2.Ligustrazine inhibited TNF-α-induced TGF-β1 and CTGF expression in human peritoneal mesothelial cells
Basic & Clinical Medicine 2009;29(11):1185-1188
Objective To investigate the effects of Ligustrazine on TNF-α-induced TGF-β and CTGF expression in human peritoneal mesothelial cells (HPMCs). Methods HPMCs were isolated from human omenta by trypsin di-gestion. Then, the subcultured HPMCs were divided into control group, TNF-α-induced (1 μg/L) group and TNF-α-induced plus low-, medium-and high-dose Ligustrazine (10, 20 and 40 mg/L Ligustrazine respectively) groups. The viability of HPMCs was measured by MTT assay. RT-PCR was used to detect the expressions of TGF-β1 and CTGF mRNAs in HPMCs. TGF-β1 and CTGF in supernatants were measured by ELISA. Cell protein concentration was measured by trace bicinchoninic acid (BCA) method to validate the ELISA assay results. Results Ligustrazine significantly decreases TNF-α-induced TGF-β1 and CTGF expression in a dose-dependent manner at both protein and gene levels ( P < 0. 05 ). In addition, medium-and high-dose Ligustrazine injection significantly ameliorates the viability of HPMCs inhibited by TNF-α ( P < 0. 05 ). Conclusion Ligustrazine inhibits expressions of TGF-β and CTGF of HPMCs in an inflammatory conditions.

Objective To summary the results of fixation and fusion with lateral mass screw of atlas and vertebra dentata pedicle screw for the treatment of atlantoaxial instability. Methods From February 2002 to March 2004, 15 cases suffered with atlantoaxial instability were included in this study. There were 9 males and 6 females, with a mean age of 39.5 years old(ranged 15 to 57 years old). There were 5 cases for old odontoid fracture, 4 cases for congenital loose odontoid process, 6 cases for fresh odontoid fracture(Aderson ⅡC). 7 cases were fixed with Vertex, 3 Axis and 5 Cervifix instruments. JOA scores in preoperation were from 5.1 to 10.9, with an average of 7.6. Skull traction was performed in each patient preoperatively. The screws were placed in lateral mass of atlas beside the posterior arch of atlas about 18-20 mm and the point of intersection above 2 mm inferior boarder of posterior arch. Vertical with coronal plane, the tip of the screw made 5? to side of head in sagittal plane. The site of the screws were placed in vertebra dentate was divide equally the inferior articular process of axis, made 15? with sagittal plane and 30? with cross section. The diameter of the screw was 3.5 mm, the length of in lateral mass of atlas was from 28 to 32 mm, and from 22 to 26 mm in vertebra dentate pedicle screw. Results There were no spinal cord and vertebral artery injury after surgery. Follow-up duration was from 10 to 25 months, with average 14 months. The postoperative JOA scores were from 13.2 to 16.8, with average 14.8. The improve rate was 87.5 percent. The plant bones all fused and there were no internal fixation rupture and mobiled. Conclusion Lateral mass screw of atlas and vertebra dentata pedicle screw with three-dimension fixed virtues could be used to treat atlantoaxial instability.

A retrospective analysis was carried out in 220 cases of nonfunctional pituitary adenoma (NFA).The diagnosis was based on negative immunohistochemical staining,no elevation of plasma hormone level, and no symptom caused by increased hormone level.Incidence of NFA was the highest(33.13%) among the pituitary tumors. It was more common in males than in females (132 ∶ 88).The highest prevalence resided in the elder group.N FA often caused pituitary apoplexy, and mainly presented as compression symptoms including visual field abnormalities (85.00%),headache (80%),hypopsia (68.66%),and other symptoms of hypopituitarism (44.04%).Imaging features showed tumor size usually within 2-4 cm (71.82%),and aggregated degree Ⅲ or Ⅳ (83.64%).

Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2012;34(4):265-267
Objective To estimate the test-retest reliability of limits of stability (LOS) measurement in healthy young adults. MethodsTwenty-five healthy young adults participated this study.Their center of pressure (COP) displacements were recorded while they stood on a force platform. The subjects performed maximal voluntary sway maneuvers in the anterior, posterior, left and right directions in turn. The LOS in each direction was calculated using balance clinic software. Each subject underwent 3 consecutive, identical tests at 7 day intervals with the same investigator. The test-retest reliability of LOS was analyzed using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC).ResultsFor the first test the ICC values ( ICC1 ) of the LOS ranged from 0.790 to 0.857.For the mean LOS of the first two tests the ICC2 ranged from 0.906 to 0.937,and for the mean LOS of three tests the ICC3 ranged from 0.910 to 0.948. ConclusionThe LOS test is a reliable measurement with healthy young adults. In clinical practice, averaging two LOS tests is suggested in assessing balance and postural control with young adults.

Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2013;35(9):696-699
Objective To determine normal reference values for conduction in the posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve. Methods Antidromic sensory conduction examinations of the bilateral posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve were conducted with fifty-eight healthy subjects. The onset latency, peak latency,peak-to-peak amplitude and conduction velocity of the sensory nerve action potentials (SNAPs) were recorded and the inter-side ratios of the peak-to-peak amplitudes were calculated. Results The observed means (and standard deviations) of the onset time, the peak latency, the amplitude and the conduction velocity were 1.96 (0.12) ms,2.48 (0.14) ms,7.39 (2.36) μV and 61.39 (3.69) m/s,respectively.The side-to-side amplitude ratio (smaller/larger) was 0.88 ± 0.09,and no significant difference was observed between the left and right side. The average peak latency and amplitude were significantly different for different age groups. There was no statistically significant difference among the age groups with regard to onset latency or conduction velocity. Conclusion Conduction in the posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve is easy to study. The peak latency is prolonged and the amplitude decreases with age, suggesting that different normal reference values should be established for different age groups.

Objective To investigate the effect of low molecular weight substance extracted from chick embryo on mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)deletion in senile mice induced bv D-galactose.Methods Senile mice induced by D-galactose were treated with low molecular weight substance extracted from chick embryo. The deleted fragment of mtDNA was examined by using polymerase chain reaction technique and agarose gel electrophoresis.A relative quantitation of band densities was performed by using densitometry scanning techniques. The deletion was identified by using direct sequencing analysis. Results The 4239 bD mtDNA deletion were present in liver, cerebral cortex and hippocampus tissues in all of the mice.and it was significantly higher in senile model mice than in control mice(all P<0.01).Low molecular weight substance extracted from chick embryo reduced the mtDNA deletion in various tissues in senile model mice(all P<0.05).Deletion was more abundant in liver than in cerebral cortex and hippoeampus. Conclusions The 4239 bp mtDNA deletion is a common deletion, and low molecular weight substance extracted from chick embryo could decrease the incidence of 4239 bD mtDNA deletion.
