Journal of Interventional Radiology 2014;(6):474-476
Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of combination use of diltiazem and nitroglycerin in preventing radial artery spasm in performing coronary angiography via radial artery access. Methods During the period from Dec. 2012 to June 2013 at authors’ hospital, coronary angiography via radial artery access was carried out in a total of 200 patients. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups: nitroglycerin group (n = 100) and combination group (n = 100). After successful placement of catheter sheath 200 μg of nitroglycerin was injected through the sheath in the patients of the nitroglycerin group, while 200 μg of nitroglycerin together with 2 mg diltiazem was injected through the sheath in the patients of the combination group. The heart rate , blood pressure and electrocardiogram were recorded with an electrocardio-pressure monitor before the injection as well as at 2, 5, 15 and 30 minutes after the injection. The occurrence of radial artery spasm and patient ’s general condition were also under observation. Results Radial artery spasm occurred in 5 patients of the combination group , while it occurred in 13 patients of the nitroglycerin group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). No significant difference in heart rate and electrocardiogram existed between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion For the coronary intervention via radial artery access , combination use of diltiazem and nitroglycerin can more effectively prevent the occurrence of radial artery spasm. Besides , combination use of diltiazem and nitroglycerin has no obvious effect on the heart rate , the blood pressure and the electrocardiogram.

Liu Tea (Sibiraea angustata) at doses of 8.5 and 15.0g/kg ig coild redice TG, ?-LP, TC and elevate HDL-C levels of normal of normal or hyperlipoidemia rat. In vitro experiments indcated that S.angustata may promote the eatabolism of FFA. The contents of FFA in rat serum showed significant elevation in S. angustata treated groups as compared with the control. In addition, fat cells were smaller in S. angustat treated rats and mucoid changes could be seen under microscope. These results suggested that S. angustat could iegulate the metabolism of lipoid.

Objective To study the relationship between analgesic effect of total alkaloids in Papaver nudicaule(TAPN) and prostaglandins(PGs) with opium receptors. Methods The analgesic effect of TAPN was studied by hot-plate, writhing,electric-evoked methods of mice. The analgesic mechanisms of TAPN and PGs with opium receptors were studied by the writhing numbers induced by different substances(Ach,AA,MgSO_4),the PGE_2 level in celiac fluid in mice after treated by AA writhing test and the antagonistic experiment of Naloxone. Results The inhibitory effect of TAPN on the writhing induced by Ach and AA in mice was stronger than that induced by MgSO_4.TAPN could also lower the PGE_2 level in celiac fluid. In the antagonistic experiment of Naloxone,no antagonism to the analgesic effect of TAPN had been found by ip or icv Naloxone. Conclusion It may be the mainly peripheral analgesic mechanism that TAPN could lower the PGE_2 level in celiac fluid. Its central analgesic mechanisms are not related to opium receptors.

Objective To introduce a new design of interlocking system which is easy in use, makes the distal fracture fragments well aligned and rigidly fixated, reduces exposure to radiation for the surgeon and patient, and allows for a decrease in operating time. Methods The new interlocking system was designed to be a self-locking nail with bevels (b-SLN). According to the bevel principle, the axial force of the nail should be turned into a transverse force so as to control the transverse nail's movement. 10 dry-bone simples were made into the fracture model of the middle-femur to test the prototype nail. The retention of the nail in the intramedullary cavity was evaluated by the radiogram. The mechanical properties of a simulated model of single leg loading were tested on the instron-1342 type MTS. Results The prototype nail performed well as designed. The process was stable and reliable. The retention in the intramedullary cavity was fine. The shearing force between the transverse nail and main nail was enough to cut anything around them. The mechanical properties of b-SLN were similar to those of the Grosse-Kempf nail, better than auto fork compress locked intramedullary nail, and much better than MHUA nail and Ender's nail. Conclusions The structure of b-SLN is simple and reliable. There is no focus-point under stress. Its biomechanic properties are satisfactory. It is easy to use with no need of fluoroscopes in the operating theatre.

BACKGROUND: Pancreatic stem cells can be differentiated into endocrine functioning cells under a suitable cultivation condition, suggesting that pancreatic stem cells can be used as a new source of islet in treating diabetes mellitus.OBJECTIVE: To discuss the expression of stem cell in different purities of pancreatic islets.DESING: A controlled observation based on cells.SETTING: Third People's Hospital of Mianyang City.MATERIALS: The experiment was conducted in the Center Laboratory (Key Laboratory of Chongqing City), the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from March 2005 to March 2006. Thirty healthy male SD rats, of clean grade, aged 50 days were used in this study. During the experiment, the disposal of animals corresponded to Animal Ethical Standard. Cytokeratin (CK)-19 and β-actin were designed by Shanghai Invitrogen Biological Co., Ltd.Brdu reagent, mouse anti-rat Brdu monoclonal antibody, rabbit anti-mouse (RAM) CK-19 polyclonal antibody and Brdu immunohistochemical kit were from Boster Co., Ltd. (Wuhan); HistostainTM -DS double immunohistochemical staining kit was purchased from Beijing Zhongshan Company.METHODS: Rats were intraperitoneally injected with Brdu for labeling, and subjected to perfusion with Ⅴ-type collagenase via pancreatic ducts, with pancreas being excised, ripped, beaten up, digested and centrifuged to obtain pancreatic islet sediments. After being precipitated, the sediments were divided into 3 groups. Group A: The isolated sediments of islets were not purified; Group B: The sediments were added slowly with 25% Ficoll-400 and Hanks solution for purification; Group C: The sediments were slowly added with 25% Ficoll-400, 11% Ficoll-400 for purification in order.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Expressions of Brdu and CK-19-positive cells in the islet samples were detected by immunohistochemical method, and mRNA expression of CK-19 in the different purities of islets was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS: ① The purity of islets in the group A was the lowest. The purity of islets obtained by different purification techniques showed significances among the three groups (F =89.42, P < 0.05). ②Positive expressions of Brdu and CK-19 in the group A were significantly higher than those in the group B and group C (F =18.64, 22.12, 38.61. P <0.01). ③Expression of CK-19 mRNA in the group A was significantly higher than that in other groups, with group C showing the lowest.CONCLUSION: Expressions of Brdu and CK-19-positive cells exist in different purities of islets, suggesting the existence of more stem cells in the low purify of islets.

Objective To study the analgesic sites and mechanism of total alkaloids in Papaver nudicaule (TAPN). Methods The sites of analgesic action of TAPN were observed by adopting Formalin test and two different routes of intracerebroventricular (icv), intrathecal (ith) in mice and rats and comparing ED 50 of TAPN in writhing reaction in mice induced by acetic acid by ip and iv administration. Results TAPN significantly lowered pain score of the early and late phase of Formalin response and was more sensitive in the late phase. Inhibition of TAPN at the same dose by ip administration in writhing reaction in mice induced by acetic acid was stronger than that by iv. The ED 50 value of TAPN at any time by ip administration was lower than that by iv administration. By means of central microinjection, TAPN by icv administration induced remarkable analgesic effect in mice, but TAPN by ith administration had no significant analgesic effect. Conclusion The sites of analgesic action of TAPN are mainly at periphery. TAPN has also central analgesic effect, and the site may be at the level above the spinal cord.
