Objective To evaluate the value of susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI)sequence in the diagnosis of metastatic en-cephaloma pre and after radiotherapy by comparing the appearance of the SWI and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging(T1 WI). Methods Thirty-eight lung cancer patients with brain metastases underwent SWI and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging re-spectively before and 2-3 months after radiotherapy.Evaluated the two methods by score(the score ranged from 0-3,0 represen-ted no showing,1 represented not showing clearly,2 represented could judging,3 represented showing obviously).Results Before radiotherapy,SWI detected 1 61 lesions of metastases and could obviously show tumor vascular in brain metastases (mean score 2.73±0.05).Contrast-enhanced T1 WI detected 1 61 lesions(mean score 1.93±0.04 ).SWI showed significantly higher score than enhanced T1 WI(P <0.05)through paired sample t test.After radiotherapy,SWI found 98 lesions (mean score 1.47±0.1 1 )and en-hanced T1 WI found 140 lesions (mean score 1.80±0.07),enhanced T1 WI had significantly higher score than SWI(P <0.05).Con-clusion SWI is superior to contrast-enhanced T1 WI to show the metastases before radiotherapy and can show tumor vascular in brain metastases obviously.SWI is inferior to enhanced T1 WI after radiotherapy.It has some value and may provide a new method for evaluating effects of radiotherapy.

Objective: To analyze chromosome aberrations in bladder transitional cell carcinoma with exfoliated cells, and to evaluate the clinical value of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in bladder cancer. Methods: FISH was performed using centromeric probes of 3, 7, 17 and locus probe of p16 to examine chromosome aberrations of exfoliated cells of 56 bladder cancer patients and 20 healthy controls to analyze the correlation of chromosome aberration with the pathological features of bladder cancer. The urine cytology of the 56 bladder cancer patients was performed. Results: The rates of aneuploidy of chromosomes 3, 7, and 17 were 58.9%, 39.3%, 58.9% and 75.0% for aberration of p16 in exfoliated cells from the 56 bladder cancer patients. All of the aberrations had no correlation with tumor stage (P>0.05). The aberrations of chromosomes 3, 7, and 17 were significantly correlated with pathological grade (P<0.05). The sensitivity of the 4 chromosome probes for detecting bladder cancer was 80.4%. The detection rate of FISH was obviously higher than that of udne cytology. Conclusion: Chromosome aberration is correlated with the growth of bladder cancer. The detection of FISH has significance for early di-agnosis, prognosis evaluation, and recurrence monitoring of bladder cancer.

[Objective] To search a suitable preoperative intestinal cleansing method for the operation of colon and rectum. [Methods] A randomized controlled trial was applied in 70 cases before colic and rectal operations. Group A was give:n decoction of Folium Cassiae for oral use and saline enema and Group B was treated with saline enema only. The effect on intestinal cleansing was observed during the operation. Object To compare the hupzine A (Hup A) in Huperzia serrata (Thunb.) Trev. obtained by different extracting methods and investigate the amount of alkaloids and the content of Hup A from different parts of the plants and from different places. Methods Using HPLC for the determination of Hup A. Results The content of Hup A in the stem and leaf is richer than that in the root. The content of Hup A from Guizhou, Guangdong and Anhui Provinces is 0.018%, 0.021% and 0.020% repectively; The difference of extract method of Hup A is no prominence. Conclusion The content of Hup A in the ground is richer than that of underground, and there are some difference in the content of Hup A obtained from different places.

Objective:To observe the inhibition of Chuanhong Baliu Paste on S180 tumor and investigate its apoptotic induction. Methods:60 mice were divided into 5 groups randomly after inoculating S180 tumor. S180-bearing mice were smeared with different dosages of Chuanhong Baliu Paste respectively on skin of right armpit. Model group was administrated with normal sodium and positive group was injected intraperitoneally with Cyclophosphamide (25mg/kg) respectively. Objective To evaluate the efficacy of wet compress with herbs for cetuximab correlative erythra. Methods Forty-two patients received radiochemotherapy combined with cetuximab were randomly divided into two groups. The 23 patients in the experimental group received one-week wet compress with 5g/100ml flos lonicerae twice to five times per day. While the 19 patients in the control group were given wet compress with tepid water. The efficacy on day 3 and day 7 were observed. Results The efficacy on erythra was better in the experimental group than that of control group P<0.05. Conclusion The wet compress with flos lonicerae is effective,safe and economical for the treatment of cetuximab correlative erythra,which is deserved to be applied in clinical practice.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical efficacy of bladder hydrodistention and intravesical sodium hyaluronate in the treatment of interstitial cystitis (IC).Methods Twenty-one IC patients received intravesical sodium hyaluronate therapy under combined blockage or intravenous anesthesia.Bladders were perfused with normal saline under 100 cm H2O perfusion pressure and expanded for 10 min,the bladders were then injected through a catheter with 40 mg/50 ml sodium hyaluronate which was released after 1 h.Intravesical perfusion was applied once every week four to six times in a course of treatment.Results The average bladder capacity was extended from 191.6 ± 88.7 ml before expansion to 425.3 ± 79.8 ml after bladder expansion ( P =0.000).The extension was done under anesthesia.There were two suspected bladder ruptures after starting the bladder expansion at 6.5 min and 7.2 min.There was significant gross hematuria in 19 cases,10 min after bladder expansion.After treatment,the catheters were removed 24 h after manipulation in 17 patients; the catheters were removed 72 h after manipulation in two cases with hematuria;the catheters were removed four days after manipulation in the two cases of suspected bladder rupture.Pain was significantly reduced after the catheters were removed and the maximum urinary output increased slightly.The day before the second injection of sodium hyaluronate,the urinary frequency decreased significantly than before start of treatment (32.8 vs 18.5 times/24 h).The maximum urinary output increased significantly compared with the output before treatment (86.7 vs 151.9 ml).Pain was reduced significantly after treatment (8.7 vs 3.0).The O'Leary-Sant IC score and the QOL were significantly improved (30.0 vs 17.0,5.9 vs 2.4,respectively) (P =0.000).After the third treatment,the symptoms continued to improve.The treatment results were best in the fifth week at the time of the sixth injection of sodium hyaluronate.Symptoms rebounded at six months.However compared with that before treatment,the difference was still statistically significant ( P =0.000).ConclusionsBladder hydrodistention under anesthesia for severe intractable IC patients produces immediate effectiveness.Sodium hyaluronic infusion can alleviate urinary frequency and pain,and the effectiveness and duration of treatment are positively correlated.

Objeetive To investigate the clinical efficacy of treating stomach cance belonging to spleen and stomach deficient cold type with self-designed formula and chemotherapy.Methods 100 patients of stomach cancer belonging to stomach and spleen deficient cold were randomly grouped into a control group and a treatment group,with 50 cases in each group.The control group was only treated with chemotherapy,and the treatment group was additionally treated with self-designed Chinese formula on the basis of the control group.After 3 months' treatment,the curative effect,the improvement of life quality,the changes of body weight,the improvement of peripheral blood and immune function,and the occurrence of adverse reaction were observed.The survival rate of patients after 1,3 and 5 years' treatment was investigated.Results ① Short term curative effect:the total effectiveness of the control group and the treatment group was 60.0％ (30/50) and 30.0％ (15/50) respectively,with the treatment group being better than the control group(Z=-2.100,P＜0.05);② life quality:theimprovement rate of life quality in the treatment group and the control group was 64.0％ (32/50) and 20.0％ (10/50) respectively,with the treatment group being better than the control group (Z=-3.259,P＜0.05); ③ body weight:the improvement rate of body weight in the treatment group and the control group was 24.0％ and 16.0％ respectively,and there was no significant difference (Z=-1.815,P＞0.05) ; ④ peripheral blood:the peripheral blood abnormality rates of treatment group was obviously lower than the control group (Z=-4.286,P＜0.05) ;⑤ immune function changes:CD4+、CD8+、and the activity of NK cell of two groups after the treatment [the treatment group was (40.8 ± 4.1)％,(26.1-3.2)％,(83.57-2.52)％ respectively; the control group was (31.7±2.9)％、(33.8±3.0)％、(92.88±3.83)％ respectively] wasobviously improved compared with the same group before the treatment [the treatment group was (34.2±3.5)％,(31.0±2.0)％,(85.01±2.92)％ respectively; the control group was (34.0±3.2)％,(30.9±2.2)％,(85.02± 3.48) ％ respectively].The immune indexes (CD4+、CD8++、CD4+/CDg+and the activity of NK cell)in the treatment group presented significant difference (P＜0.01) than the control group after the treatment.⑥adverse reaction:compared with the control group,the occurrence rate of adverse reaction of the treatment group was obviously lower than the control group,and there was significant difference (Z=-5.297,P＜0.05).⑦survival rate:the survival rate of patients after 1,3 and 5 years' treatment in the treatment group was better than the control group,and there was significant difference (x2=5.263,12.96,7.895,P＜0.05).Conclusion The combination of self-designed Chinese formula and chemotherapy could effectively relieve the clinical symptoms,improve the immunity,reduce the occurrence of adverse reaction,and improve the life quality of patients with stomach cancer belonging to stomach and spleen deficient cold type.

Objective To investigate the relationship between cardiac vagus nerves and changes of connexins(Cx)and intracellular gap junction(GJ)distribution pattern in superior vena cava(SVC)myosleeve in dog with atrial fibrillation(AF).Methods Twenty four hybrid dogs were divided into sham operation group(Sham group,n=8),SVC-AO fat pad removed group(RM group,n=8)and SVC-AO fat pad reserved group(RS group,n=8).In RM group and RS group,right atrial pacing was performed at a frequency of 500～650/min for 6 weeks to establish AF model.AF was induced by programmed stimulation or burst stimulation of atrial pacing.The expression and distribution of Cx40 and Cx43 in the SVC myosleeve tissue in three groups were analyzed by immunofluorescence staining.Transmission electron microscopy was used to observe the uhrastructural organization of gap junction(GJ).Results The rate of inducing sustained AF(＞ 15 min)in RS group was significantly higher than that in RM group (P ＜ 0.01).The expression of Cx40 and Cx43 in the SVC myosleeve in sham group and RS group were significantly higher than that in RM group(P ＜ 0.05).Furthermore,the expression of Cx40 and Cx43 in RS group were obviously higher than that in sham group(P ＜0.05).The ratio of end-to-end to side-to-side in RS group was lower than that in Sham group and RM group.Comparing with RM group,the channel of GJ became shorter and wider in RS group(P ＜0.05).Sarcomere was dissolved and mitochondrion showed vacuole degeneration in RS group.Conclusion The remodeling of Cx40 and Gx43 in SVC myosleeve tissue may be mediated by vagus nerves.It is conducive to the maintenance and stability of AF.However,this effect can be weakened by removing SVC-AO fat pad of canine.

Inflammation response is the most crucial link in the pathogeneses of spinal cord injury (SCI),and is the basis of secondary damage. NF-κB Signalling pathway is activated excessively after SCI,so that numerous NF-κB possessing biological activities is quickly translocated into the nuclear and regulates the target genes,resulting in heightened inflammation and further tissue damage. Suppressing NF-κB signalling pathway and controlling inflammation response effectively are effective approaches to promoting SCI repair. It is found that curcumin has multiple target molecules to suppress NF-κB signalling pathway,block the excessive activation of NF-κB and reduce the expression of proinflammation cytokines,which plays an important role in SCI repair. This article discusses NF-κB signalling pathway,the contribution of NF-κB signalling pathway to SCI and the role of curcumins inhibition of NF-κB signalling pathway in SCI.
