Objective To evaluate the value of haptoglobin (HPT),α1-acid glycoprotein (AAG)and C-reactive protein (CRP) in the differential diagnosis of bacterial and viral infection in children. Methods Serum CRP, AAG and HPT levels were measured in 64 children with bacterial infection and 64 children with viral infection during acute stage. These indicators were also measured in 31 normal control children. The sensitivity ,specificity ,positive and negative predictive values, Youden's index for HPT,AAG and CRP were calculated. These values were compared among three groups. Their early diagnostic value on bacterial infection and virus infection was evaluated. Results (1) These markers were considered positive if HP≥2 g/L,AAG≥2 g/L,CRP≥10 mg/L. (2) The serum CRP [(2.70 ±0.99) g/L vs (1.42 ±0.75) g/L] ,AAG [(0.91 +0.38) g/L vs (0.30+0.08) g/L] and HPT [(6.40 ±0.89) mg/L vs (1.38 +0.80) mg/L]levels were significantly higher in children with bacterial infection compared with those with viral infection during the acute stage (P < 0. 05,P < 0. 01). The serum CRP, AAG and HPT levels were significantly higher in children with bacterial infection compared with normal control children during the acute stage (P < 0. 05);while the levels of these indicators showed no differences between viral infection children and normal control children (P > 0. 05). Conclusion The measurement of serum CRP, AAG and HPT levels has clinical value in the differential diagnosis of bacterial and viral infection in children. Among these indicators, CRP has the highest specificity, positive predictive, negative predictive values and Youden's index.

This paper is aimed to report the development of a method for the determination of the binding rate of plasma protein with salvianolic acid B. In vitro, equilibrium dialysis method was used to imitate the binding process between salvianolic acid B and plasma protein, in vivo, ultrafiltration method was used and the binding rate with HPLC was determined. Plasma samples were treated with methanol to precipitate the protein, and the buffer solution was directly determined after filtering. The calibration curve of the buffer solution was linear in the range of 0.5-20 microg mL(-1). The calibration curve of the plasma was linear in the range of 2-200 microg mL(-1). The extract recovery was 68.6%-81.9%. RSDs of intra- and inter-day precisions were all less than 8.5%. The binding rates of plasma protein with salvianolic acid B in vitro was 75.2% and in vivo was 92.1%. This paper shows the high binding power of salvianolic acid B to plasma protein with high sensitivity, good reproduction, simple management and fulfilling the requirement.

Objective To evaluate the necessity and safety of implanting temporary vena eava fihers to prevent pulmonary emboli in patients of lower extremity fractures concomitant with acute deep venous thrombosis(DVT). Methods A total of 782 patients with lower extremity fractures were complicated with DVT perioperatively. Among them, 91 received temporary vena cava filters implantation before orthopedic operations for the prevention of pulmonary embolism. All patients were followed up post-operation. Results Vena cava filters were successfully implanted in 89 patients. Mean implantation time was 27 days (range from 14 to 42 days). Thrombus trapped within the filters were found in 78 patients (87.6%) after the filters removal. Eight-two filters (92.1%) were retrived successfully at the first attempt as scheduled. Seven filters(7.9%) with big trapped thrombi were removed at the 2nd attempt after additional thrombolytic therapy. No patients needed a permanent filter. No fetal pulmonary embolism (PE) or other major complications were detected during the three to six months follow-ups period. Conclusion Temporary vena cava filter can reduce the incidence and mortality of pulmonary embolism as well as the occurrence of mid- or long-term complications in lower limb fracture patients complicated with DVT.

AIM:To observe the inhibition effect of endostatin ( endostar ) on mice choroidal neovascularization model ( CNV) and compare with the Avastin.
METHODS: Using 532nm laser photocoagulation to establish a mouse model of CNV. We observed the formation of CNV by histopathological examination after 2wk later. Forty successful models of mice were randomly divided into control group (group 1, 10 rats), normal saline group ( group 2, 10 rats ), endostatin group (group 3, 10 rats) and avastin group (group 4, 10 rats) . The drugs were injected into the mice' vitreous after photocoagulation 2wk later. Then 1wk later, we took the mice eyeballs to perform the HE and immunohistochemical staining to observe. The statistical analysis of ANOVA was done by SPSS 16. 0 and the LSD-t test was used for multiple samples, taking P<0. 05 as the test standards.
RESULTS: Two weeks later, HE histopathological examination was done , light microscope showed large amount of new vessels' formation, the positive rate for CNV was 72. 8%. The blank control group compared with the normal saline group P>0. 05, had no inhibitory effect on CNV;endostatin treated group compared with control group, P<0. 05, had a certain inhibitory effect; avastin group compared with the control group, P<0. 05, had an inhibitory effect on CNV; the LSD-t was performed on Avastin group and endostatin group, P<0. 05, which were statistically significant. We thought that the two drugs have different inhibitory effect on mice' CNV, because xAvastin=26. 90 ,xendostatin=29. 13,xAvastin

Objective To investigate the effect of Pingfei Oral Liquid (POL) on the distribution of mast cells (MCs) and the expression of interleukin 6 (IL-6) in the lung tissue of radiation pneumonia rats. MethodsForty-five SD rats were randomized into 3 groups : normal control, model group and POL group. The rat model of radiation lung fibro-sis was set up by a single X-ray dose of 20Gy irradiation over the whole chest of the rats. POL (20 g·kg-1·d-1,once a day, five times a week) was given orally one week before irradiation and the treatment lasted 5 weeks. MCs in the lung tissue were stained with toluidine blue firstly and then were counted 2, 4 and 8 weeks after irradiation. IL-6 protein expression of lung tissue was measured by immunohistochemical assay 8 weeks after irradiation, and mRNA ex-pression was determined with RT-PCR 4 weeks after irradiation. ResultsIt's showed the aggregation of large amount of pulmonary mast cells and increase of IL-6 protein expression 8 weeks after irradiation (P < 0.01).IL-6 mRNA expression in the irradiated lung of rats increased 4 weeks after irradiation (P < 0. 01). POL could reduce the aggrega- tion of MCs (P < 0. 01) and the expression of IL-6 protein (P < 0. 01) and mRNA (P < 0. 05) in the lung tissue. ConclusionPOL can prevent radiation pneumonia in rats by reducing the aggregation of mast cells and inhibiting IL-6 expression in the lung tissue.
