1.Effect of integrated control of schistosomiasis in Shashi District from 2009 to 2013

Objective To evaluate the effect of integrated schistosomiasis control in Shashi District from 2009 to 2013 so as to provide the evidence for the development and adjustment of schistosomiasis control strategies. Methods The data of inte-grated schistosomiasis control from 2009 to 2013 were collected and analyzed for the epidemic situations of human livestock and Oncomelania hupensis snails. Results From 2009 to 2013 the infection rates of human and cattle decreased from 2.24%and 1.92% to 0.63% and 0 with decrease rates of 71.88% and 100% respectively the area with snails decreased from 760.40 hm2 to 715.08 hm2 with a decrease rate of 5.69% the occurrence rate of frames with living snails and the average densi-ty of living snails decreased from 26.32%and 0.67 snail/0.1 m2 to 18.30%and 0.53 snail/0.1 m2 with decrease rates of 30.47%and 20.90% respectively. No infected living snails were found from 2012 to 2013. Conclusion The integrated schistosomiasis prevention and control strategies with emphasis on infectious source control could effectively reduce the infection rates of human and cattle as well as the snail situation.
2.An study on significance of clinical scales in diagnosis for pulmonary embolism

Objective To assess diagnostic value of Wells and Geneva seales in patients with suspected pulmonary embolism(PE).Methods Clinical data of 958 consecutive cases of suspected PE admitted to Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital form January 1,1995 to January 1,2009,were analyzed retrospectively,and all patients were assessed with Wells and Geneva scales,respectively for likelihood of PE,as compared to those diagnosed by lung imaging Results Three hundred and forty-seven patients with PE were diagnosed with lung imaging as gold standard,sensitivity,specificity,and positive and negative predictive values for Wells scale and Geneva scale in diagnosis for PE were 82.4%,58.1%,52.8%and 85.3%.and 88.8%,55.3%,53.1%and 89.7%,respectively,with positive and negative likelihood ratios.Youden index and crude agreement of 1.97,0.30,0.41 and 0.21,and 1.99,0.20,0.44 and 0.25.respectively.Area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve of Geneva scale(0.79)was significantly more than that of Wells scale(0.73)(Z=2.25,P<0.05).As compared to Wells scale,sensitivity and specificity for Geneva scale in diagnosis for PE was significantly higher(χ2=7.12 and 6.84,respectively,P<0.05).Conclusions Although there is a considerable gap in accuracy between clinical scales and lung imaging in diagnosis for PE.both Wells and Geneva scales can be used in clinical screening for PE to save unnecessary cost.however,Geneva scale is more practical and accurate than Wells scale,worthwhile to be popularized clinically.
3.Effects of Microfiltration Membrane Adsorption on Detection of Pesticides in Water by Direct Injection Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

Effects of microfiltration membrane adsorption for eight types of pesticides with diverse physicochemical properties on direct injection liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric method ( DI-LC-MS/MS) were investigated. The results showed that the adsorption effects ( AE,%) on the loss of signal detection at concentration of 2. 5 μg/L ranged from 8%-92%, 0%-81% and 2%-59% for nylon (NYL), polyethersulfone ( PES) and hydrophilic polypropylene ( GHP) membrane, respectively ( accumulated volume of feed is 1 mL). The pesticides with higher octanol-water partition coefficient (lgKow) values appeared to adsorb onto the membrane surface more readily than those with lower lgKow. The AE was found to be alleviated as the feed volume of samples increased to 10 mL, except the case of profenofos adsorption on PES membrane ( AE=9%) . The effects of PES membrane on the eight pesticides at initial individual concentration of 0 . 25 , 2. 5 and 25 μg/L were also studied. The results showed that, the lower the initial concentration of pesticides, the stronger adsorption effect under the same filtration conditions was obtained. Besides, it was effective in eliminating the membrane adsorption effects by adding 40% methanol ( V/V) into water samples as a modifier, which could consequently improve the accuracy of DI-LC-MS/MS.
4.Analysis of the diagnosis and treatment of biliary cystadenoma and cystadeno-carcinoma: report of 16 cases

Objective To analyze the clinical features of intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma and cystadenocarcinoma.Methods Sixteen patients from Dec.2008 to Dec.2013 were retrospectively reviewed to investigate their clinical manifestations,image features,treatment and prognosis.Results Intrahepatic biliary systadenoma and occured occurred primarily in middle-aged women with no typical clinical manifestations.Image examination is the key method in diagnosis.Surgery is the only method to cure the disease.The procedure depends on its location,and its prognosis is related to complete surgical resection.Conclusion Intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma and cystadeno-carcinoma is a rare tumor occuring mostly in middle-aged women.Image examination is the key method in diagnosis.Complete surgical resection contributes to its better prognosis.
5.The changes of pulmonary dead space, shunt and gas exchange after thromboembolism of lungs in swine

Objective To investigate the alterations of pulmonary dead space,pulmonary shunt fraction (Qs/Qt) and gas exchange after thromboembolism of lungs in swines and to evaluate the mechanism in respect of pathophysiology and implication.Methods Swine model of pulmonary thromboembolism was made by injection of thrombus into pulmonary artery.Eight swine were used for study of physiologic dead space (VDphy),alveoli dead space (VDalv),airway dead space (VDaw),Qs/Qt,pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP),oxygen partial pressure in arterial blood (PaO2 ),carbon dioxide partial pressure in arterial blood (PaCO2 ),alveolar-arterial O2 gradient (PA-aDO2) determined 30 min before thromboembolism and 0 min,30 min,60 min,120 min after thromboembolism.Results The results showed that VDphy,VDalv,Qs/Qt,PAP,PA-aDO2 increased markedly after thromboembolism in comparison with pre-thromboembolism (P < 0.01 ),while PaO2 declined significantly (P < 0.01 ),and the differences in VDaw and PaCO2 were not significant ( P > 0.05 ).SNK test showed that VDphy and VDalv declined to be smaller at 60 min,120 min than those at 30 min,and PAP declined to be lower at 30 min,60 min,120 min than that at 0 min.Other variables did not change at different intervals after thromboembolism.Hemodynamics did not change significantly after embolization.Conclusions After pulmonary thromboembolism,a various of changes in pathophysiology happened such as increase in dead space,Qs/Qt and PA-aDO2 and decrease in PaO2,but PaCO2 did not change.
6.Experimental study on biodistribution and PET imaging of 3′-deoxy-3′-~(18)F-fluorothymidine in murine model of lung carcinoma

Objective To investigate the biodistribution and positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of 3′-deoxy-3′-~ 18 F-fluorothymidine (~ 18 F-FLT) in a murine model of pulmonary carcinoma, and to evaluate the use of ~ 18 F-FLT as a new PET tracer for diagnosis of pulmonary malignant tumor. Methods 40 T739 mice bearing the pulmonary adenocarcinoma were randomly divided into five groups according to different tracers and time after their injection (n=8/group). The biodistribution of mice for ~ 18 F-FLT was measured with well-gamma detector at 30min, 60min, 90min, 120min after injection via the tail veins. The biodistribution of mice for ~ 18 F-FDG was examined at 60min after injection as controls. In addition, the PET imaging of mice was performed using two tracers. Results In the biodistribution study of ~ 18 F-FLT, considerable radioactive uptake in tumor was observed, and high radioactivity was showed in the kidney and spleen. The T/NT ratios of tumor/blood, tumor/muscle and tumor/lung was all above 2.0. The tumor PET images with ~ 18 F-FLT were clear, as well. Conclusions The uptake of ~ 18 F-FLT in pulmonary adenocarcinoma is higher than that in normal tissues, thus the pulmonary neoplasm could be identified accurately with PET imaging. Our preliminary study of ~ 18 F-FLT in lung carcinoma xenografts is satisfactory, and it provides a basis for further clinical study.

8.LONGEVITY AND PERIODICITY OF MICROFILARIAE OF BRVGIA MALAYI TRANSFUSED TO VARIOUS STRAINS OF LABORATORY MICE

Microfilariae (mff) obtained from the peritoneal cavities of infected jirds (Meriones unguiculatus) were injected intravenously into 6 mouse strains: SMMC/B, BALB/cCR, LACA, ICR/JCL, 615 and Kunming strain. The mff in the peripheral blood of the 6 mouse strains in the above sequence were detectable within 1-150, 24-80, 30-60, 3-96, 12-45 and 45-60 days after inoculation of 2 ? 105 mff per mouse. The survival period of mff was longer in SMMC/B mice than in mice of the other strains, and the density of mff in blood was also higher in the former than in the latter. Out of 18 SMMC/B mice 13 remained microfilaria-positive on the 60th day after inoculation. The duration and level of microfilaraemia were proportional to the dose of parasites injected Microfilariae disappeared from the peripheral blood of all mice 3 days after injection of 1 ?104 mff, but were still detectable 60 days after injection of 2 ? 105 mff. In addition, mff disappeared much faster from the peripheral blood of SMMC/B mice after the second inoculation than after the first one. Although the mff had already disappeared from the peripheral blood of the infected and reinfected mice for about 1 to 2 months, they could still be found in the internal organs, mostly in the small blood vessels of the lungs (about 90%). The mff maintained a nocturnal sub-periodicity in the recipient mice, similar to those observed in the donor jirds, with a peak density hour between 2:28 and 5: 48 a.m.The results show that this mouse model might be a simple and useful system in which various factors controlling the fate of mff can be studied independently.

10.Discussion on Rehabilitation Services for Children with Cerebral Palsy in China
