Objective To observe the effect of early rehabilitation training combined with continuous passive motion (CPM) on knee joint function after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).Methods23 patients (28 knees) post TKA were randomly divided into the treatment group (15 knees) and control group (13 knees). The patients of the treatment group were treated with early rehabilitation training combined with CPM, and those of the control group were treated with CPM only.ResultsThe scores of knee grade and function grade of the treatment group were not different from those of the control group before treatment ( P>0.05), but two weeks later, there was a significnat difference between two groups ( P<0.01).ConclusionThe early rehabilitation training combined with CPM can improve recovery of function of knee joint after TKA.

Objective To investigate the changes and clinical significances of the chemokines of interferon-?-inducible protein-10(IP-10),monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1) and growth-related oncogene-?(Gro-?) involved in pathagenesis of Kawasaki disease(KD) and HenochSchonlein purpura(HSP).Methods The chemokines production of IP-10,MCP-1 and Gro-? were assayed by ELISA in 15 patients with KD,12 patients with HSP and 10 healthy children. Results The plasma levels of IP-10 and MCP-1 were markedly elevated in KD group [(394.2?176.4)and(420.5?163.4)ng?L-1]compared with HSP group[(94.8?66.4)and(109.2?76.6)ng?L-1] and the control group [(76.4?46.5)and(87.7?47.8)ng?L-1](all P0.05),as well as Gro-? between the three groups. Conclusion Monocyte may enhance the immune damage in KD pathogenesis, and the levels of IP-10,MCP-1 may be important indexes for KD.Neutrophil may be not involved in pathogenesis of HSP and KD.

BACKGROUND: Osteoporosis is easily seen in postmenopausal women. The bone loss situation is different among populations of different age and body mass.OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effects of age, menopausal duration, menopause age, height, body mass and body mass index on bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women.DESIGN: Random sampling test was conducted to postmenopausal women.SETTING: A clinical trial center of a provincial Chinese traditional medicine research institute, an orthopaedic department of a university hospital and a bone wound department of a university.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 603 naturally postmenopausal women in Fuzhou area from September 2000 to August 2003.METHODS: Random sampling method was used. The age of participants, menopausal duration, menopause age, height, body mass and bone mineral index(BMI) were recorded. Dual energy X-ray bone mineral density machine was used to examine the bone mineral density of lumbar, neck of femur, great trochanter and Ward' s area while SPSS software was used to conduct regression analysis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The correlation between age, menopausal years, menopause age, height, body mass, BMI and bone density as well as the regression equation.RESULTS: There was very significant correlation between age, menopausal duration, body mass, BMI of postmenopausal women and bone mineral density of lumbar, neck of femur, great trochanter and Ward' s area. The BMD in low body mass group is greatly lower than that of obesity group( P < 0.01 ). The main factors impacting BMD of lumbar are in turn age, body mass and menopause age while the regression equation: y = 0. 927 - 0. 0093 X1+ 0. 0037X2 + 0. 004X3. The factors impacting BMD of neck of femur are in turn menopausal duration, body mass, menopause age and the regression equation was: y = 0. 687 - 0. 0081 X1 + 0. 0048 X2 - 0. 0034 X3. And the factors affecting BMD of greattrochanter are age, body mass and menopause age while the regression equation was y = 0. 591 - 0. 0038 X1 + 0. 0042 X2 - 0. 0024 X3. Age, body mass index and menopausal duration are main factors affecting BMD of Ward' s area and the regression equation was y =0. 686 -0. 0072 X1 +0. 0136 X2 -0. 0046 X3.CONCLUSION: The BMD of lumbar and hip gradually decreases with the increase of age in postmenopausal women. The risk of getting osteoporosis in people with low body mass is greater than women in normal body mass groupand obesity group.

The PCR product of PvpA gene was cloned into prokaryotic expression vector pET41a(+) and the recombinant expression vector was then transformed into E.coli DH5a after identified by restriction enzyme digestion and PCR.The positive recombinant plasmid was transformed into E.coli BL21 (D3) and induced to express PvpA protein. The obtained protein was analyzed by SDS-PAGE and Western blotting, purified by Ni-NTA affinity chromatography. The results showed that the purified PvpA fusion protein was obtained successfully. The expressed protein reacted to the high anti-PvpA immune serum from rabbit specially by western blotting. This study would be helpful to established a new diagnostic method for the detection of M.gallisepticum.

Objective To improve quota-sampling precision and reproducibility of the impedance blood rheometer. Methods Quota-sampling control circuit and the sampling needle's structure were improved for the early MVIS blood rheometer. The parameters of sampling were analyzed. Results After the improvement, the sampling errors were reduced obviously (less than ?3%). The quota-sampling handling was more accurater. Conclusion The precision and reproducibility of the blood rheometer are ensured.

Objective To investigate the clinical status of post-core crown in anterior teeth aesthetical restoration and to observe its effect. Methods 126 cases of anterior teeth in patients with mild deformity, restored with post-core crown after informed consent meanwhile conducted clinical follow-up observation. Results In addition to 2 cases of disease after root canal treatment, 1 incisal and labial surface of porcelain fracture, other cases achieved desired results in the way of self-satisfaction,clinical efficacy and x-ray observation and periapical films. Conclusion Post-core crown in anterior aesthetical restoration has a unique position and clinical efficacy.

Objective To study the effects ofXuling-Jiangu formula on bone mineral density and the bone biomechanic in the osteoporosis model rats. Methods According to the random number table method, 40 SD female rats were randomly divided into the caltrate D group, theXuling-Jianguformula group, the model group and the sham group,10 rats each group. In addition to the sham group, the other groups were osteoporosis model. After 30 days, the Caltrate D group received intragastric caltrate D mixed suspension 0.126 g/kg; the Xuling-Jiangu formula group receivedXuling-Jianguformula solution 15 g/kg, and the sham group and the model group received normal saline 10 ml/kg. After 12 weeks treatment, detection of left tibia bone mineral density andthree-point bending method was used for biomechanical testing. Results The mineral density of the Xuling-Jiangu formula group (0.244 ± 0.022 g/cm2,0.195 ± 0.017 g/cm2vs. 0.223 ± 0.013 g/cm2) were significantly higher than the model group and caltrate D group (P<0.01); compared with the model group, the bone biomechanictests in theXuling-Jiangu formula group (0.072 ± 0.036 kN vs.0.041 ± 0.015 kN; 843.754 ± 428.722 N/mm2vs. 482.084 ± 176.646 N/mm2) were significantly higher (P<0.05).ConclusionXuling-Jiangu formula canimprove the bone mineral density and the bone lbiomechanic of osteoporosis rats.
