BACKGROUND:Coculture of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s and human umbilical vein endothelial cel s can improve both osteogenic and angiogenic outcomes and provide a promising strategy for bone tissue engineering and osteanagenesis.
OBJECTIVE:To summarize recent researches and related progresses in coculture of human umbilical vein endothelial cel s and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s.
METHODS:A computer-based online search of CNKI database from January 2000 to March 2012, PubMed database and Web of Knowledge database from January 1980 to March 2012, was performed with the keywords of“human umbilical vein endothelial cel s, bone mesenchymal stem cel s, coculture, tissue engineering”both in Chinese and English. A total of 135 articles were screened out, 103 of them were excluded due to unrelated study objective and repeated contents, and final y 32 articles were involved in further analysis.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:At present, studies on coculture of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s and human umbilical vein endothelial cel s mainly focus on mimicking in vivo environments, the interactions between cel s, and the influence of different cel ratios and culture media. Most of these researches play important roles in bone tissue engineering and bone regeneration therapy, but the mechanism of action and concrete regulation in
vivo between bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s and human umbilical vein endothelial cel s stil need further research and analysis.

Pine pollen is a kind of Chinese materia medica with the homology of medicine and food, rich in a variety of nutrients and bioactive ingredients. It has the efficacy of hemostasis by convergence and eliminating dampness and astringing sores. Research showed that pine pollen is able to protect certain organs, regulate metabolism, enhance immunity and resist antioxidation and aging. This article reviewed pine pollen related research from the aspects of main components, pharmacological effects and clinical application, in order to provide references for further study and development and utilization.

Objective To observe the effect of mesenchymal stem cells ( MSC) in treating ischemic diabetic ulcers, and to explore its clinical perspectives. Methods Prepared electro-spinning biomaterials and cultured MSC to study effect of MSC composite biomaterials in vitro by scanning electron microscope,MTT array and influence of MSC conditioned medium on endothelial cells. The use of 5 to 8 week old male C57BL/6J mice were prepared into diabetic mice, femoral artery ligation in the proximal thigh,in dorsal skin full-thickness wounds caused by the diameter 5 mm. Then the effect of MSC composite biomaterials on ischemic diabetic ulcers was determined. Results This study found that the MSC grow well on electro-spinning biomaterials. Cells foot extension and connections between cells were observed by scanning electron microscope. Stimulated by high glucose, growth and proliferation of MSC has a stronger ability on biomaterials. MSC condi-tioned medium on biomaterials increased human umbilical vein endothelial cells proliferation ability. Conclusion MSC composite biomateri-als can effectively improve the treatment effect of MSC on ischemic diabetic ulcers. The study indicated stem cells composite biomaterials have great potential and application prospect in the treatment of ischemic diabetic ulcers healing.

Basic & Clinical Medicine 2006;0(11):-
Objective To investigate the protective effects of aspirin on hypoxic brain neural cells of rat and the effects of extracellular calcium on the neuroprotective effect of aspirin. Methods The hypoxic cell model was established by adding Na2S2O4 to the calcium or calcium free medium. Cultured primary cortical neurons of rat were pretreated with ASA in vitro. The change of intracellular free calcium and neuroglobin (NGB) were observed and analyzed by laser scanning confocal microscope. Results The expression level of [Ca2+]i and NGB increased significantly in the chemical hypoxia group(P

Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) is a brand-new tumor vascular pattern with the ability to form vessellike networks without participation of endothelial cells and independent on angiogenesis. It can provide adequate blood supply for tumor growth. The formation of VM involves multiple molecule mechanisms and signal pathways, including cancer stem cell and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. As a unique blood-supply pattern,VM is associated with cancer invasion, metastasis and poor prognosis.Because of its important role in cancer progression,VM will become a new target for therapy of cancers.

Objective To investigate the protective effects of aspirin on hypoxic brain neural cells of rat and the effects of extracellular calcium on the neuroprotective effect of aspirin. Methods The hypoxic cell model was established by adding Na_2S_2O_4 to the calcium or calcium free medium. Cultured primary cortical neurons of rat were pretreated with ASA in vitro. The change of intracellular free calcium and neuroglobin (NGB) were observed and analyzed by laser scanning confocal microscope. Results The expression level of [Ca~(2+)] i and NGB increased significantly in the chemical hypoxia group ( P < 0. 05 ). ASA can attenuate the increase of [ Ca~(2+) ] i and NGB in the hypoxic group and calcium-free hypoxia group(P <0. 05). Conclusion Aspirin can inhibit calcium overload and the hypoxia-induced expression of NGB, so protect rat brain cells against hypoxia.
