NGX6 is a recently discovered tumor-suppressor gene,which can inhibit tumor invasion and metastasis via suppressing tumor angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis.The expression of NGX6 gene has nega-tive correlation with many tumors,such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma,lung cancer,colon cancer and so on. Therefore,the measurement of NGX6′s level has a great influence on the prognosis of patients with tumor.

ObjectiveTo examines the difference in illusion of transparency between high and low selfmonitoring individuals in different situations in reference to the experimental paradigm ofdrink recognition by Gilovich(1998 ).MethodsHigh and low self-monitoring individuals (the subjects) were selected by Snyder's Self-Monitoring Scale.Two situations were designed to study the illusion of transparency.One was acquaintance situation,and the other was the stranger situation.Results 1.The differences among the high and low selfmonitoring individuals had influence on the illusion of transparency.In low self-monitoring individuals there was a stronger illusion of transparency being demonstrated among both acquaintance situation (4.53 ± 2.12,2.53 ±2.45; t (16) =4.41,P＜0.05) and stranger situation (4.33 ±2.93,3.11 ±2.89; t (17) =2.11,P=0.05),while in high self-monitoring individuals,there were no illusion of transparency in either situations ( t (12) =0.38,P ＞ 0.05 ; t (22) =1.09,P＞ 0.05 ).2.The level of illusion of transparency in low self-monitoring group among acquaintance situation (2.00 ± 2.17) was higher than high self-monitoring group(0.23 ± 1.87 ),t (28) =2.40,P ＜0.05 ),while there was no difference between two groups in stranger situation (1.22 ±2.46,0.74 ±3.25,t (39) =0.52,P ＞0.05).ConclusinThe differences among the high and low self-monitoring individuals have inlluence on the illusion of transparency.The interactive situations have an influence on the level of illusion of transparency.

Objective To compare the field-matching techniques and dosimetric characteristics in the target area of testicular seminoma including the abdominal and pelvic cavities between direct aperture optimization intensity modulated radiation therapy (DAO-IMRT) and 3D conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT),and to analyse the advantages and disadvantages of DAO-IMRT.Methods DAO-IMRT and 3D-CRT plans were designed with Pinnacle treatment planning system for 7 testicular seminoma patients,and the characteristics of both the irradiation methods were analyzed and evaluated by means of the parameters like dose homogeneity indexes,dose volume histograms and etc.Results DAO-IMRT had the hot and cold volumes in the target areas both significantly smaller than those by 3D-CRT,while the conformity index and homogeneity index superior to those by 3D-CRT.The mean doses (Dmean) by DAO-IMRT of the organs at risk (OAR) except the left femur head were all lower than those by 3D-CRT,aud the V15 values of liver,double kidney,small intestine and rectum by DAO-IMRT were statistically lower than those by 3D-CRT (P＜0.01).3D-CRT had the V5 values of OAR all lower than those by DAO-IMRT,in which the differences of double kidney,small intestine,bladder,left femur head and normal tissues were significant statistically (P＜0.05).The monitor units by DAO-IMRT roughly doubled when compared with those by 3D-CRT,and the difference was also significant (P＜0.01).Conclusion DAO-IMRT with easy operation and high reliability can avoid the connection of fields in the target area of testicular seminoma,and is superior to 3D-CRT in dosimetry.

Objective To summarise the experience of surgical treatment of invasive pulmonary fungal infection in patients with hematologic malignancies.Methods From Jan.2000 to Dec.2012,78 hematologic patients with invasive pulmonary fungal infections,including 49 males and 29 females with average age of 29.6 years,underwent surgical treatment.Preoperatively,all patients with 1 to 3 courses of chemotherapy had received average 4 weeks antifungal treatment.There were 58 cases received conventional open thoracic surgery and 20 cases received VATS including lobectomy,segmentectomy,wedgectomy.Results The procedures were successful,the average operation time w as(125.3 ± 35.7) min and intraoperative blood loss was(253.1 ± 42.8) nl.There were no severe postoperative complications.The main complications were excessive effusion (10.2％) and persistence airleak (7.7％).The hospital days was(7.8 ± 2.5) days,no reoperation and death case in 30 days after operation.The follow-up was from 6 to 24 months,38 cases(48.7％) received prophylaetic antifungal treatment,no ease with fungi spread and recurrence.Conclusion The surgical treatment is safe and useful for the hematologic patients with invasive pulmonary fungal infections,when internal medicine conservative treatment is invalid.

BACKGROUND:Previous studies have demonstrated that hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) gene transfection can improve the effectiveness of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel transplantation, but the mechanism is stil unclear. OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of HGF gene transfection on c-MET, Bax, Bcl-2, Caspase-3 of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s cultured under hypoxia and serum-free conditions. METHODS:(1) Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s were isolated and amplified in vitro by differential adhesion method. The infection efficiency of recombinant adenovirus Ad-HGF in bone marrow mesechymal stem cel s was tested by x-gal staining. (2) Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s were cultured under hypoxia and serum-free conditions for 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 hours. RT-PCR and western blot assays were used to evaluate the expression of Bax, Bcl-2, Caspase-3. (3) Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s were cultured under hypoxia and serum-free conditions for 6 hours, and RT-PCR and western blot assays were adopted to detect HGF, c-Met, Bax, Bcl-2 and Caspase-3. (4) Cel scratch test was used to detect the effect of HGF transfection on the migration of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s cultured under hypoxia and serum-free conditions for 6 hours. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Transfection efficiency of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s was increased with multiplicity of infection in a dose-dependent manner. When the multiplicity of infection was 150, the transfection efficiency was 96.4%. (2) Expressions of Bax and Bcl-2 were gradual y increased with hypoxia time (P<0.05). The Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and Caspase-3 expression reach the minimum at 6 hours of hypoxia (P<0.05). (3) Compared with the control and Ad-LacZ groups, the expressions of HGF, c-Met, Bcl-2 increased, and the expressions of Bax and Caspase-3 decreased in the Ad-HGF group after 6 hours of culture under hypoxia and serum-free conditions (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the control and Ad-LacZ groups. (4) The mobility of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s was higher in the Ad-HGF group than the control group and Ad-LacZ groups after 6 hours of culture under hypoxia (P<0.05). These findings indicate that transfection of HGF in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s can increase the expression of c-Met, Bcl-2 and decrease the expression of Bax, Caspase-3 under hypoxia and serum-free conditions, which also enhance the mobility of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s under hypoxia and serum-free conditions.

BACKGROUND:Adrenomedulin gene transfection can strength the anti-apoptotic ability of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels under ischemia and hypoxia, but its mechanism is not yet clear.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of adrenomedulin on the expression of apoptosis-related proteins, Bax, Bcl-2 and Caspase-3, in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels under hypoxia and ischemia.
METHODS:Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels of Sprague-Dawley rats were isolated, cultured and purified, and then cultured in serum-free medium under hypoxic condition for 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 hours. Then, western blot assay was employed to detect the expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and Caspase-3 so as to determine the optimal hypoxia time that was determined at 6 hours of hypoxia. Depending on whether adrenomedulin pretreatment was done, the cels were divided into control group (with no adrenomedulin pretreatment before hypoxia and ischemia) and adrenomedulin groups with different concentrations (1, 10, 100 μg/L). Afterwards, the expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and Caspase-3 was detected by using western blot assay.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) After cultured in serum-free medium under hypoxia for 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 hours, the expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and Caspase-3 in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels were increased (P < 0.05);at 6 hours of hypoxia, the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and Caspase-3 expression reached the minimum value (P < 0.05). (2) At 6 hours of hypoxia, the expression of Bax and Caspase-3 protein as wel as Bax/Bcl-2 ratio became the lowest in the 100 μg/L group compared with the 1 and 10 μg/L groups, but the expression of Bcl-2 protein reached the peak (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that adrenomedulin can reduce the expression of Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and Caspase-3 protein in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels cultured in serum-free medium under hypoxic conditions, which is in a dose-dependent manner.

Objective To explore the significance of mediastinum drainage tube in prevention and treatment of intrathoracic anastomotic leak after esophagectomy. Methods The morbidity and prognosis of intrathoracic anas-tomotic leak after esophagectomy in 180 patients with esophageal or cardia carcinoma (group A) who used mediasti-num drainage tube in operation from 2006 to 2008 was studied retrospectively,and were compare with 154 patients (group B) without mediastinum drainage tube from 2004 to 2006. Results The morbidity of intrathoracic anasto-motic leak after esophagectomy was 1.67% (3/180) in group A,and 4.55% (7/154) in group B,but no difference between them(χ2=1.4807, P>0.05) were found. Compared to group B, the final diagnosis of anastomotic leak in group A was early [(6.7±0.6) vs (10.0±2.1) days after operation (t=2.62, P<0.05)] and the duration of fe-ver was short [(5.3±1.5)vs (43.0±20.9) hours (t=4.39, P<0.01)]. The prognosis of 3 cases in group A was well, who all recovered without operation and had shorten hospital days than group B [(23.7±5.9)d vs (45.3± 5.0)d,t=4.86,P<0.01)]. In 7 cases of group B,there were 5 cases underwent second operation,but only 3 cases recovered, the case fatality rate was 2.60% (4/154), higher than in group A (0, Fisher, P<0.05). Conclusions Although the mediastinum drainage tube used or not used in esophagectomy is unrelated with the occurrence of anas-tomotic leak, and the significance to use it is that it can help to discover anastomotic leak early, and control mediasti-num infection effectively without reoperation,and improve patients' prognosis.

Objective To observe the temperature-time curve of Shenque(CV8) salt moxibustion and explore the temperature starting mechanism of Shenque moxibustion and itsclinical significance.Method In the subjects treated with Shenque salt moxibustion, periumbilical and umbilical bottom temperatures were measured simultaneously and recorded using a two-channel temperature logger, and the temperature-time curve was drawn and analyzed to preliminarily explore its temperature starting mechanism according to the experimental results.Result Periumbilical temperaturemeasurement showed that the temperature that every cone of moxa produced reached more than 43℃and the maximum temperature reached 44.9℃. The time that 43℃or more lasted was (4.50±2.36) min. The time that 40℃or more lasted was (8.03±2.63) min. Umbilicalbottom temperature measurement showed that the temperature reached more than 43℃at the seventh cone of moxa on average and the maximum temperature reached 44.7℃. The mean value of the maximum temperatures at the seventh to tenth cones of moxa was (43.44±1.05)℃. The time that 43℃or more lasted was (5.53±2.13) min. The time that 40℃or more lasted was(18.44±10.39) min.Conclusion Shenque salt moxibustion has the property of repeated warm stimulations, which can avoid the platform period brought about by stable warm stimulation and promote the maximization of moxibustion intensity to effectively increase clinical moxibustion quantity finally.
