Objective:To study the bone-conductivity and absorbability of nano-hydroxyapatite/collagen(nHAC) composite implanted under the calvarial periosteum in rabbits.Methods:24 nHAC samples and 24 HA samples were prepaired in the shape of round disk with the diameter of 8 mm and thickness of 3 mm.nHAC samples were implanted under calvarial periosteum on the left side and HA samples on the right of 24 rabbits.The bone-conductivity and absorbability of the samples were examined by new bone height measuring and residual implant materia measuring 2,4,8 and 12 weeks after operation. Objective 99Tcm-ciprofloxacin(Infecton)and 99Tcm-HIgG are both radiopharmaceuticals for inflammation and infectious disease imaging.It was reported that99Tcm-ciprofloxacin (Infecton)Was able to distinguish inflammation from infection.while 99Tcm-HIgG was a nonspecific agent.The study Was designed to compare the in vivo characteristics between 99Tcm-ciprofloxacin(Infecton)and 99Tcm-HIgG in rabbit model of inflammation.Methods Eight rabbits were grouped as inflammation model(the first group).infection model(the second group),concomitant inflammation and infection model(the third group),and control(the fourth group)groups.A total of 185 MBq(0.5 m1)99Tcm-ciprofloxacin(Infecton)Was administered intravenously to each rabbit.a serious dynamic images were acquired till 24 h post-injection.Repeated examination with99Tcm-HIgG was carried out 2 d later.Resuits 99Tcm-ciprofloxacin(Infecton)scan was negative in the inflammation models and controls.and was positive in the infection models.In the third group99Tcmciprofloxacin(Infecton)showed infection focus in the left thigh but negative uptake at inflammation focus in the right thigh.99Tcm-HIgG scan were positive in all models.The optimal image time for99Tcm-ciprofloxacin(Infecton)was 3 h after administration.but positive image could still be observed 24 h later.Conclusion 99Tcm-ciprofloxacin(Infecton)appears to specifically accumulate in the infective lesion.

Objective To investigate the incidence and trend of colorectal cancer in Wenling City of zhejiang Province from 2006 to 2011.Methods The date of colorectal cancer cases were collected from the tumor registersystem.The incidence rates,time trend and regional distributionof colorectal cancer were analyzed.Results The overall incidence of colorectal cancer in Wenling City was rising.The annual average incidence was 22.67/105.The incidence of colorectal cancer both in man and woman were increased with age,especially in ages between 55 and 75.The incidence of colorectal cancer was highest in city,followed in fringe area and lowest in rural.But the average annual growth rate was highest in rural.Conclusion The incidence trend of colorectal cancer is rising in Wenling City.Control measures of colorectal cancer according to the risk factors should be given,especially in rural area.

Objective Investigate the clinicopathological characteristics of h?rthle cell tumors of the thyroid. Methods Sixteen cases of HCT were studied by the clinicopathological study and immunohistochemical and review of the literature. Results There were 13 cases of h?rthle cell adenomas, 5 h?rthle cell follicular carcinomas. Immunostains showed that almost all benign and malignant HCT expressed TG, vimentin, S-100 protein. Conclusions HCT is a potential malignant tumor with a defined pathologic feature. It should be follow up for a longer time to their biological behaviors. To distinguish between the benign and the malignant depends on traditional encapsulation, and whether there is a blood vessel invasion or metastasis.

BACKGROUND:Occlusal stimulation is essential for mandible function and remodeling, but there is stil a lack of clear understanding about the effect of occlusal stimulation on the bone remodeling in the process of bone defect repair using bone grafts. OBJECTIVE:To analyze the possible regulative effect of occlusal stimulation on bone remodeling in the process of bone defect repair using colagen substitutes. METHODS:Standard models of bone defects were respectively established in left mandible and parietal bone area of adult Sprague-Dawley rats. Then the bone defects area were filed with colagen and bone meal. The differences of two bone defects areas were observed by X-ray, hematoxylin-eosin staining, Gomori staining, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase staining and bone morphogenetic protein 2 immunohistochemical staining at the 12th week after operation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: New bone formation was visible in the bone defect regions of the mandible and parietal bone. The amount of lamelar bone formation and the degree of mineralization of the new bone were significantly increased in the parietal bone defect compared with the mandibular bone defect area, indicating the bone remodeling in the parietal bone defect area was better than that in the mandible bone defect area. The integral absorbance values of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase and bone morphogenetic protein 2 in the parietal bone defect area were lower than those in the mandibular bone defect area, indicating that the viabilities of osteoblasts and osteoclasts in the parietal bone defect area were lower than those in the mandible bone defect area. These results demonstrate that occlusal stimulation may delay the bone remodeling during the repair of mandibular bone defects by regulating bone mineralization and maturation.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical effects of plate and xenogenic bony plate for the treatment of nonunion of femoral shaft fracture after initial fixation with locked intramedullary nailing.

METHODSFrom February 2006 to June 2013, 21 cases with nonunion of femoral shaft fracture after initial fixation with locked intramedullary nailing were treated with femoral plate and contralateral xenogenic bony plate. There were 12 males and 9 females with an average age of 34.8 years old (ranging from 18 to 62 years). The time of nonunion was 9 to 18 months (averaged 12.8 months). The clinical outcomes of the treatment were evaluated by Merchan assessment.

RESULTSAll of the patients were primary healing, and on complications such as infection,fat embolism, internal fixation breaking or rotational deformity, shortening were occurred. All the cases were followed up for 13.2 months (ranging from 8 to 24 months). Nineteen cases were bone healed,the time of union averaged 6.2 months (ranging from 4 to 9 months). Two cases appeared delayed union and gained bony union after 7 to 13 months' observation. According to the criterion of Merchan,the results were excellent in 13 cases, good in 6 cases, poor in 2 cases.

CONCLUSIONTreatment of nonunion of femoral shaft fracture after initial locked intramedullary fixation with plate and xenogenic bony plate has advantages of high curative rate and low complications, good postoperative function recovery, it is a reliable treatment to elevate the stability of fixation and promote the osteogenesis.

Objective To investigate the effects of electroacupuncture on cell apoptosis(CA)and the ex- pression of insulin like growth factor 1(IGF_1)in the hippocampal CA1 region of rats'brains after cerebral ischemic- reperfusion(CIR).Methods Middle cerebral artery obturation(MCAO)was established by the suture embolic method.CA and the expression of IGF_1 in the hippocampal CA1 region were detected by immunohistochemical meth- ods and TUNEL staining,respectively.Results Compared with those in the normal and sham operation groups, apoptotic cells were significantly increased in the hippocampal CA1 region of the model group(P＜0.01),while the expression of IGF_1 was slightly enhanced and plasma staining was also slightly positive(P＜0.05).Apoptotic cells in the CA1 region in the electroacupuncture group were obviously fewer in comparison with the normal group(P＜0.01),while the expression of IGF_1 was distinctly increased and the plasma staining was also obviously positive(P＜0.01).Conclusion Electroacupuncture treatment has preventive and therapeutic effects on ischemia-reperfusion injury,and its mechanism might be related with up-regulating the expression of IGF_1 and inhibiting CA.

AIM:To discuss the effect of Shenmai injection on insulin resistance ( IR) in 3T3-L1 cells and its mechanisms.METHODS:3T3-L1 preadipocytes were induced by chemical reagents to differentiate into fully differentiated adipocytes.Oil red O staining was used to detect the differentiation level of the adipocytes .The insulin-resistant 3T3-L1 cell model was demonstrated using insulin , which was confirmed by glucose concentration in cell supernatant .The IR cell model was given 10 μmol/L rosiglitazone , 25 and 50 g/L Shenmai injection and normal saline for comparison .MTT assay was used to assess the cell activity of 3T3-L1 cells which was treated with drugs for 8, 16, 24 and 36 h.Glucose oxidase method was used to detect the glucose concentration in the cell supernatant at 8, 16 and 24 h.The protein levels of glucose transporter-4 (GLUT4), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), AKT and p-AKT were determined by Western blot .RE-SULTS:3T3-L1 adipocytes were successfully induced as shown by the positive oil red O staining .The IR cell model was demonstrated , and glucose concentration in the cell supernatant after treatment with Shenmai injection showed that Shenmai injection reduced the IR in 3T3-L1 cell model.The protein levels of GLUT4, PI3K and p-AKT increased compared to con-trol group.CONCLUSION:Shenmai injection reduces the IR in 3T3-L1 cell model, which functions by increasing the protein levels of GLUT4, PI3K and p-AKT.

BACKGROUND: There is a close relationship between innervations and bone formation and bone mass maintenance in the extraction sockets. OBJECTIVE:To study the possible effect of denervations on the regulation of new bone formation and bone mass maintenance in the extraction sockets. METHODS:The unilateral inferior nerve of dogs was sectioned to establish an animal denervation model. The normal side was used as control. After model establishment, the premolars of denervated side and normal side were extracted. Histological method was used to test new bone formation and bone mass maintenance in the extraction sockets at the 2nd, 4th, 8th and 12th weeks after tooth extraction. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The percentage of new bone areas in the extraction sockets was significantly lower in the experiment group than the control group at weeks 2, 4, 8 after tooth extraction (P < 0.01). The height difference between the buccal and lingual alveolar ridge was higher in the experimental group than the control group at weeks 2, 4, 8, 12 after tooth extraction (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). These findings indicate that denervation is closely related with new bone formation and bone mass maintenance in the extraction sockets.

Background The establishment of diabetic animal model is a crucial step for the study about diabetic eye diseases. At present,the main modeling method include the injection of streptozotocin and alloxan. But the shortcoming of the former is an expensive price, and that of the later is high death rate of animals. Objective This experiment was to discuss the way which decrease the death of alloxan-injected animal and explore the effects of high blood glucose on the posterior capsular opacification (PCO). Methods Forty clean healthy male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into 2 groups. 90mg/kg of alloxan were injected via ear vein once in 20 rabbits to create the diabetic animal models,and the equivalent amount of normal saline solution was injected at the same way as normal blood glucose group. The successful models were selected in the animals with the blood glucose level over 12. 0 mmol/L two weeks later, and PCO of lens were graded based on the method of Odrieh under the slit lamp. Extracapsular lens extraction was then performed on the right eye of rabbits in both groups, and the posterior capsules were obtained from these eyes at the 6th, 10th and 14th days after operation. The expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen ( PCNA ) in posterior capsular lens epithelial cell was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The modeling successful rate was 70% after injection of alloxan. The body weight of rabbits in high blood glucose group was significantly lowed and the blood glucose was significantly elevated in comparison with normal blood glucose group ( all P<0. 05). Two weeks after surgery ,2 eyes occurred 2 grade of PCO and only one eye showed the 1 grade of PCO in the high blood glucose group. However, 1 grade of PCO was found in 3 eyes in the normal blood glucose group. Biopsy revealed that PCNA was positively expressed in the cell nuclei of LECs in high blood glucose group rather than the normal blood glucose group from the 10th day after surgery. The proliferation index of PCNA was 0. 86±0. 04 and 0. 25±0. 03 respectively in high blood glucose group and normal blood glucose group, showing a significant difference between them (t = -16. 171 ,P = 0. 000). Conclusion Stable diabetic models of rabbits can be created by intravenous injection of 90 mg/kg alloxan. High blood glucose level is one of the important factors for the development of PCO.
