Girdin protein is a kind of actin binding protein,which has the complex molecular structure and takes part in a variety of signaling pathways related with causing cancer.The biological characteristics of Gir-din protein have close association with the proliferation and invasion of malignant tumor.Recent studies have shown that Girdin protein is closely related with occurrence and progress of breast cancer.Girdin protein expres-sion in breast cancer cells can not only promote the progress of breast cancer,but also affect the lymph node me-tastasis and prognosis.Therefore Girdin protein is expected as an independent biomarker to provide a new direc-tion for breast cancer treatment.

Objective To observe the evaluation of multi‐tumor marker protein chip in breast cancer with neoadjuvant chemo‐therapy ,and to find high saitivity tumor makers ,then evaluate the clinical significance .Methods Forty health examination persons (control group) and sixty‐four breast cancer patients(experimental group) were accepted with multi‐tumor marker protein chip in‐spection ,then we evaluated the markers of diagnosis .The experimental group patients were accepted four cycles preoperative chem‐otherapy with TAC plan ,and tested multi‐tumor marker protein chip three weeks after therapy .Then we evaluated the clinical sig‐nificance of the markers above‐mentioned .Results The positive rate of CA153 ,CA125 ,CEA and FT was 32% ,27% ,21% and 19% in the experimental group ,it indicated significant change compared with the control group (P<0 .05) .And it indicated signifi‐cant reducing change of CA153 ,CA125 and CEA in the experimental group (P<0 .05) after therapy .The sensitivity would be in‐creased when the four markers were tested combined .Conclusion CA153 ,CA125 ,CEA and FT could be used as assistance diagno‐sis index ;CA153 ,CA125and CEA could keep consistence to the curative effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and have clinical value .

Objective To observe the effect of transperineal injection of botulin A toxin on patients with detrusor-external sphincter dyssynergia caused by spinal cord injury. Methods Transperineal injection of botulin A toxin were performed in 6 patients with spinal cord injury (3 with cervical spinal cord injury and 3 with thoraco-lumbar spinal cord injury) complicated by detrusor-external sphincter dyssynergia.55 U of botulin A toxin was injected twice separately. The interval between 2 injections was 3 days.Before treatment, the residual volume of urine after voiding was determined and the maximum urethral pressure was measured by urodynamic testing.One month after treatment the examination mentioned above was repeated. BACKGROUND: Item response theory (IRT) is widely used in the westem world, but its use for non-cognitive measurement has been very limited in China. It is necessary to explore whether IRT is applicable in non-cognitive settings and find the optimal model.OBJECTIVE: To find the optimal IRT model for self-report questionnaire analysis with the instance of emotional competence scale (ECS) and compare the effectiveness of different models in light of model data fitting and the volume of information provision.DESIGN: A comparative study of different psychometric models tested with the same data set.SETTING: Shandong Laiwu Vocational and Technical College; Department of Psychology, Liaoning Normal University.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 617 college students of Shandong Normal University (311 males and 306 females)and 564 senior high school students of the 17 Laiwu High School (283 males and 281females) participated in the study during May 2004.METHODS: Emotional competence scale (ECS) was adopted for psychometric measurement for 5-point Likert-type items. The scale was divided into 9 subscales, namely impulse control, empathy, persistency, interpersonal intimacy, social skills, emotional regulation, emotional stability, sense of responsibility, and self-confidence. One-parameter, two-parameter and three-parameter logistic model and grade response model were used for analysis of the 9 subscales, followed by goodness of fit test (analogous to Chi-square test) and comparison of the measurement precision (reliability)of the three models.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Log-likelihood ratio, average χ2 statistics and average volume of information when one-parameter, two-parameter and three-parameter Logistic model.RESULTS: Totally 1 220 questionnaires were handed out and 1 181 with valid answers were obtained. Comparison of the 3 logistic model showed that the two-parameter logistic model had the least log-likelihood with the least items whose mean square residual error were greater than 2, and the volume of test information was greater than that provided by one-parameter model and no less than the three-parameter model. Therefore, the two-parameter logistic model was the best for 2-point scoring model. But the measurement precision of two-parameter Logistic model was lower than that of multi-grade response model.CONCLUSION: When 2-point items are adopted in self-report questionnaire, 2-parameter logistic model can be applied but not 1- or 3-parameter Logistic models. But when the questionnaire uses items that have more than 2 response grades, the measurement precision can be better than that of 2-point data. Merge of the options for the items may result in lowered measurement precision.

Objective: To detect the expression profile of NDRG1 gene in different tissues and cell lines and explore the relationship of NDRG 1 with liver tissue differentiation and hepatocarcinogenesis. Methods: The expression profiles of NDRG 1 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues, paired noncancerous liver (PNL) tissues, adult normal liver (NL) tissues, baby mouse liver tissues and fetal liver tissues in different developmental stages and cultured cell lines were performed using RT PCR and Northern Blot analysis. Results: Expression of NDRG 1 was significantly up regulated in HCC tissues compared to that of NL tissues and PNL tissues, however, the expressions of NDRG1 in NL and PNL tissues showed no evident difference. In ten cell lines, the highest expression was in the 293T human kidney cell line, the next one in liver cell L02, and the lowest one in the undifferentiated HLE cell line. Expression of NDRG1 in liver tissues enhanced with the development of the baby mouse and human fetus. Conclusion: NDRG 1 is probably related to the liver cell differentiation and is highly expressed in the specific stage of the differentiation. However, it could not be recognized as a marker of differentiation. The high expression of NDRG 1 in HCC indicates that HCC is not just distributed to a simple de differentiation. Much more study is necessary in understanding the comprehensive relationship of the disorder proliferation and differentiation of HCC and the related genes.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the stability of reduced glutathione sodium after mixing with glucose injection (5% or 10%),glucose and sodium chloride injection or 0.9% sodium chloride injection. METHODS:After mixing of reduced glutathione sodium with glucose injection (5% and 10%),glucose and sodium chloride injection,and 0.9% sodium chloride injection,respectively,the 4 mixtures at 0,0.5,1.0,1.5,2.5,3 h after mixing which were stored respectively in 25℃ or 37℃ thermostatic bath were observed in respect of the changes in appearance,pH values,absorbability,contents and the insoluble particles. RESULTS:After mixing of reduced glutathione sodium with glucose injection (5% and 10%),glucose and sodium chloride injection,and 0.9% sodium chloride injection,respectively,the appearance and pH values of the 4 mixtures showed no obvious change,but the contents and the insoluble particles of the 4 mixtures experienced changes of different degree. CONCLUSION:Reduced glutathione sodium is stable in glucose injection (5% or 10%),glucose and sodium chloride injection or 0.9% sodium chloride injection within 2h after mixing.

Diabetic nephropathy ( DN) is one of the complications of diabetes, which is closely related to the pathogenesis of in-flammation. This article summarized the relevant literatures on the correlation between MCP-1 , TNF-α and DN, and the intervention of traditional Chinese medicine with DN. In kidney tissues, oxidative stress and NF-κB-dependent signal pathways induced the increase of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) expression, which could induce macrophage accumulation, proteinuria increase, renal fibrosis and renal clearance capacity decrease, and further leading to kidney damage. The clinical and experimental trails showed tumor necrosis factorαmRNA and protein levels in serum, urine and renal tissues were closely related with DN, which could be used as a bio marker to provide clinical guidance. As the therapeutic targets,MCP-1 and TNF-αcould give a novel insight into the clinical treatment of DN. Some traditional Chinese medicines or monomer could ameliorate DN by inhibiting MCP-1 and/or TNF-α. Thus, further verifi-cation or clinical application of those traditional Chinese medicines is worth trying.
