4.Causes and treatments of non-union and delayed union of fractures
Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2004;0(05):-
Objective To investigate the causes of non-union and delayed union of fractures and to report the surgical techniques and outcomes of the treatments. Methods 107 cases of non-union, 54 cases of delayed union and 2 cases of congenital non-union of tibia were treated between July 1990 and December 2004 in our hospital. The treatments were evaluated retrospectively to analyze the causes of the disorder and the treatment outcomes at the follow-up. 18 cases of delayed union were treated conservatively while the other 145 cases in this series underwent surgery. Results Except in the 2 cases of congenital non-union of tibia, iatrogenic factors were found to be responsible for nonunion or delayed union in all the other 161 cases. 153 cases were followed up for an average of 17 (6 to 28) months only to reveal bone union in all the cases with a mean healing time of 10 (6 to 14) months. All the limbs regained good function. Conclusion Since development of non-union and delayed union of fractures chiefly result from iatrogenic technical defects, satisfactory results can be achieved as long as appropriate treatments are performed according to different etiological factors.
5.Antitumor Activity in Vitro and Antioxidation in Vivo on Tumor-bearing Mice of Glycosaminoglycan from Scallop Shirt
China Pharmacy 2005;0(19):-
OBJECTIVE:To study the antitumor activity and antioxidative action of glycosaminoglycan from scallop skirt(SS-GAG).METHODS:The effects of different concentration of SS-GAG on the proliferation of four tumor cell lines(HeLa,LOVO,A549,and U251)which had been cultured in vitro were observed by MTT.The effect of SS-GAG on mice within 30 d after innoculation of sarcoma 180 was observed.Multi-kind of biochemistry methods including xanthine oxidase method and thiobarbituric acid colorimetric method were used to study the effect of SS-GAG on total antioxidation activity, activity of SOD,and level of MDA in tumor-bearing mice, which were compared with those in control group.RESULTS:As compared with control group,SS-GAG significantly inhibited the growth of HeLa and U251 cell lines, inhibited the growth of LOVO and A549 cell lines to some degree, significantly prolonged the survival time of the mice with S180 ascites tumor, enhanced the total antioxidant activity and the SOD activity and decreased MDA content in serum(P
6.Prognostic value of NT-proBNP in patients with non ST elevation myocardial infarction
Chinese Journal of cardiovascular Rehabilitation Medicine 2014;23(4):398-400
Objective:To explore the prognostic value of N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP)as-sessing prognosis in patients with non ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).Methods:Clinical and follow-up data of 96 NSTEMI inpatients from our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.According to their outcomes, they were divided into no event group [n=46,no major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE)occurred]and event group (n=50,MACE occurred).Levels of NT-proBNP,total cholesterol (TC)and low density lipoprotein choles-terol (LDL-C),left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDd),mitral early/late diastolic peak flow velocity (E/A)and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)were measured and compared between two groups.Single-factor linear analysis and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze relative factors of MACE incidence rate,ROC curve was used to analyze the best predictive value of NT-proBNP.Results:Compared with no event group, there were significant rise in NT-proBNP level [(3157.5±102.4)pmol/L vs.(4309.6±214.6)pmol/L]and LVEDd [(58.1±5.5)mm vs.(74.3±6.8)mm];and significant reduction in LVEF [(71.8±4.1)% vs.(49.5 ±3.9)%]and E/A [(0.84±0.18)vs.(0.62±0.12)]in event group (P <0.05 all). There were no significant difference in TC and LDL-C levels between two groups (P >0.05 both).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis in-dicated that NT-proBNP was an independent predictor for MACE (OR=1.003,P =0.009).Survival rate of those with plasma NT-proBNP≤4390 pmol/L was significantly higher than those with NT-proBNP >4390 pmol/L (OR=5.028,P =0.021).Conclusion:Plasma N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide can independently predict progno-sis of patients with non ST elevation myocardial infarction.
