Objective: This article combined the methods of quantitative and qualitative research to probe Luxun’ personality characteristics. Methods: Elevn Literature college teachers of Hunan normal university evaluated Luxun’ personality characteristics used the Adjective Checklist of Personality. Results: 29 adjective words were selected as fit Luxun’s personality.Cluster analysis to this 29 words showed that they may be grouped into three types: "Independently striving to improve","Self-respect and stubborn","lonely and radicalization".The method of psychobiographical analysis to Luxun’ personality showed that the childhood experience, solution to identity crisis had great influention on the development of Luxun’s personality. Moreover, through applying the Psychoanalysis,we inferred that Luxun has inferiority complex. Conclusion: Luxun’s personality’s development were influenced by many factors, like childhood experience, family’s status, his social experience and enrironment and so on.

Objective To evaluate factors influencing long-term survival of biliary atresia patients receiving Kasai procedure and the prevention and treatment of surgical complications. Methods Among 97 biliary atresia patients undergoing Kasai or Suruga operation from Mar 1989 to Mar 1999, 35 cases have survived over five years. These 35 cases were classified intraoperatively into type Ⅱ (4 cases) and type Ⅲ (31 cases).Procedures included hepaticojejunostomy (12 cases), Suruga operation (hepaticojejunostomy with a jejunal fistula in 21 cases), hepaticocystomy (2 cases).Six patients underwent second hepaticojejunostomy because of porta hepatis obstruction. Results (1) Eighteen patients suffered from early cholangiolitis, and four cases developed late cholangiolitis, 5-8 years after closing the ascending stoma.(2) Five cases presented upper digestive tract hemorrhage caused by portal hypertension.(3) All patients were followed up from 5 to 15 years with 2 deaths. Conclusion Conventional surgical procedures still take important part in treating biliary atresia before liver transplantation is popularized.Factors influencing long term survival of patients receiving Kasai′s operation include age at operation, pathological classification of extrahepatic bile duct, with or without cholangitis after operation, and portal hypertension.

Objective To research the influence of hypoxic preconditioning in anti-oxidative ability of brain tissues and neurological functions in rats after traumatic brain injury. Methods Forty eight adult male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group, hypoxic preconditioning group (HPC),traumatic brain injury group (TBI) and hypoxic preconditioning+traumatic brain injury group (HPCT,n=12).The HPC rat models were made by hypobaric chamber for 3 d (50 kPa,3 h/d) and TBI were induced by Feeney's improved equipment. All rats were killed 24 h after injury, and the neurological functions of each group were evaluated by modified neurologieal severity scale (mNSS);the neuronal survival around contusion area was detected by NeuN immunohistochemical staining, and the protein and mRNA expressions of nuclear transcription factor-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and thioredoxin reductases 2 (TrxR2) in the brain tissues were detected by Western blotting and real-time quantitative PCR.Results The mNSS scores in the TBI and HPCT groups were significantly higher as compared with those in the sham-operated and HPC groups (P<0.05),but those in the HPCT group was significantly lower than those in the TBI group (P<0.05).The neuronal survival in the TBI and HPCT groups was decreased as compared with that in the sham-operated and HPC groups (NeuN expressions:0.274±0.033,0.281±0.042 vs 0.124±0.014,0.150±0.019),with significant difference (P<0.05),while that in the HPCT group was statistically increased as compared with that in the TBI group (P<0.05).The expressions of Nrf2 and TrxR2 in the brain tissues of TBI and HPCT groups were significantly increased as compared with those in the sham-operated and HPC groups (P<0.05),and those in the HPCT group was significantly up-regulated as compared with those in the TBI group (P<0.05).Conclusion HPC can increase the anti-oxidative ability and relieve the neurological functions missing after TBI.

OBJECTIVES:
Platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) has recently been investigated as a new inflammatory marker in many inflammatory diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus and immunoglobulin A vasculitis. However, there were very few reports regarding the clinical role of PLR in patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) associated vasculitis. This study was thus undertaken to investigate the relationship between inflammatory response and disease activity in Chinese patients with myeloperoxidase-anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (MPO-ANCA) associated vasculitis. Furthermore, we evaluated whether PLR predicts the progression of end stage of renal disease (ESRD) and all-cause mortality.
METHODS:
The clinical, laboratory and pathological data, and the outcomes of MPO-ANCA associated vasculitis patients were collected. The Spearman correlation coefficient was computed to examine the association between 2 continuous variables. Cox regression analysis was used to estimate the association between PLR and ESRD or all-cause mortality.
RESULTS:
A total of 190 consecutive patients with MPO-ANCA associated vasculitis were included in this study. Baseline PLR was positively correlated with CRP (r=0.333, P<0.001) and ESR (r=0.218, P=0.003). PLR had no obvious correlation with Birmingham Vasculitis Activity Score (BVAS). Patients having PLR≥330 exhibited better cumulative renal survival rates than those having PLR<330 (P=0.017). However, there was no significant difference in the cumulative patient survival rates between patients with PLR≥330 and those with PLR<330 at diagnosis (P>0.05). In multivariate analysis, PLR is associated with the decreased risk of ESRD (P=0.038, HR=0.518, 95% CI 0.278 to 0.963). We did not find an association between PLR with all-cause mortality using multivariate analysis (HR=1.081, 95% CI 0.591 to 1.976, P=0.801).
CONCLUSIONS
PLR is positively correlated with CRP and ESR. Furthermore, PLR may independently predict the risk of ESRD.

Protein-RNA interaction networks are essential to understand gene regulation control. Identifying binding sites of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) by the UV-crosslinking and immunoprecipitation (CLIP) represents one of the most powerful methods to map protein-RNA interactions in vivo. However, the traditional CLIP protocol is technically challenging, which requires radioactive labeling and suffers from material loss during PAGE-membrane transfer procedures. Here we introduce a super-efficient CLIP method (GoldCLIP) that omits all gel purification steps. This nonisotopic method allows us to perform highly reproducible CLIP experiments with polypyrimidine tract-binding protein (PTB), a classical RBP in human cell lines. In principle, our method guarantees sequencing library constructions, providing the protein of interest can be successfully crosslinked to RNAs in living cells. GoldCLIP is readily applicable to diverse proteins to uncover their endogenous RNA targets.
