Objective To characterize the manifestations of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in nervous system with in-flammation-like presentation. Methods We reviewed clinical and laboratory data obtained from 3 cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in nervous system with inflammation-like presentation. Those data include clinical manifestations,CSF examina-tions neuroimaging, pathology of biopsies, treatment and prognosis. Results The clinical manifestations of NHL in nervous system were variable and the findings of cerebrospinal fluid and imaging were not characteristic.Parital relief of symptoms by steroid cortisone could be achieved in some cases which maght further increased the difficulty in differentiating NHL from CNS inflammation.Several signs including no evidence of CNS inflammation, multiple organ involyements, especially the organ involvements outside CNS,and deterioration after a transient relief of symptoms by steroid cortisone, strongly suggest the possibility of NHL.Condusions We should increase physicians'awareness to NHL to reduce the misdiagnosis even though the final diagnosis relies on pathological examination.

Objective To validate the biology reference interval of the Dartial biochemistry test items and provide accurate diagnosis basis for the clinic. Methods According to NCCLS C28-A2 recommendation method, two biochemistry analyzers'performance was validated.20 healthy persons for the asexual biological difference project and female group as well as male group (each group consist of 20 persons)for the sex biology difference project were recruited according to the laboratory SOP.If the validation had doubt, other two groups were need. The sera from these individuals were examined by the full-automatic ADVIA 1650 biochemistry analysis system. Results Two full-automatic ADVIA 1650 biochemistry analyzes conformed to the requirements. In 16 test items participating in this investigation.the analysis showed more than 5%results fell outside the biology reference interval for GGT and HDL-C,whereas 95% results fell in the biology reference interval for TP.All other results fell in the biology reference interval. Conclusions This validation indicats that except GGT and HDL-C,the biology reference intervals which are currently being used are suitable for our laboratory. This verification is persuasive and calpable of finding the deviation of biology reference interval.Setting up verification system warrants further generalization.

Objective To assess the efficacy of stone fragmentation and clearance of this new intracorporeal ultrasound lithotripter (CQS-01) compared with currently available ultrasound units (EMS-Ⅲ/Ⅳ).Methods Twenty phantom stones composed of dental gypsum were randomly divided into four groups, and CQS-01 ultrasound lithotripter (70% power and 70% duty factor),EMS-Ⅲ ultrasound lithotripter (70% power and 70% duty factor),EMS-Ⅳ ultrasound lithotripter (type A,70% power and 70% duty factor) and EMS-Ⅳ ultrasound lithotripter (type B,70% power and 100% duty factor) were used to fragment and removepbantom stones. The mean stone breakdown time and fragment removal time and stone fragmental sizes for the standard ultrasound devices were compared to determine the completeness and efficiency of stone fragmentation and removal. Results The average time for stone breakdown was 7.4 ± 1.9 s,9.4 ± 1.6 s,82.2 ± 12.6 s and 51.4 ± 18.7 s,respectively. There was no significant difference between CQS-01 and EMS-Ⅲ (P > 0.05),but there was significant difference between CQS-01 and EMS-Ⅳ (A or B) (P < 0.001).The average time for stone clearance using the ultrasound devices was 387.8 ± 68.0 s,41 1.6 ± 57.6 s,568.0 ± 119.1 s and 383.6 ± 75.6 s,respectively. In addition, the average size of the largest fragments removed was the same among the groups (< 3 mm). Conclusion The ultrasound capabilities in a newly developed lithotriter (CQS-01) exhibited the same ability to fragment and clear phantom stones compared with standard ultrasound devices.
