Objective To observe the microfiltration of different types of ceramic membrane for aqueous extract of Rhizoma Chuanxiong, and to select the optimal type of ceramic membranes. Methods The aqueous extract of Rhizoma Chuanxiong was microfiltered by inorganic ceramic membranes in the pore diameter of 50 nm,200 nm,and 500 nm,respectively. The characters, total solids, and active ingredients of the aqueous extract were analyzed and compared before and after microfiltration. Results The aqueous extract turned into clarified liquid from turbid liquid after microfiltration with the three types of the inorganic ceramic membrane. The removal rate for total solids was 25.7 %,26.5 %and 25.9 %,and the loss rate for ferulic acid was 12 %,6 %and 4 %,respectively for the inorganic ceramic membranes in the pore diameter of 50 nm,200 nm,and 500 nm. Conclusion Both the yield of dry solid material and ferulic acid are stable during the three middle-scale tests, indicating that he aperture ceramic membrane in the pore diameter of 200 nm is a optimal selection for the purification and refining of aqueous extract of Rhizoma Chuanxiong.

Objective To investigate the prevalence status and risk factors of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in old people in pension facilities in Chongqing, China. Methods From October to November, 2015, the people above 60 years old in four pension facilities in Chongqing were cluster sampled. They were interviewed with Mini-Mental State Examination, Instrumental Activity of Daily Living Scale, self-made general situation questionnaire for the elderly and the Geriatric Depression Scale. Results There were 25 MCI patients identified in 84 old people selected, with the prevalence of 29.76%. MCI prevalence was different with the factors such as genders, educational levels, economical status, smoking, eating freshwater fish frequently, participating in outdoor activities frequently, playing Mahjong/chess/cards fre-quently, watching TV/listening to broadcast/reading newspaper frequently, participating in social activities frequently, having religious be-liefs, suffering high blood pressure (χ2>4.271, P<0.05). Based on multivariate Logistic regression analysis, male was the protective factor (OR=0.055, 95%CI:0.005~0.618), while high blood pressure was the risk factor (OR=8.281, 95%CI:1.278~53.646) to the MCI. Conclu-sion MCI is prevalent in old people in pension facilities in Chongqing, which needs intervention targeted to the risk foctors.

OBJECTIVE To study the effects of the compatibility of Schisandra chinensis on Psoralea corylifolia -induced oxidative damage and endoplasmic reticulum stress in L 02 hepatocytes, and to provide reference for clinical use of the compatibility attenuation of P. corylifolia -S. chinensis . METHODS L02 cells were divided into blank control group ,P. corylifolia model group (1 200 μg/mL P. corylifolia ,calculated by crude drug ),P. corylifolia -S. chinensis low-dose,medium-dose and high-dose groups (1 200 μg/mL P. corylifolia combined with 600,1 200,2 400 μg/mL S. chinensis ,respectively, calculated by crude drug ). After the cells in each group were cultured in culture medium or drug solution for 48 hours, the levels of aspartate aminotransferase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase (ALT)were detected ;the levels of glutathione (GSH),superoxide dismutase (SOD)and malondialdehyde (MDA)in cell culture medium were detected ;reactive oxygen species (ROS)level and mitochondrial membrane potential in cells were detected ;mRNA and protein expressions of glucose-regulated protein 78(GRP-78)and protein kinase R-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK)were detected. RESULTS Compared with blank control group ,the levels of AST,ALT,MDA and ROS ,mRNA and protein expressions of GRP- 78 and PERK were increased significantly in P. corylifolia model group (P<0.05 or P<0.01);while GSH and SOD levels ,mitochondrial membrane potential were decreased significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Compared with P. corylifolia model group ,above indexes of P. corylifolia -S. chinensis low-dose, medium-dose and high-dose groups were all improved significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS The compatibility of P. corylifolia -S. chinensis can alleviate P. corylifolia -induced oxidative damage and endoplasmic reticulum stress of L 02 cells.

Objective To investigate the distribution characteristics of Oncomelania hupensis in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, so as to provide insights into the assessment of the risk of schistosomiasis transmission and the scientific formulation of the schistosomiasis surveillance strategy. Methods From 2015 to 2019, a total of 19 national schistosomiasis surveillance sites were assigned in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, including 4 fixed sites and 15 mobile sites. Snail survey was performed by means of systematic sampling in combination with environmental sampling, and the infection of Schistosoma japonicum was detected by the crushing method combined with loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay. Results From 2015 to 2019, snail habitats were detected at areas of 17 040 to 39 527 m2, including 6 214 m2 emerging snail habitats and 16 563 m2 re-emerging snail habitats. The overall mean density of living snails was 0.019 2 snails/0.1 m2 and the occurrence of frames with snails was 1.11% in the national schistosomiasis surveillance sites; however, no S. japonicum infection was identified in snails. The area of snail habitats increased by 121.46% in the national surveillance sites in 2019 as compared to that in 2015; however, 50.34% (Z = −0.422, P > 0.05) and 42.85% (χ2 = 130.41, P < 0.01) reductions were seen in the overall means density of living snails and the occurrence of frames with snails. All snail habitats were distributed in the 4 fixed surveillance sites, and were mainly found in ditches, paddy fields and dry lands, with weeds as the primary vegetation type. Conclusions There are still risk factors leading to re-emergent transmission of schistosomiasis in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, such as local snail spread, and the monitoring of schistosomiasis remains to be reinforced to further consolidate the achievements of schistosomiasis elimination in the region.
