHODS: Herba Ephedrae,Radix Notoginseng,Ramulus Cinnamomi,Flos Caryophylli,Flos Daturae were identified by TLC,icariin content in Herba Epimedii and strychnine content in Semen Strychni were determined by HPLC. RESULTS: The identified characteristics of chromatography were distinct and the spots were clear.Icariin showed a good linear relationship at a range of 0.2-1.2 ?g,r=0.999 8.The(average) recovery was 10.3%,and RSD was 1.5%.Strychnine showed a good linear relationship at a range of 0.8-4.8 ?g,r=0.999 7.The average recovery was 99.17%,and RSD was 1.4%. CONCLUSION: The methods are accurate and reliable,and can be used to control the quality of this preparation effectively.

Objective To summerize the clinical experience of 23 cases of carotid cavernous fistula(CCF) and discuss the treatment strategy. Methods Retrospectively analyzed 23 patients(11 males and 12 females) of CCF,including 14 patients with Barrow type A,1 with type B,1 with type C and 7 with type D. Results Vascular approach for embolization was undertaken in 20 cases by transarterial access and 2 via venous route while 1 case was given up. Among them,9 cases obtained complete occlusion by simple balloon embolization and 5 were treated by direct occlusion of internal carotid artery. Another 5 cases used NBCA glue for the occlusion,1 case was embolized by gelatin-sponge particulates combined with compression of carotid artery,2 cases were treated by coil embolization of cavernous sinus and 1 case was only managed by carotid compression maneuver. We achieved satisfactory clinical results with 21 patients cured and 2 patients improved. Conclusion Complexity and refractory are the characteristic of CCF,and endovascular treatment should be the major choice of treatment. (J Intervent Radiol,2006,15: 323-326)

Objective:To study the effect of intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy combined with venoclysis on postoperative gastric cancer.Methods:140 postoperative patients with gastric cancer were divided into IPHPC group(n=72) and chemotherapy of venoclysis group(n=68).The intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy and chemotherapy of venoclysis were applied for the patients in IPHPC group at one time.Postoperative complications,toxicity,survival rate and peritoneal recurrence rate in two groups were observed.Results:There was no sharp difference in the postoperative complications and toxicity between the two groups.The 3,5 year-survival rate were 86.1%,60.2% and 58.3%,29.4% in IPHPC group and CV group.The 3,5 year-peritoneal cavity recurrence rate were 5.6%,20.6%and 27.8%,53% in IPHPC group and CV group.There were significant differences in survival rate and peritoneal recurrence rate between the two groups.Conclusion:Intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy combined with venoclysis can prevent recurrence and metastasis effectively,and improve the survival rate and quality of life of postoperative gastric cancer patients.

Objective To study the changes of serum protein spectrum in patients with systematic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in order to screen specific protein markers. Methods Serum samples from 72 patients with SLE and 85 age- and sex-matched controls were assessed using surface-enhanced laser desorp-tion/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) with weak cation exchange (CM10) pro-rein chip. Forty samples from the patients and 50 control samples were randomly selected to serve as a pre-liminary training set; significantly different protein peaks were automatically chosen for the system training and development of a decision classification tree model. The validity of the model was then challenged with a blind test set (including another 32 samples from patients and 35 from human controls). Results A total of 73 effective protein peaks were detected within the mass/charge ratio (m/z) interval 2000 - 50000, among which, 15 protein peaks significantly differed between patients with SLE and controls (P < 0.01). Three pro-tein peaks with an m/z value of 4001, 6305 and 7356 were automatically chosen as a biomarker pattern in the training set that discriminated patients with SLE from controls with a sensitivity of 90.0% (36/40), speci-ficity of 92.0% (46/50) and accuracy rate of 91.1% (82/90). When the SELDI marker pattern was tested with the blinded test set, it yielded a sensitivity of 87.5% (28/32), specificity of 91.4% (32/35) and accuracy rate of 89.6% (60/67). Conclusions SELDI-TOF-MS protein chip could be used to screen serum protein for SLE, and the decision classification tree model with these biomarkers may favor the diagnosis of SLE.

Objective To investigate the safety of different intensity anticoagulation therapy of warfarin in preventing thromboembolism in octogenarian patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). Methods The 130 patients with persistent or permanent NVAF were randomly divided into three groups: low-intensity warfarin group (35 cases, international normalized ratio, INR (1.5-2.0), moderate-intensity warfarin group (32 cases, INR 2.1-2.5) and aspirin control group (63 cases). The rate of hemorrhagic events and the effect on renal function were observed. Results The incidence of hemorrhage was the lowest in low-intensity warfarin group compared to the other groups with slight bleeding in one case. life-threatening bleeding in one case, severe bleeding in one case and slight bleeding in four cases occurred in moderate-intensity warfarin group. Life-threatening bleeding in three cases, severe bleeding in two cases and slight bleeding in six cases occurred in aspirin control group. There were significant differences in bleeding incidence among the three groups (χ2=5.13,P＜0.05). The low-intensity warfarin group and moderate-intensity warfarin group were superior to the aspirin control group in the effect on renal function (P＜0.05). Conclusions It is safe that the dose of warfarin is maintained at low anticoagulation intensity between INR 1.5 and 2.0 in octogenarians with NVAF.

Objective To detect serum ubiquitin-like with PHD and ring finger domains 1 (UHRF1) levels in the patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC),and analyze their differences among different clinicopathological features subgroups and changes during the perioperative period.Methods Serum samples from 130 preoperative ESCC patients,62 patients 1 week after operation,14 patients 1 week and 2 weeks after operation and 67 healthy controls,and clinicopathological data from ESCC patients were collected.Serum UHRF1 levels were detected by ELISA,and the differences among different groups were analyzed with independent t test,paired t test or one-way ANOVA.Results Serum UHRF1 levels in 130 preoperative ESCC patients were significantly higher than that in healthy controls (t =7.680,P ＜ 0.01),and they were related to the ESCC patients' tumor size,differentiation degree,tumor invasion,lymph nodes metastasis and pTNM stage (P ＜ 0.05),but unrelated to the patients' age,gender,tumor location and types (P ＞ 0.05).Serum UHRF1 levels in 62 postoperative patients were significantly lower than that before operation (t =5.530,P ＜ 0.01),but similar to that in healthy controls (t =1.622,P ＞ 0.05).The serum UHRF1 levels before operation,1 week after operation and 2 weeks after operation in 14 ESCC patients decreased gradually (F =7.595,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion Serum UHRF1 levels may be a potential biomarker for dynamically monitoring perioperative ESCC patients.

ObjectiveTo study the correlation between contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) features and Nottingham prognostic index (NPI) in patients with breast carcinoma. Methods The ultrasound features and microvascular imaging manifestation of 91 breast carcinomas confirmed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed.NPI was typically stratified into 3 major groups:NPI ＜ 3.4 ( n =19 ), NPI:3.4-5.4 ( n =52 ) and NPI ＞5.4(n =21 ). Results With the increase of NPI, the rate of heterogeneous enhancement, perfusion defects, edge enhancement higher than center enhancement, and unclear border increased.The difference among the 3 groups had statistical significance (P ＜ 0.05 ).There was no significant difference in enhancement order among the 3 groups ( P ＞ 0.05 ).The lesions of the 3 groups were mainly “high enhancement” and there was no significant difference among the 3 groups ( P ＞ 0.05 ).With the increase of NPI, the rate of early enhancement and late regression increased.The difference among the 3 groups had statistical significance ( P ＜ 0.05 ).With the increase of NPI, the rate of enlarged and twisted vessels as well as peripheral vessel burr increased.There was significant difference among the 3 groups ( P ＜ 0.05 ).ConclusionCEUS festures and microvescular architecture pattern of breast carcinoma are related to NPI, which is useful in predicating the prognosis of breast carcinoma.
