The secondary structure of the protein of DM0 and DMT in Oreochromis aureus were predicted by the methods of Garnier-Robson, Chou-Fasman and Karplus-Schulz based on the amimo acid sequences of DM0 and DMT. And Hydrophilicity plot, Surface probability and Antigenic index for DM0 and DMT protein were obtained by the methods of Kyte-Doolittle, Emini and Jameson-Wolf, respectively. Combined the results according to these methods, the B cell epitopes for DM0 and DMT protein were predicted. The results demonstrated that there were some centers of?-helix in the DM0 protein' s N- terminal No. 80 - 112, 144 -147, 193- 194, 251 - 255, 260 - 269 and No. 279- 283, and in the DMT protein' s N-terminal No. 61 -86, 98 - 105, 140 - 146, 239 -241 and No. 269 -273. And there are some centers of?-sheet in the DM0 protein' s N-terminal No. 59 -61, 69 -70, 148 - 150 and No. 383 -390, and in the DMT protein's N-terminal No. 125 -129, 207-213, 255-264 and No. 281-284. Furthermore, the DMO protein' s N-terminal No. 40-41,44 -45, 50-51, 128-129, 189-192, 204-207, 216-222, 226-233, 244-246, 298 - 299 and No. 323 -326, and the DMT protein' s N-termianl No. 12 - 13, 26 - 27, 43 - 44, 58 - 60, 93 - 95, 115 - 120, 136 -139 and No. 149 -151 may be the flexible regions. Moreover the B-cell epitopes possibly localized in or nearby the DMO protein's 1 -5, 41 -51, 65-67, 86-89, 98-110, 154-170, 183-203, 205 -248, 258-264, 284 - 291, 293 - 298, 270 - 375, 389 - 392 and No. 402 - 410, and DMT protein' s N-termianl No. 1 - 9, 17 - 28, 77 - 84, 114 - 123 , 131 - 139, 157 - 184 and No. 96 - 207. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death. Safflower attracts great attention owing to its anti-ischemia/reperfusion injury effect. Ninety-three patients with CAD were included and randomized into safflower treatment group, PCI group and control group. Low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE) was performed to measure end-systolic volume (ESV), end-diastolic volume (EDV), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and wall motion score index (WMSI) to determine the recovery of hibernating myocardium and cardiac function in all patients before treatment and after 3-month follow-up. The study was to investigate the effects of safflower on hibernating myocardial revascularization and cardiac function. It was found that LVEF was significantly improved, while the ESV and WMSI were significantly reduced after 2-week treatment in safflower and PCI treatment groups. No significant differences were found between safflower and PCI treatment groups in ESV, EDV, WMSI and LVEF after treatment Safflower injection effectively improved hibernating myocardial function.

OBJECTIVETo study the genes differentially expressed in the liver of Kkay diabetic and normal mice by genomic-scale gene expression analysis.
METHODScDNA microarray chips containing 8,192 cDNAs were used to explore the gene expression pattern of Kkay mouse liver.
RESULTSOne hundred and fifty-four genes were screened out, including 68 complete cDNAs and expressed sequence tags, and among them 40 genes were up-regulated and 114 genes were down-regulated respectively.
CONCLUSIONMost of the gene expression analysis results were consistent with previous study, and the gene expression pattern of Kkay mouse based on cDNA microarray could be used for high-throughout screening out the genes associated with type 2 diabetes.

Chinese Journal of Experimental and Clinical Virology 2006;20(2):53-55
BACKGROUNDTo study the clinical features and more reasonable typing criteria for patients with chronic severe hepatitis and decompensated liver function.
METHODSData of 106 cases of decompensated cirrhosis, 124 cases of chronic liver failure and 100 cases of chronic liver failure (chronic liver failure group I, CLF I) with decompensated cirrhosis (chronic liver failure group II, CLF II) were analyzed retrospectively.
RESULTS(1) The ages were youngest in chronic liver failure group I (about 30 years), and the oldest in decompensated cirrhosis group (about 50 years). (2) There were significant differences in albumin, globulin, ALT, AST, protruding activity, blood glucose, blood lipid and cholinesterase among the three groups. (3) There was no significant difference in upper digestive tract bleeding and hepatorenal syndrome, on the other hand, there was significant difference in ascites and hepatic encephalopathy. (4) The prognosis of the patients in decompensated cirrhosis group was better than that of chronic liver failure group I and chronic liver failure group II.
CONCLUSIONThe clinical feature and prognosis in three groups were different, so, it is suggested that chronic severe liver disease be divided into 2 types: one is chronic severe liver disease type I, which is associated with chronic hepatitis, and the other is chronic severe liver disease type II, which is associated with cirrhosis, and the typing criteria for decompensated cirrhosis remains unchanged.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Yishen Jianpi Yangxue Tongli Therapy (YJYTT) in treating polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and to explore the therapeutic mechanism of YJYTT.
METHODSOne hundred and seven PCOS patients with syndrome differentiation of TCM as Pi-Shen Yang deficiency were randomly divided into two groups, the treated group (n = 76) was treated with Chinese herbal medicine, while the control group (n = 31) was treated by clomiphen. The therapeutic effect in both groups and the change of body mass index (BMI), Ferriman-Gallway (F-G) score, serum sex hormones and serum oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) before and after treatment were observed.
RESULTSThe comparison of total effective rate between two groups was insignificantly different, but the pregnancy rate of the treated group (65.7%) was markedly higher than that of control group (25.0%, P < 0.01). Also, significant difference was shown in the aspect of BMI, F-G score, serum testosterone (T), luteinizing hormone (LH) and OGTT, etc. between the two groups (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe YJYTT could markedly improve the clinical symptoms and pregnancy rate of PCOS patients, particularly showing good effect to the clomiphen resistant patients. The mechanism possibly was due to its regulation on hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarium axis and reducing the insulin resistance.

Chinese Journal of Medical Ultrasound (Electronic Edition) 2008;5(2):283-287
Objective To investigate the effects of different standard cross sections and angles on the measurement accuracy of induced postnatal fetal long bones. Methods Fetal long bones (femori and humeri) in 30 cases with induced abortion were measured utilizing ultrasound from different angles and /or at different directions. The values measured from different sections and angles with vernier calipers were compared prenatally and postnatally. Results There was no apparent difference between the pre-induced abortion and those of the post-induced abortion. The results in the 30 cases showed that: (1) the values measured from anterior 90 degree, the long bone length would best match with the bare long bone length up to 96.7%, the match rate of other angles and/or directions was up to 80%; (2) no apparent statistical difference was between the length of left and right bone and no difference was found using 4 different directions and 3 different angles; (3)there was no difference between the left and right femuri and humeri. Conclusions Though the measured value from anterior 90 degree direction was the most accurate one, the statistical analtical results showed no difference among 12 values measured from 3 different angles and/or 4 different directions.

Objective To study the risk factors of hyperthyroid heart diseases(HHD) by analyzing clinical features of patients in order to provide a scientific basis for prevention and treatment of HHD. Methods Nine hundred and eighty two cases were selected as objective from in-patient data of Thyroid Disease Treatment Centre of Shandong Province. The cases were divided into hyperthyroidism group and HHD group. The variables of etiology, sex, age, duration of disease, TSH, FT3, FT4 and TRAb were analyzed by comparative analysis. The risk factors were analyzed by logistic regression. Results The prevalence of hyperthyroidism complicated hyperthyroid heart disease was 7.7%(76/982), age, duration of diseases, FT3, TRAb in the HHD group were [(51.4 ± 11.5), (6.3 ±2.1) years, 21.6 pmol/L, 71.6 U/L], in hyperthyroidism group were [(37.9 ± 9.8), (2.6 ± 1.3) years, 14.9pmol/L, 49.6 U/L]. The differences were statistically significant(u = 9.93,15.23, T = 44954,48792.5, P < 0.05)between the two groups. The factors of the older, higher FT3 and TRAb, longer duration, Graves disease (OR =1.751,1.470,1.483,1.445,1.234) increased the risk of HHD. Conclusions Graves disease, longer duration, old age, higher FT3 and TRAb are the risk factors of HHD. Timely prevention and control of risk factors is necessary to reduce the incidence of HHD.
