Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of nasal endoscope surgery on chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps in geriatric patients.Methods A total of 132 geriatric patients with chronic sinusitis and nasalpolyps underwent nasal endoscope surgery in our hospital from Jun.2010 to Jun.2014,and the therapeutic effect was investigated.Results In the 132 cases,92 cases were cured (69.7％).Therapeutic effects were excellent in 33 cases (25.0％),and invalid in 7 cases (5.3％).The total effective rate was 94.7％.The total effective rate was 100.0％ in type Ⅰ,97.4％ in type Ⅱ and 84.8％ in type Ⅲ.The total effective rate was higher in type Ⅰ and Ⅱ than in type Ⅲ (x2=3.506 and 6.218,P=0.035 and 0.012).Local complications occurred in 10 cases (7.6％),including 1 case with nasolacrimal duct injury,2 cases with orbital hematoma,5 cases with nasal adhesion,1 case with surgical cavity hemorrhage and 1 case with sinus atresia.Conclusions The therapeutic effects of nasal endoscopesurgery on chronic sinusitis and nasalpolyps are good in geriatric patients,especially in treating chronic sinusitis and nasalpolyps of type Ⅰ and Ⅱ,and the postoperative complications are less,which is worth clinical application.

Objective To analyze the district differences of height among Chinese Han population aged 7 to 18 years,and to divide the levels of heights into several regions accordingly,to provide basis for evaluation the development of height in the above said population.Methods Standard Deviation was used to compare the relative lavels of height in different provinces and to divide them into several regions.The results were then showed in map through the Geographic Information System (GIS).Results All the 30 provinces in China were divided into three regions:high,medium and short regions according to the stature.Region with high stature was mainly located in northern,while medium stature was in central and northwest parts and short stature was in southwest parts of China.The differences of height appeared to be significant among regions in every age group.The differences of height were 1-3 cm between adjacent regions,and were even lager between the regions with high or short stature which appeared to be 4-5 cm.Conclusion Overall,heights among the Chinese Han children and adolescents were taller in the northern and shorter in the southern areas.The highest and lowest levels of heights were in the Northern and the Southwest areas respectively.It was observed that the levels of height in the coastal areas were higher than that of the inland.There were no absolute boundaries between different regions because of the gradual transition in the levels of heights in various districts.

Objective To develop the reference on height among children and adolescents aged 7 to 18 years of Chinese Han ethnicity in different administrative districts of China and to use this height reference for screening stunting.Results from the national screening program were compared with the WHO references.Methods Data from the Chinese National Survey on Students Constitution and Health in 2005 was used to develop the height references through LMS method.Results Differences among the references on height for children and adolescents in different districts ( Ⅰ - Ⅳ ) were remarkable.The highest was seen in the Second Districts while the lowest was seen in the First Districts among those at the age of 18,with differences as 3.18 cm for boys and 2.92 cm for girls.The heights from the inland were shorter than that of the WHO references,with the differences ranging from 0.31 cm to 5.07 cm for boys,and from 0.98 cm to 4.22 cm for girls.The prevalence rates of stunting were 2.22％,2.29％,5.25％,respectively according to local references,national references and the WHO references.Conclusion Universal height references from the whole nation could not discriminate the variations caused by geographic conditions and hereditory factors related to socio-economie situations.Height references should be developed locally,to evaluate height levels of the areas.

OBJECTIVETo study the correlation between the expansion with different volume and the contents of the b-FGF and EGF in the expanded skin.

METHODSThe piglets were used in the experiment,which were divided into 7 groups including the sham, the blank control,the experimental groups with inflation of 1/2 volume, 3/4 volume, full volume, 150% volume and 200% volume. When expansion was complete, b-FGF was measured using enzyme coagulate method. EGF was measured by radioimmunoassay. The data were analyzed statistically.

RESULTSThe contents of b-FGF and EGF in the expanded skin was significantly higher than normal skin (P < 0.05). The difference in contents of b-FGF and EGF between the over-expanded skin and normal skin was more significant (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONExpansion can lead to the increase of b-FGF and EGF contents in the expanded skin.The biological effects may be relative to epidermal hyperplasia and angiogenesis of the expanded skin.

This study was carried out to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenging activities of flavans from flex centrochinensis S. Y. Hu in vitro and their structure-activity relationship. LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophage was used as inflammatory model. MTT assay for cell availability, Griess reaction for nitric oxide (NO) production, the content of TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, IL-6 and PGE, were detected with ELISA kits; DPPH, superoxide anion and hydroxyl free radicals scavenging activities were also investigated. According to the result, all flavans tested exhibited anti-inflammatory effect in different levels. Among them, compounds 1, 3, 4 and 6 showed potent anti-inflammatory effect through the inhibition of NO, TNF-alpha, IL-lp and IL-6, of which 1 was the most effective inhibitor, however, 2 and 5 were relatively weak or inactive. The order of free radical scavenging activities was similar to that of anti-inflammatory activities. Therefore, these results suggest that 3, 4 and 6, especially of 1, were,in part responsible for the anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenging activity of Ilex centrochinensis. Hydroxyl group at 4'-position of B-ring plays an important role in the anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenging capacities.

Objective To explore the mediating effect of attentional control between negative automatic thoughts and social anxiety.methods A total of 1 504 college freshmen of medical university were surveyed with the Interaction Anxiety Scale (IAS),the Automatic Thoughts questionnaire (ATQ) and the Attentional Control Scale (ACS).Result sThe scores of IAS,ACS and ATQ of medical freshmen were (39.36±8.15),(53.50±7.48) and (48.93±19.72) respectively.Correlation analysis showed that ATQ total score was significantly positively correlated with IAS total score(r=0.313,P<0.01),ATQ total score was significantly negatively correlated with ACS total score(r=-0.275,P<0.01),and ACS score was significantly negatively correlated with IAS total score(r=-0.455,P<0.01).Mediating effect analysis showed that attentional control partly-mediated the relationship between negative automatic thoughts and social anxiety among medical freshmen (x2/df=1.650,GFI=0.998,AGFI=0.993,RMSEA=0.021),and accounted for 50.8% of the mediating effect.Conclusion Negative automatic thoughts is an important factor which plays direct and indirect roles in social anxiety.Attentional control is the intermediate link between negative automatic thoughts and social anxiety.

Objective Laryngeal and upper esophageal foreign bodies are common diseases, we explored a new and simple method to remove these foreign bodies. Methods The clinical data of 177 patients with laryngeal and upper esophageal foreign bodies from June 2008 to January 2016 were analyzed retrospectively. We used two methods to treat these foreign bodies:130 foreign bodies were directly removed under video endoscopy;47 foreign bodies were removed with suspension laryngoscopy, and video endoscopy was used meanwhile. Result 177 laryngeal and upper esophageal foreign bodies were removed well, without severe complications like esophageal perforation or phyryngeal fistula. Conclusion Removing esophageal and laryngeal foreign bodies with video endoscopy is simple, safe and effective.

Objective To explore the effect of surgical treatment on primary gastrointestinal non-Hodgking lymphoma(NHL) in children.Methods Nine cases of clinical and follow-up data of primary gastrointestinal NHL were studied retrospectively to evaluate the effect of surgical treatment on primary gastrointestinal NHL in children.Results Seven cases were male and 2 cases were female.The mean age was(5.59?3.27)years old.The clinical manifestation included abdominal mass (7 cases),abdominal pain (5 cases),fever (2 cases),haematemesis and melena (2 cases),constipation (1 case) and paroxysmal abdominal pain with vomiting (1 case).Nine cases were diagnosed as primary gastrointestinal NHL,including 1 case of intussusception,1 case of acute appendicitis,2 cases of gastrointestinal obstruction,2 cases of gastrointestinal bleeding and 3 cases of abdominal mass.One case received the operation of intussusception reduction,tumor resection and intestinal anastomosis.One case received appendectomy.One case received the operation of tumor biopsy and transverse colon colostomy.Six cases received laparotomy.Six cases were diagnosed as Burkitt lymphoma.One case was anaplastic large cell lymphoma and 2 cases were diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.One case was at stage Ⅰ,1 case was at stage ⅠE,2 cases were at stage Ⅱ,3 cases were at stage ⅡE and 2 cases were at stage Ⅲ.Nine patients had received operation.One case died after operation and 8 cases had received combined chemotherapy.The 1 and 3 years survival rates were 75.0% and 37.5%,respectively.Conclusions Acute abdomen is often the first symptom of primary gastrointestinal NHL in children and comprehensive surgical treatment is an effective procedure for it.

Objective To investigate the effect of Yupingfeng particles joint desloratadine in treatment of allergic rhinitis. Methods From January 2010 to January 2013 in our hospital, 100 patients with allergic rhinitis according to the methods were randomly divided into study group and control group, 50 patients in the control group was given lo-ratadine tablets each an oral, once a day, once every 14 days. treatment group combined Yupingfeng particles,each bag, blunt, 3 times a day, once every 14 days. Total efficiency and sneezing, nasal congestion , runny nose, itchy nose symp-toms relief time, the recurrence rate after one month, two months of two groups were compared. Results The total effec-tive rate of the study group was 96.0% ,was significantly higher than the symptoms (P <0.05), and sneezing, nasal con-gestion, runny nose and nasal itching of study group were relieved more significantly than the control group (P <0.05). Study patients were followed up 1 month recurrence rate after two months and were significantly lower than the control group (6.7% vs 27.5%, 15.6% vs 37.5%, P <0.05). Conclusion Yupingfeng particles jointly loratadine integrative cura-tive in treatment of allergic rhinitis can significantly improve clinical symptoms, and no significant adverse reactions, should be popularized and applied.
