Objective To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of intraoperative frozen section in breast neoplasms and to improve the diagnostic accuracy rate,to promote closer communication betwen clinicians and ~pathologists ,mutually increase an understanding of frozen sections, and thus decrease the rate of misdiagnosis. Methods The diagnostic reports of intraoperative frozen sections and paraffin sections of 590 cases with breast neoplasms taken in the recent 8 and a half years were analyzed retrospectively. Results 586 cases (~99.32 %) of intraoperative frozen sections were diagnosed correctly and 4(0.68%) were misdiagnosed. In the 4 misdiagnosed cases,2 cases of infiltrating ductal carcinoma were misdiagnosed as benign lesions,due to questionable quality of the slides,and 2 cases of lobular cystic sarcoma were misdiagnosed as fibroadeuoma,due to removal of insufficient specimen.Conclusions The chief causes of misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis of frozen sections are specimen limitations,varied morphology of the lesions,and quality of the frozen sections.When there is familiarity with the main aspects of diagnosis and differential diagnosis of breast pathology and enhancement of communication between the surgeon and pathologist,then frozen section of breast masses is an accurate and reliable method of investigation.

Unilateral thyroidectomy (lobeetomy) plus (or) isthmectomy were performed surgically and all patients recovered satisfactorily. No recurrence was found after a mean of 37 months follow-up(9 months-6 years).

Objective To explore the role of long-term enriched environment in promoting the recovery of motor and social function in mice after ischemic brain injury. Methods Sixteen adult male ICR mice underwent permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). The first day after operation, they were divided into enriched environment group (n=8) and standard condition group (n=8). The mice were tested with modified Neurological Severity Score (mNSS), rotarod test and smart cage 7, 14, 21, 28 days after modeling. Results The score of mNSS and the result of rotarod test improved more in the enriched environment group than in the standard condition group 28 days after MCAO (t>2.927, P<0.05). The occupancy time in the middle of smart cage was longer in the enriched environment group than in the stan-dard condition group 7 to 28 days after MCAO (t>2.480, P<0.05) in the general move test. There was a trend of being more interested in strange mice in the enriched environment group than in the standard condition group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05) in the social behavior test; however, the occupancy time in the middle of smart cage was longer in the enriched environment group than in the standard condition group 14 to 28 days after MCAO (t>3.472, P<0.01), and the velocity of moving was higher 14 days after MCAO (P<0.05). Conclusion Enriched environment could promote the recovery of motor function, somehow of social function, in mice af-ter ischemic brain injury.

0bjective To analyze the factors related tO the changes of liver pathology in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) negative chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients.Methods Two hundred and eighty-eight HBeAg negative CHB patients were enrolled.Bivariate Pearson correlation was employed to analyze the correlation of different age,gender,alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level,the immunohistochemistry results of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B core antigen (HBcAg) in liver tissue with hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA level,changes of liver pathology.Results The inflammation grades and fibrosis stages of livertissuesinmale were 1.72±1.23 and 1.71±1.24,respectively;1.25±1.39 and 1.21±1.40 in female,respectively,which were significantly different (t=2.398,t-2.551;both P40 years old were all significantly higher than those<40 years old(t一2.060,t一2.536,t=2.808;all P<0.05).In patients with normal ALT levels,75 cases (52.03%) showed HBV DNA level≤1×103 copy/mL,56(38.89%) showed≥G2 of liver tissues; the ALT level and inflammation grade of liver tissues was significantly correlated(r:O.244,P-O.004).In patients with elevated ALT 1evels,42 cases (31.57%) showed HBV DNA level≤1×10s copy/mL,89 (66.92%) showed≥G2 of liver tissues; the ALT level and inflammation grade of liver tissues was not significantly correlated (r=0.007,P=0.939) .The inflammation/fibrosis of liver tissues,HBV DNA levels in patients with both HBsAg and HBcAg positive in liver tissues were significantly higher than those in other patients (P

Objective To investigate the expressions of cell phenotypes CD_8 and CD_(28) of peripheral blood lymphocytes in patients with colorectal cancer. Method CD_8 and CD_(28) of cell phenotypes were measured by flow cytometry in 50 patients with colorectal cancer (cancer group) and 30 nontumorous patients (control group). Results The expression of CD_8 in cancer group was significantly higher than that in control group [(32.24±8.38)% vs (22.18±7.55)%](P < 0.01). CD_(28) and CD_8~+/CD_(28)~+ were much lower than those in control group [(52.03±10.94)% vs (60.60±7.98)%,12.18±4.28 vs 16.38±4.94](P<0.01). CD_8~+/CD_(28)~+ in Dukes D stage patients were significantly lower than that in Dukes B stage patients (P<0.05). CD_(28) and CD_8~+/CD_(28)~+ in lymph node metastasis patients were much lower than those in lymph node negative patients (P < 0.01). CD_(28) and CD_8~+/CD_(28)~+ in serosa involved patients were lower than those in no serosa involved patients (P < 0.01). Conclusions The expressions of cell phenotypes CD_8 and CD_(28) of peripheral blood lymphocytes in patients with colorectal cancer are closely related to biological characteristics of the tumor. The assays of cell phenotypes CD_8 and CD_(28) might be useful for evaluating the immunal statement and prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer.

BACKGROUND:Bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) can accelerate vascularization of myocardial cell,relieve myocardial remodeling,and improve heart function.However,whether its paracrine action can facilitate the differentiation of CD117+ cardiac stem cells(CSCs) by effecting transforming growth factor-? Ⅲ(TGF-? Ⅲ) receptor expression is still unknown.OBJECTIVE:To study the influence of BMSCs on the expression of TGF-? Ⅲ receptor in the process of differentiation of CD117+ CSCs.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:In vitro cytology contract observation.The experiment was performed at the Xinhua Hospital from February 2008 to February 2009.MATERIALS:Neonatal rats,weighing 5-8 g,were used to prepare CSCs.Sprague Dawley rats,4 weeks old,weighing 200-250 g,were prepared for BMSCs.METHODS:CD117+CSCs were obtained from neonatal rats by explant cultures and magnetic bead cell sorting.Immunohistochemical experiment was performed to identify specificity of CSCs.CD117+CSCs suspension were synchronization without serum for 24 hours,washed by PBS for 3 times,and then cultured with DMEM/F12,followed by inoculation into 6-well plate.The cells were divided into the control and co-culture groups.In the control group,CSCs were induced differentiation by cardiac spheres,and Transwell chamber were used in the co-culture group.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The growth of CSCs was observed by inverted microscope.The changes of cardiac Troponin T(cTnT),connexin43,TGF-? Objective To estimate the excess relative risk coefficients of stomach cancer for Chinese population attributable to ionizing radiation.Methods The excess relative risk and excess absolute risk coefficients of stomach cancer were estimated based on Life Span Study by using risk models developed by BEIR Ⅶ committee (Biological Effect of Ionizing Radiation).Guided by transportation methods from Life Span Study to Americans,we determined that transportation method for Chinese population includes both multiplicative and additive models with a weight of 0.7 and 0.3 respectively,on an arithmetic scale.Besides,curve fitting was used to obtain sex-age-specific stomach cancer baseline incidence based on Chinese cancer annual report.Then,Chinese excess relative risk coefficients of stomach cancer were obtained by substituting excess relative risk,excess absolute risk of Life Span Study and Chinese baseline incidence rate into risk transportation model.Results Excess relative risk coefficients of stomach cancer for Chinese population are 0.26/Sv for male and 0.64/Sv for female,whose exposure age is 30 years old and cancer age is 60 years old.Coefficients increase with decreased exposure age and cancer age.Conclusions Excess relative risk coefficients of stomach cancer for Chinese population are by larger higher than that of Life Span Study,and their sex-age tendency are similar.

Objective To estimate the averaged excess relative risk(ERR) in Chinese population based on the radiogenic cancer risk of leukemia in Japanese atomic bomb survivor cohort,and to discuss proper method suitable for risk transfer between populations.Methods Based on BEIR Ⅶ radiogenic cancer model and population transfer model,and the 2009 Chinese leukemia baseline rates given in 2012 Chinese Cancer Registry Annual Report,comparison was made of population incidences in seveal countries to adjust the weighting factors.Results The ERR of three subtypes of leukemia as a whole was obtained,and the weighting factors for risk transfer model was assumed.The additive factor for male was 0.2,and the multiplicative factor was 0.8,while the additive factor for female was 0.15,and the multiplicative factor was 0.85.Conclusions For the risk transfer between populations,weighting factor was adjusted as a whole to obtain the ERR value for estimating the risk to Chinese population.The risk transfer method suitable for Chinese population was obtained by using the incidence rate available for Chinese population to directly transfer radiation-induced leukemia risk to Chinese from Japanese.

Objective To study effects of low molecular weight heparin on liver fibrosis and the serum levels of TGF-?_1 in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus.Methods 45 patients with chronic hepatitis B virus were randomized into control group(the routine strategy)and trial group(the routine strategy + low molecular weight heparin).The period of treatment is 3 weeks.Serum hepatic fibrosis indices before and after heparin treatment were examined by RIA,the levels of serum TGF-?_1 before and after heparin treatment were examined by ELISA.Results Hepatic functions became significantly better in trial groups,serum PⅢP and type IV collage levels and the levels of serum TGF-?_1 in trial group decreased significantly after treatment.Conclusions The mechanism of anti-fibrosis action of LMWH may inhibited production of TGF-?_1 in patients with HBV.
