1.Efficacy of combined treatment of gamma knife and operation in the treatment of bilateral parasagittal meningiomas

Objective To investigate the clinical effectiveness of gamma knife and microsurgery operation for the treatment of bilateral parasagittal meningiomas.Methods Twenty-six patients with bilateral parasagittal meningiomas were operated by microscopy,and the most parts of the tumor was removed.The remains of the tumor were treated with gamma knife.Results All patients were followed up 5 years.The tumors disappeared in 8 cases,reduced in 11 cases,did not change in 5 cases,and recurred in 2 cases.No severe complications occurred after gamma knife treatment.Conclusion Combined treatment of gamma knife and micriosurgery operation are effective for bialateral parasagittal meningiomas.It not only greatly improves the effectiveness,but also reduces the complications and death rate in patients with bilateral parasagittal meningiomas.
2.Study on the Quality Standard of Tongmai Pill

OBJECTIVE:To establish the quality standard for Tongmai pill. METHODS:TLC was used for the qualitative iden-tification of Salvia miltiorrhiza,Angelica sinensis and Carthamus tinctorius. HPLC was used for the content determination of feru-lic acid. The column was Diamonsil C18 with mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.1% aqueous phosphoric acid (17∶83,V/V) at a flow rate of 1 ml/min,the detection wavelength was 316 nm,the column temperature was 30 ℃,and the injection volume was 10 μl.. RESULTS:The TLC of S. miltiorrhiza,A. sinensis and C. tinctorius showed clear spots and good separation. The linear range of ferulic acid was 8-80 μg/ml(r=0.999 8);RSDs of precision,stability and reproducibility tests were lower than 2%;recovery was 97.2%-99.6%(RSD=1.2%,n=6). CONCLUSIONS:The standard can be used for the quality control of Tongmai pill.
3.The Expression and Significance of miR-608 in Ameloblastoma

Objective To study the expression and significance of miR-608 in ameloblastoma (AB).Methods Quantitative stem-loop RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of miR-608 in 26 cases of human AB (AB group) and 17 cases of peritumoural tissues (control group).The differences in miR-608 levels between the control group and the AB groups,namely,primary AB and recurrent AB,were evaluated.In addition,miR-608 levels in AB cases with different clinical and pathological characteristics were compared.Results The expression level of miR-608 in the AB group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05).Additionally,the relative expression level of miR-608 in the primary AB group was significantly lower than that in the recurrent AB group (P < 0.05).There were no significant differences between the miR-608 expression levels with respet to age,gender,or pathological type (P > 0.05).Conclusions The expression of miR-608 in human AB tissue is significantly decreased,which may be related to the recurrence of the tumor.

Basophils have been neglected for a long time as an immune cell.Recently, it gained respect because of its important role in helper T lymphocytes(Th)2 immune response.Basophils are involved in the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma through a variety of possible mechanisms.Basophils can act as initiators initiate and establish Th2 immune response by interacting with dendritic cells; basophils can act as immune regulators, regulate immune cell functions such as type 2 innate lymphoid cells by secreting cytokines such as interleukin 4 to consolidate allergic inflammation; basophils can also act as immune effectors participate in allergic airway inflammation through IgE-depended and non IgE-depended activation.In addition, clinical research is focused on the usage of basophil activation status as possible biomarker in predicting the outcome of allergic disease therapy, which is of great clinic value in individualized management of asthma.
