We detect the effect of soil drought stress on part physiological activities of Masson pine of different family. The dark respiration rate of Masson pine will decrease with different range of the decrease of leaf water potential. The photosynthesis rate will increase with the descendant leaf potential and soil potential, which demonstrates that Masson pine has much higher productivity of drought stress.Meanwhile, the relative plasma membrane permeability plasma will be enlarged and the membrane will be hurt more deeply when Masson pine meets with higher drought stress. The relationship between relative plasma membrane permeability and leaf potential shows significant linear correlation.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the distribution and significance of occludin mRNA expression in human gastric cancer, as well as its relationship with gastric cancer pathology and multidrug resistance (MDR) in vivo.
METHODSIn situ hybridization (ISH) technique was used to evaluate the expression of occludin mRNA in 42 gastric carcinoma specimens obtained by surgery and 23 relatively normal gastric mucosa obtained by gastric endoscopy. All specimens had been stored in cryostatic section.
RESULTSOccludin mRNA was found positive in the cytoplasm of gastric glandulous epithelia as blue particles with intensive stain in 14 of 42 gastric carcinomas (33.3%), 23 of 42 paracancerous gastric tissues (54.8%), 14 of 23 relatively normal gastric tissues (60.9%), 9 of 16 well differentiated carcinomas (56.3%), 4 of 14 moderately differentiated carcinomas (28.6%), 1 of 10 poorly differentiated carcinomas (10.0%) and none of 2 mucosal carcinomas. There were significant differences in occludin mRNA positive rate between relatively normal gastric tissue and gastric cancer as well as between paracancerous gastric tissue and gastric cancer. The expression of occludin mRNA in moderately and poorly differentiated groups was gradually reduced when compared with well differentiated group, which suggests that there be a significant correlation between tumor differentiation and the expression of occludin mRNA. Furthermore, the positive signals of occludin mRNA distributed extensively in the cytoplasm of SGC7901/VCR cell, being vincristine resistant, derived from parental gastric cell line SGC7901. The positive signals of SGC7901/VCR were stronger than those of SGC7901 cells.
CONCLUSIONOccludin mRNA, being mainly located in epithelial cells and its expression correlated with tumor differentiation, may be involved in the development of multi-drug resistance in gastric cancer.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of astragaloside IV (As IV) on the activation of rennin-angiotensin system in rats with pressure-overload induced cardiac hypertrophy.
METHODLeft ventricle hypertrophy was induced by abdominal aorta banding between bilateral renal aortas for 12 weeks. Rats were given astragaloside IV 1.0 mg x kg(-1) and 3.3 mg x kg(-1) for 12 weeks, respectively. After treatment, the left ventricular mass index (LVMI)was calculated by morphometry methods. Plasma and cardiac tissue angiotensin II, and plasma aldosterone were measured by ELISA method. Gene expressions of ACE, AT1 and AT2 in cardiac tissue were detected by real time PCR. Protein expressions of AT1 and AT2 in cardiac tissue were detected by Western blot.
RESULTCompared with model rats, LVMI was decreased by astragaloside IV treatment. Biochemical results indicated that the contents of angiotensin II in plasma and cardiac tissue as well as aldosterone in plasma were all increased in abdominal aorta banding rats comparing with sham-operated rats, then, decreased by astragaloside IV treatment. Gene expressions of cardiac ACE was downregulated by astragaloside IV, however, gene and protein expressions of cardiac AT2 were upregulated by astragaloside IV. Both elevated gene and protein expressions of AT1 were not attenuated by astragaloside IV.
CONCLUSIONExcessive activated rennin-angiotensin system in rats with pressure-overload induced cardiac hypertrophy is inhibited by astragaloside IV treatment.

Objective:To investigate the distribution patterns of TCM syndrome elements and syndrome types in cancer-related fatigue (CRF).Methods:A cross-sectional survey was conducted on tumor patients attending the outpatient clinic and wards of the Department of Oncology, Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from January to December 2021. Descriptive analysis was used to compare the distribution difference of TCM syndrome elements, symptoms and tongue symptoms of CRF and non-CRF patients. The TCM symptoms of CRF were clustered to summarize the common TCM syndromes of CRF.Results:A total of 306 tumor patients were finally included, of which 229 (75%) were CRF and 77 (25%) were non-CRF. Qi deficiency, blood deficiency, and cold-dampness were the most common deficiency and excess syndrome elements in CRF, and liver deficiency, yin deficiency, and blood stasis syndrome elements occurred more frequently in non-CRF than in CRF. TCM symptoms with a frequency greater than 50% in CRF patients, from high to low, were: fatigue > shortness of breath > insomnia or dreaminess > mental fatigue > forgetfulness>lazy speech > impatience, irritability, depression with sighing. The most frequent tongue symptoms, tongue coating, and pulse symptoms were respectively pale tongue, white and greasy coating or smooth white, and pulse deficiency. The symptoms with greater than 30% frequency in 77 non-CRF patients were, from highest to lowest: impatience and irritability or depression with sighing > insomnia or dreaminess > shortness of breath > dry mouth and throat > lumbar spine pain (excluding traumatic) > numbness of limbs > forgetfulness. The highest-ranked tongue, tongue coating, and pulse symptoms were pale tongue, red tongue or less coating, no coating, and thin pulse, respectively. Through clustering analysis, six common syndromes of CRF were obtained, including qi and blood deficiency syndrome, heart and liver blood deficiency syndrome, kidney yang deficiency syndrome, qi and yin deficiency syndrome, spleen deficiency and qi stagnation syndrome, and cold dampness and spleen stagnation syndrome. Conclusions:CRF is a common symptom of different types of tumors. Generally, deficiency syndrome is the main symptom. Qi deficiency and blood deficiency are the common syndrome elements. Common symptoms of high frequency and tongue and pulse are fatigue, shortness of breath, mental fatigue, forgetfulness, pale tongue and thin pulse. The common TCM syndrome types can be preliminarily summarized into 6 types: qi and blood deficiency syndrome, heart and liver blood deficiency syndrome, kidney yang deficiency syndrome, qi and yin deficiency syndrome, spleen deficiency and qi stagnation syndrome, cold dampness and spleen stagnation syndrome.

Objective To objectively classify cancer-related fatigue(CRF)patients with qi and blood deficiency syndrome; To explore possible enrichment characteristics; To provide ideas for precise population identification. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted,611 CRF patients with qi and blood deficiency syndrome were included from October 2019 to April 2022.Clinical symptoms of patient were documented, including pale or withered-yellow complexion, shortness of breath with reluctance to talk, dizziness, spontaneous sweating, and palpitations.Additionally, blood routine were conducted, including white blood cell(WBC)count, red blood cell(RBC)count, hemoglobin(HGB),platelet(PLT)count, and neutrophil count(NEUT).The degree of fatigue was assessed using the Piper Fatigue Scale(PFS).Data analysis was performed using R 4.2.0.Clustering analysis was performed using the K-mediods method. Results Through unsupervised clustering analysis, the target population was divided into three categories:qi and blood deficiency syndrome leaning towards qi deficiency,qi and blood deficiency syndrome with mild symptom,qi and blood deficiency syndrome leaning towards blood deficiency. In terms of fatigue severity, the first two groups showed comparable levels, while the third group exhibited the most severe fatigue.Regarding objective indicators, the group leaning towards qi deficiency had the lowest WBC count,NEUT count and PLT count, and the group leaning towards blood deficiency had the lowest HGB count and RBC count. The group of qi and blood deficiency syndrome with mild symptom exhibited the highest level of objective indicators among the three. Conclusion By using clustering analysis methods, the study has preliminarily achieved population enrichment and classification based on syndromes, providing ideas for subsequent information enrichment and accurate identification of populations.Concurrently, the anemia index,WBC count and NEUT count demonstrate a inclination towards blood deficiency syndrome and qi deficiency syndrome, respectively. These findings indicate that these indicators could be incorporated into the syndrome diagnostic criteria for CRF to aid in the classification of the CRF population.
