Objective: To examine reliability and validity of Chinese Cognitive Ability Scale (CCAS).Methods:The CCAS was administered 321 children, 275 adults, 32 patients with brain damage, and 31 children with mental retardation.Out of them, 26 children were tested with WISC-CR and 26 adults with WAIS-RC.Results: The test-retest reliability coefficients of subtests and scales ranged from 0.732 to 0.894, 0.919 to 0.960 for children, 0.859 to 0.937, 0.968 to 0.981 for adults; The reliability coefficients for children (quick coding was omitted) ranged from 0.810-0.928 (Split-half), 0.737-0.923 (Cronbach's ?) and 0.737-0.945 (generalizability) for subtests, 0.939-0.976,0.898-0.965 and 0.898-0.965 for scales; Coefficients for adults ranged from 0.829-0.948, 0.747-0.941 and 0.747-0.941 for subtests, 0.945-0.979, 0.915-0.967 and 0.915-0.967 for scales; The CCAS IQs were high correlated with WAIS-RC IQs (VIQ=0.775,PIQ=0.621,FIQ=0.724) and WISC-CR IQs (VIQ=0.888,PIQ=0.779,FIQ=0.886) , the CCAS VIQ, PIQ, and FIQ were 5.3,9.2,and 7.8 points less than WAIS-RC, and 2.0,7.2,and 5.0 points less than WISC-CR; Comparing with normal groups, mean IQs of brain damaged adults(VIQ=80.50,PIQ=80.59,FIQ=78.91) and mental retardation children(VIQ=43.68,PIQ=49.77,FIQ=44.06)were much lower.Conclusion: The Chinese Cognitive Ability Scale has excellent retest stability, internal consistency reliability, convergent and discriminant validity.

Objective To study the characteristic of cognitive function impaired and its relationship with the psychiatric symptoms in patients with first-episode schizophrenia.Methods 43 first-episode male schizophrenia patients diagnosed with DSM-Ⅳ were recruited in the study and received the atypical antipsychotics treatment 8weeks.The total score and sub-scores of Chinese Cognitive Ability Scale (CCAS)were obtained for all the patients pre-and post-treatments,and the patients were also assessed by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS).Results The differences of the intelligence quotient(IQ) and its cognitive function factors between pre-and post-treatment of the patients were significant(P＜ 0.01).The total IQ score (85.7 ± 11.5),learning ability (17.9± 2.3),reasoning ability (16.1 ± 3.4),processing speed (16.9 ± 2.1),working memory (13.8 ± 2.6),space/calculate (17.5 ± 2.9),verbal IQ (86.8 ± 11.7),performance IQ (83.9 ± 12.4) before treatment and cognitive score (97.6 ± 14.3) as well as cognitive function factor (learning ability (20.1 ± 2.9),reasoning ability (18.9± 3.1),processing speed (19.7 ± 1.8),working memory (15.7 ± 2.5),space/calculate (20.8 ± 2.5),verbal IQ (98.3 ± 13.7),performance IQ (95.8 ± 14.6) after treatment,there were significant differences pre-and posttreatment (P ＜ 0.01).The difference of IQ pre-and post-treatment was significantly correlated with that of total score and positive score of PANSS(r =0.596 or 0.783).Conclusions (1) This finding supports that the cognitive function impairment exists in the early stage of schizophrenia.(2)The typical antipsychotic drugs can improve the cognitive function impairment and psychiatric symptoms of schizophrenia.(3) The cognitive function impairment of schizophrenia has significant relation to the positive symptoms,but no relation to the negative symptoms.

Objective To explore the curative effect of insulin combined with An Er Shu in treatment ofⅡtoⅢ degree pressure sores of elderly patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 120 cases of elderly diabetes mellitus patients with Ⅱ to Ⅲ degree pressure sores were randomly divided into the control group (30 cases, conventional nursing treatment), the experimental group 1 (30 cases, insulin spray coating), the experimental group 2 (30 cases, An Er Shu brushing besmear), and the experimental group 3(30 cases, insulin combined An Er Shu). The curative effect and the healing time were observed. Results After four weeks treatment total effective rate was 60.0%(18/30) in the control group, 66.7%(20/30) in the experimental group 1, 76.7%(23/30) in the experimental group 2, 100.0%(30/30) in the experimental group 3, and there was significant difference in the 3 experimental groups comparing with the control group, the experimental group 1 and the experimental group 2, respectively (χ2=15.000, 12.000, 5.822, P<0.05 or 0.01). The healing time ofⅡdegree pressure sores was (19.03 ± 0.85) d in the control group, (18.90 ± 0.92) d in the experimental group 1, (18.43 ± 0.82) d in the experimental group 2, and (16.97 ± 1.25) d in the experimental group 3, and there was significant difference in the experimental group 3 comparing with the control group, experimental group 1 and experimental group 2, respectively (t=8.013, 7.918, 8.930, P<0.01), and in the experimental group 2 comparing with the control group (t=3.525, P<0.01). The healing time ofⅢdegree pressure sores was (24.17 ± 1.51) d in the control group, (23.63 ± 1.33) d in the experimental group 1, (23.47 ± 1.25) d in the experimental group 2, and (21.07 ± 1.46) d in the experimental group 3, and there was significant difference in the experimental group 3 comparing with the control group, experimental group 1 and experimental group 2, respectively (t=6.918, 7.048, 9.200, P<0.01). Pressure sores area reduction was (44.47 ± 37.63)%in the control group, (56.50 ± 39.64)%in the experimental group 1, (66.23 ± 37.54)%in the experimental group 2, and (96.52 ± 7.71) % in the experimental group 3, and there was significant difference in the experimental group 3 comparing with the control group, the experimental group 1 and the experimental group 2, respectively (Z=-4.274,-4.274,-3.400, P<0.01). Conclusions Insulin combined An Er Shu in treatment of pressure sores in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus can improve curative effect and shorten the healing time.

Objective To explore the relationship between infant feeding practices and infants growth,especially the weight gain for length in the first 6 months of life. Methods Two-hundred healthy full-term singlet normal birth weight 5 - 6 months old infants and their main care givers were recruited in Kongjiang community health service center in Shanghai. The questionnaires included infants feeding pattern, feeding environment and care givers feeding behaviors, and were completed on-site by investigators. The birth weight was obtained. The weight and length of infants at 6 months were measured. Results There were 70/200 (35.0%) infants overweight (BMI for age Z score>+1) at 6 months. There were more overweight boys than girls (40.0% vs. 30.9%, x2 = 1.798, P = 0.180). Compared with normal weight infants, the overweight infants had same birth weight (3.30 ± 0.35 kg vs. 3.35 ± 0.32 kg, t =1.010, P = 0.314) and same length at 6 months (67.64 ± 2.10 cm vs. 67.91 ± 1.97 cm, t=- 0.896, P = 0.371). However, the overweight infants gained much more weight for length in the first six months of life. At 6 months, the weight and BMI of overweight infants was significantly higher than that of normal weight infants (9.16 ± 0.67 vs. 7.94 ±0.64, t = 12.324, P < 0.01;19.86 ± 1.24 vs. 17.41 ± 0.80, t = 14.953, P < 0.01). The rates of exclusive breastfeeding for at least four months, continued breastfeeding at six months, complementary food consistency, and complementary feeding frequency, were not significantly differenct between overweight and normal weight infants (x2 =0.723 - 2.701, P > 0.05). The grandparents played an important role in infants feeding in Shanghai. There were 39.0% infants fed only by grandparents, and 23.0% infants fed jointly by grandparents and parents (x2 = 0.175, P > 0.05).The care givers' educational level and knowledge of feeding skill were similar in overweight and normal weight infants (x2 = 0.446, t = 0.949, P > 0.05). However, the overweight infants were fed more quickly than normal weight infants (Z = 2.753, P < 0.01), and there was less language communication between care givers and overweight infants during feeding (Z = 2.932, P < 0.01). In overweight infants, the overfeeding behaviors of care givers were positively correlated with BAZ (r = 0.281, P < 0.05). Conclusions Overweight in early life is associated with some particular infants feeding behaviors of care givers in Shanghai. The long term effect of more rapid weight gain for length in the first 6 months of life on the risk of childhood obesity warranted to be further followed and researched.

Objective: To study the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) during angiogenesis in oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).Methods:Surgical specimens from 45 patients with oral SCC were examined for VEGF expression and microvessel density(MVD) by immunocytochemical staining. Anti-VEGF polyclonal antibody was used to determine VEGF expression and anti-CD 34 monoclonal antibody was used to determine MVD. Results:①VEGF protein was mainly found in cytoplasm of cancer cells and in few endothelial cells. Objective To observe the effects of functional ambulation training in a realistic environment based on the activities of daily living among stroke patients with hemiplegia.Methods Thirty-two stroke survivors with hemiplegia were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group,each of 16.Both groups were given routine rehabilitation training,while the experimental group was additionally given functional ambulation training based on the activities of daily living in a realistic environment for 60 min per day,five days a week for six weeks.Both groups were evaluated using the mini-mental state examination (MMSE),the Holden walking functional class assessment (HWFCA),the Berg balance scale (BBS),functional gait assessment (FGA),the 5 times sit to stand test (FTSST),the timed up and go test (TUGT),and rated using the specific activity balance confidence scale (ABC) and the modified Barthel index (MBI).Results Before the training,no significant differences between the two groups were found in terms of any of the measurements.After the six weeks of training,significant improvement was observed in all of the outcome measures except the MMSE and the HWFCA,with the experimental group scoring significantly better,on average,than the control group.Conclusion When combined with routine rehabilitation training,functional ambulation training based on the activities of daily living in a realistic environment can significantly enhance the functional gait,balance and postural control of stroke survivors.This should facilitate their activities in daily life and improve their confidence in maintaining their balance.

Objective To identify the risk factors for acute kidney injury (AKI) in overweight patients who underwent surgery for the treatment of acute type A aortic dissection(TAAD).Methods A retrospective study including 108 consecutive overweight patients(body mass index(BMI) ≥24) between January 2010 and May 2013 in Beijing Anzhen Hospital was performed with Sun's procedure of total aortic arch replacement and frozen elephant trunk implantation.AKI was as defined according to Acute Kidney Injury Network (AKIN) criteria based on serum creatinine(sCr) or urine output.Results The mean age of the patients was(43.69 ± 9.66) years.During the postoperative period seventy-two patients(66.7％) developed AKI.The overall postoperative mortality rate was 7.4％,8.3％ in AKI group and 5.6％ in non-AKI group.There is no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P =0.32).A logistic regression analysis was performed to find out the independent risk factors for AKI:elevated preoperative sCr level and postoperative drainage volume.Renal replacement therapy(RRT) was performed in fifteen patients (13.9 ％).Conclusion A higher incidence of AKI (66.7 ％) in overweight patients following acute TAAD was identified.The logistic regression model found out elevated preoperative sCr level and 72 hour drainage volume as the two independent risk factors for AKI in overweight patients.More attention should be paid to prevent AKI in overweight patients following TAAD.
