BACKGROUND: The blood levels of specific markers of platelet activation, such as platelet granule membrane protein (GMP-140) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) are very low in healthy individuals, while the plasma levels of them in patients with cerebral infarction increase. Is the protection of brain hydrolysate injection correlated with the phenomenon?OBJECTIVE: In this study, the plasma levels of GMP-140 and TNF-α in patients with acute stroke were measured, the brain protection of brain protein hydrolysate injection on patients with ischemic stroke were investigated, and were compared with the therapeutic effect of compound danshen injection.DESIGN: It was designed for case study.SETTING: This study was conducted at the Medical Department of the General Hospital of Pingdingshan Coal Co. Ltd and the Neurology Department of the Second Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University.PARTICIPANTS: From January 2001 to October 2003, 144 inpatients with hypertension and acute stroke in the Medicine Department of the General Hospital of Pingdingshan Coal Co. Ltd were selected and divided into 2 groups, as experiment group containing 72 cases, 47 males and 25females, with an age from 42 to 90 and in average of (69±11) years old and control group containing 72 cases, 49 males and 23 females, with an age from 37 to 85 and in average of (68±10) years old.METHODS: All the patients in these two groups underwent oxygen inhalation therapy, antihypeetensive therapy, dehydration therapy and anticoagulation therapy. Patients in control group were coadministered 500 mL compound salvia miltiorrhiza injection QD once a day, with a 14-day course of therapy. Patients in experiment group were treated with 500 mL compound salvia miltiorrhiza injection QD and 20 mL protein hydrolysate European stroke scale (ESS), from 0 (worst possible health status) to 100(best possible health status), were used to evaluate the recovery status of (from 24 hours to 72 hours) and 3 weeks post-treatment, 5 mL blood samples were obtained from antecubital veins, then plasma levels of GMP-140and TNF-α were quantified using an RIA (radioimmunoassay) and the changes in neural function before and after brain protein hydrolysate injection were evaluated.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Before treatment and at 3 weeks postwere quantified using an RIA.RESULTS: All the 144 patients entered the statistical analysis procedure.ESS were significantly higher than the pre-treatment scores [Experiment groups: 79.95±18.64 and 59.65±19.87; Control group: (74.66±15.88) and (61.25±18.68), (t=2.678-4.351, P < 0.01). The post-treatment scores of ESS in experiment group were higher than those in control group (t=2.016-2.158,groups, the post-treatment outcomes were significantly lower than the pre-treatment outcomes [Experiment group: (22.12±9.52) μg/L and (50.41±22.35) μg/L, (1.05±0.24) μg/L and (1.62±0.50) μg/L; Control group: (26.66±8.22) μg/L and (48.63±21.54) μg/L, (1.35±0.44) μg/L and (1.66±0.48) μg/L; (t=2.678-4.351, P < 0.001)]. And the post-treatment levels of the two markers were lower in experiment group than those in control group (t=2.016-2.158, P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Brain protein hydrolysate injection can significantly decrease the plasma levels of GMP-140 and TNF-α in patients with acute stroke, and it is capable of increasing the ESS scores and improving the impaired neural functions greatly.

It is an urgent need for the development of medical and health undertakings in the new era to build a high-quality university education system and cultivate high-quality personnel for laboratory medicine. In the process of building a national first-class specialty, the medical laboratory technology specialty of Southern Medical University adheres to the concept of high-quality university education and improves the training level of laboratory medicine personnel through the teaching reform practice of constructing the whole-process moral education system, systematical training mode, internationalized teaching team, and intelligent teaching technology. In this paper, we analyzed the connotation and construction experience of a high-quality university education system of laboratory medicine, in order to increase the exchange and communication between different colleges and universities, and make contributions to the national strategic goal of building a powerful country in education before 2035.

In order to develop agents with superior chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic properties against hepatocellular carcinomas, mitochondria-targeted hydroxycinnamic acids (MitoHCAs) were synthesized by conjugation with a triphenylphosphonium cation. These synthetic compounds were evaluated for their antioxidant activities in hepatic mitochondria, including against OHand ROOinduced lipid peroxidation. HOproduction was decreased significantly by increasing glutathione peroxidase and catalase activities. In addition, cell proliferation data from three cell lines (HepG2, L02 and WI38) indicated that the MitoHCAs were selective for cancer cells. Interestingly, the MitoHCAs both with or without Catriggered mitochondrial dysfunction by inducing mitochondrial swelling, collapsing the mitochondrial membrane potential and causing cytochromerelease. In particular, an inhibitor of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP), cyclosporin A, attenuated mitochondrial damage and cell apoptosis, indicating that mPTP may be involved in the antiproliferative activity of MitoHCAs. Further studies focused on structural optimization of these compounds are onging.

Objective:
The incidence and mortality of gallbladder cancer from Chinese cancer registries in 2014 were analyzed to describe the prevalence of gallbladder cancer in China.
Methods:
Incidence and mortality data of gallbladder cancer in 2014 derived from registration data in 2017, collected by the National Central Cancer Registry (NCCR). Qualified data from 339 cancer registries were calculated after evaluating. According to the national population data of 2014, the gallbladder cancer incidence and mortality of China in 2014 were stratified by the area, gender and age.The age composition of standard population of Chinese census in 2000 and Segi′s population were used for age-standardizes incidence and mortality in China and worldwide.
Results:
339 cancer registries cover a total of 288 243 347 population including 146 203 891 males and 142 039 456 females (144 061 915 in urban and 144 181 432 in rural areas). The mortality to incidence ratio of gallbladder cancer was 0.74. The morphologically verified cases (MV%) and death certificate-only cases (DCO%) were 48.38% and 2.66%, respectively. Unclear diagnosis cases (UB%) was 0.48%. The crude incidence of gallbladder cancer in China in 2014 was 3.82/100 000, which accounted for 1.37% of new cancer cases (4.48/100 000 in urban areas and 3.01/100 000 in rural areas, 3.59/100 000 for male and 4.05/100 000 for female). Age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population (ASR China) and world standard population (ASR world) were 2.38/100 000 and 2.37/100 000, respectively, and the cumulative incidence rate (0-74 age years old) was 0.27%.Besides, the crude mortality of gallbladder cancer was 2.86/100 000 (3.47/100 000 in urban areas and 2.12/100 000 in rural areas, 2.59/100 000 for male and 3.14/100 000 for female). Age-standardized mortality rates by ASR China and ASR world were 1.72/100 000 and 1.71/100 000, with a cumulative mortality rate (0-74 age years old) of 0.19%.
Conclusion
The incidence and mortality of gallbladder cancer were significantly different between the city and country, while not obviously different between the female and male.
