Objective To investigate the detection value of plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) in patients with heart failure.Methods 90 patients with heart failure were selected as subjects of this experiment.These include left ventricular failure,left ventricular diastolic failure and normal cardiac function.The same period 100 cases of healthy people were selected as control group.Compared four groups of patients with plasma BNP.Results plasma BNP of Heart failure patients was higher than the healthy group( P ＜ 0.05 ).The level of the serum BNP of failure patients with left ventricular systolic function was higher than those of other heart failure patients ( all P ＜ 0.05 ).Conclusion Patientswith heart failure plasma BNP to aid medical diagnosis,it has high clinical value.

Objective:To study the safety of gene transfection with surgical suture into rabbit's tongue muscle .Methods:pBLacZ gene was transfected into tongue muscle of rabbit by implantation of 1 cm surgical suture,which had been soaked in pBlacZ plasmid solution for overnight.The growth of the muscle cells was analyzed by flow cytometry.The adverse production of anti-double strand DNA was detected by indirect immunofluorescent assay.Result:No difference was found in the growth between gene transfected muscle cells and the controls.No anti-double strand DNA antibody was detected .Conclusion:This gene transfer system may not induce growth change and anti-double strand DNA antibody in the transfected cells.

Objective: To determine the relationship of the expression of transforming growth factor ?1(TGF ?1), TGF ?2 and TGF? receptor(T?RⅡ) with the development of squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Methods: 40 cases of OSCC and 20 cases of normal oral mucosa were examined with SABC immunohistochemical staining for the expression of TGF ?1, TGF ?2 and T?RⅡ. Results: Semi quantitative analysis revealed that TGF ?1, TGF ?2 and T?RⅡ were expresed in OSCC and normal oral mucosa. TGF ?1, TGF ?2 were overexpressed in OSCC compared with those in normal oral mucosa, while T?RⅡ expression were reduced. Objective:To investigate the variation of nm23-H1 gene structure and its expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and to study the relationship between nm23-H1 expression and OSCC metastasis to neck lymph nodes.Methods:nm23-H1 gene in the samples of 30 cases of OSCC,7 of normal oral mucous tissue,human OSCC cell line TSCCa and human oral metastatic cancer cell line GNM was extracted and amplified by PCR. PCR products were investegated with SSCP analysis;nm23 m RNA level in the samples was studied by in situ hybridization.The relationship between mRNA expression and metastasis to neck lymph nodes was analyzed statistically.Results： All samples showed no change in nm23-H1 gene structure except deletion in one case of OSCC;7 out of 9 cases with metastasis to neck lymph nodes showed no hybridization signal of nm23-H1 mRNA,however,only 5 were found no nm23-H1 mRNA in 21 cases without metastasis,positive rate of nm23-H1 expression in GNM cells was lower than that in TSCCa (41.2% versus 63.1%);The expression of nm23-H1 gene showed significant negative relationship with neck lymph nodes metastasis (P<0.01);no relationship was found between expression of nm23-H1 gene and cancer pathological classification.Conclusion:The change of nm23-H1 expression doesn't result from the variation of gene structure;the product of nm23-H1 gene probably inhibit OSCC metastasis to neck lymph nodes.

Objective To explore a practicable method for analyzing the cost losses of residents' health impact induced by environmental pollution and evaluate the cost losses of local residents' health impact in arsenic contaminative area. Methods The data on residents' health were obtained in an arsenic polluted area as the basis analysis of economic loss. Additionally, the data on the sizes of local population, GDP, the annual personal income, the annual prevalence of acute diseases, absence due to sickness and patients' nursing care, the annual prevalence of chronic diseases in 1985. Local residents' age specific death rates and sizes of population in 1985-1995 were collected also. 3 mumerable indexes were screened for estimating the cost losses of residents' a health impact in arsenic contaminative area based on the data mentioned above and combined with abridged life table. Results Based on the calculated GDP and personal average income in 1995, the cost losses of residents due to arsenic pollution consisted of 3 sections: the first included GDP losses of 50.52 yuan/(person-year) and personal income loss of 43.71 yuan/(person-year) attributed to the reduced life expretancy of the residents living in arsenic-polluted area. The second was an excess of the annual medical expenditure of 56.30 yuan/(person-year) for residents living in arsenic-polluted area compared with that of control group. The third included GDP loss of 74.14 yuan/(person-year) and income loss of 64.23 yuan/(person' year) attributed to the health life days of residents in arsenic-polluted area during the period of number of working years. The total economic loss of 3 section mentioned above make the total GDP reduction of about 180.96 yuan/(person-year) and average income loss of about 164.27 yuan/(person-year) including excessive medical costs. Conclusion The analytical method could be applied to the estimation of economic loss of environmental pollution-attributable health impact.

Objective To explore the effects of Interleukin 10 (IL 10) on the endothelial damage mediated by inflammatory cytokines in Kawasaki disease (KD).Methods Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were cultured in vitro and the production of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF ?),interleukin 1 beta (IL 1?),interleukin 6 (Il 6) and IL 10 were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The proportion of apoptotic cells in endothelial cells induced by the supernatants of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was detected by Annexin V/PI double staining though flow cytometry.Electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) was used to detect the activity of nuclear factor ?B (NF ?B).Results The level of TNF ?,IL 1?,IL 6 and IL 10 were markedly increased in KD patients and the proportion of apoptotic cells in endothelial cells induced by the cultured supernatants of PBMCs was markedly elevated (38 4?7 8)% compared to (2 8?0 8)% in the control subjects.The apoptosis of endothelial cells induced by the cultured supernatants of PBMCs could be reversed to some degree by anti TNF ?,IL 1? and IL 6 monoclonal antibody (McAb),otherwise could be enhanced (58 6?14 6)% by anti IL 10 McAb.The activity of NF ?B in the activated PBMCs in KD patients was distinctly increased and IL 10 could significantly inhibit the activity of NF ?B,reduce the production of TNF ?,IL 1? and IL 6 and the apoptosis of endothelial cells induced by the cultured supenatants of PBMCs in KD patients.Conclusion IL 10,which can inhibit the activity of NF ?B and the transcription of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF ?,IL 1? and IL 6,acts as an important protective factor in endothelial damage of KD.

Objective To study the correlation between histopathological findings and X-ray appearances of ameloblastomas.Methods X-ray characteristics and histopathological features in 153 cases of ameloblastomas were analyzed retrospectively, and their relation was comparatively analyzed. Results ① On radiography,the lesions appeared as multilocular in 82 cases(53.59) and unilocular in 71 cases(46.41). ② 96 cases were classic ameloblastomas,including follicular type in 13 cases and non-follicular type in 83 cases,X-ray showed unilocular appearance in 35(36.46) and multilocular appearance in 61 cases(63.54).57 cases were unicystic ameloblastoma ,X-ray showed unilocular appearance in 36 cases(63.16) and multilocular appearance in 21 cases(36.84).There was significant diffrence statistically in the X-ray features of uniloculus and multiloculus between the two histopathological patterns(P﹤0.005). Conclusion Unicystic ameloblastomas often have unilocular radiologic appearance,classic ameloblastomas are mostly of multilocular radiologic appearance,while,the honeycomb radiologic appearances are common seen follicular type ameloblastoma.
