To improve the clinical skills of medical students and to train qualified and profes-sional ophthalmologist, the school of optometry and ophthalmology in Wenzhou Medical College car-ried out reforms and innovations in clinical practice and training. In order to strengthen and train clin-ical thinking and clinical skills, and to cultivate the humanistic qualities of medical students, the di-verse-training mode were applied in clinical practice and training. In this paper explored the design goal, objective and actual effect of diverse-training mode for clinical practice and training.

Bilingual teaching has become an important teaching method in the Higher Medical Education. The major of Optometry and Ophthalmology in Wenzhou Medical College is an organic integration of the modem western optometry and traditional ophthalmology, and also have the advantage of international education background. In the past twenty years,we have made positive practices and explorations in bilingual teaching. In this paper,we will take The Contact Lens Course ( National recconmentation course and National bilingual demonstration course ) for example to share the useful experiences and results, and to set an important model in spreading bilingual teaching for other clinical medicine disciplines.

The multipotent differentiation and immunosuppression capability of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) make it attractive source for stem cell therapy to treat serious diseases, including neural system diseases and immune disorders. For large scale clinical applications, MSCs have to be expanded to produce sufficient quantity for multiple treatments. While conventional passaging is not appropriate for such a task, bioreactor can be used to expand MSCs more efficiently. Yet the efficacy and biosafety of expanded MSCs must be properly assessed before the expanded MSCs can be implanted. This review presented state-of-the-art in expanding MSCs focusing on the progress on the assessment of the efficacy and biosafety of in vitro expanded MSCs. Current obstacles were discussed and future research directions were outlined.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical efficacy of radial artery recurrent branch of the styloid process bone flap transfer for treatment of scaphoid nonunion.
METHODSFrom 2002 to 2007, 18 patients with scaphoid nonunion included 12 males and 16 females with an average age of 31.2 years old ranging from l8 to 51 years. Time from injury to operation was 8 to 26 months (averaged 12.5 months). Radial bone flap blood supply by radial artery recurrent branch of styloid process was embedded in retrograde scaphoid shift distance at both ends, Kirschner wire fixed on the bone flap and bone fractures, and the radial styloid process was resected. Cast gypsum immobilization in a neutral place of wrist were performed for 6 to 8 weeks, the rehabilitation of physical therapy and functional exercise were performed after removal. Kirschner wire were removed after X-ray showed fracture healing.
RESULTSAmong them, 15 cases were followed-up for from 8 to 25 months (means 13 months). All fractures healed. The healing time was 8 to 12 weeks. According to adult forearm fracture evaluation of Anderson the results were excellent in 14 cases, good in 1.
CONCLUSIONThe radial artery recurrent branch of styloid process bone flap has a wealth of blood circulation, can make free grafting of the creeping substitution process directly into the healing process.

Dendrobii officinalis, with a definite effect of nourishing Yin and clearing heat, has been a folk habit for drinking after being mixed with water. Because its superfine powder has the advantages of high dissolution and convenient drinking, we observed the effect of D. officinalis superfine powder on metabolic hypertension model rats and its possible mechanism in this experiment, which can be used as a reference for its clinical application for hypertension. The overeating greasy-induced metabolic hypertension model was established with high-fat, high-sugar and high-purine diet. These rats were orally administered with 400 mg·kg~(-1) and 200 mg·kg~(-1) of D. officinalis superfine powder for 20 consecutive weeks. During this period, blood pressure, blood lipid, blood glucose, insulin and other related indexes of glucose and lipid metabolism were monitored; the levels of lipopolysaccharide(LPS), C-reactive protein(CRP), interleukin 6(IL-6) and other inflammatory mediators were measured; the levels of nitric oxide(NO) and endothelin-1(ET-1) were detected, and the histomorphological and ultrastructural changes of aorta were observed. In addition, the expression of LPS/TLR4 pathway-related molecules in aorta was determined. The results showed that long-term administration of D. officinalis superfine powder significantly reduced the levels of systolic blood pressure(SBP), diastolic blood pressure(DBP) and mean arterial pressure(MBP) in metabolic hypertension model rats, decreased the levels of total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-c), glucose(Glu), and insulin(INS) levels in blood, increased the contents of high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-c),decreased the LPS, CRP, IL-6 and ET-1 levels in blood and increased NO content. Furthermore, it improved the abnormality of aortic histomorphology and endothelial ultrastructure, and inhibited the protein expression of TLR4, myeloid differentiation factor(MyD88), IL-6, interleukin-1 β(IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) as well as mRNA expression of TNF-α and IL-1β in aorta. In conclusion, D. officinalis superfine powder may improve the abnormal function and structure of blood vessels by inhibiting the activation of LPS/TLR4 pathway, thus playing a role against metabolic hypertension.

Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2014;34(1):15-19
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese medicine (CM) intervention in the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) from liver enzyme (ALT), imaging (the liver/spleen CT ratio) and syndrome scores, and to establish standard methods for diagnosis and therapeutic efficacy evaluation with characteristics of CM.
METHODSA multi-center, stratified randomized, parallel controlled, blindness-method evaluated, superiority trial was performed. Totally 204 patients were randomly allocated into two groups, 102 patients in the experimental group (treated with CM) and 102 patients in the control group [treated with Western medicine (WM)]. The alanine aminotransferase (ALT), liver/spleen CT ratio, and clinical symptoms were observed in both groups.
RESULTSOf the randomly allocated 204 cases from 4 hospitals, 3 patients were rejected, and 25 were lost. Totally 176 cases con- formed to the plan with complete follow-ups. After 3 months of treatment, syndrome scores and the improvement of partial clinical symptoms (fatigue and sallow complexion) were superior in the experimental group to those in the control group (P < 0.05). After 3 months of follow-up, the syndrome scores and improvement of partial clinical symptoms (fatigue and sallow complexion) were superior in the experimental group to those in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in improving liver enzymes or the liver/spleen CT ratio between the two groups (P > 0.05). There were 4 adverse reactions/adverse events in the two groups in the process of treatment, mainly covering drug-induced liver injury, diarrhea, and epigastric distension. Adverse reactions had nothing to do with CM treatment.
CONCLUSIONSJianpi Shugan Recipe had obvious efficacy in treatment of NASH. It could remove the liver fat and play a role in anti-inflammation and liver protection. It also could improve the indices of liver enzymes and the liver/spleen CT ratio effectively, which was superior to Polyene Phosphatidylcholine Capsule (PPC) in improving clinical symptoms, especially for such symptoms as fatigue and sallow complexion.
