Objective To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of orbital decompression for compressive optic-neuropathy. Methods Fourteen eyes of twelve cases with Graves opthalmopathy and compressive optic-neuropathy undergone two orbital walls decompression with the follow-up period of more than 3 months were analyzed. Results The effect of complete closure of palpebral fissure was attained in all of the postoperative eyes and the visual acuity was increased in eleven eyes, remained no change in two eyes and decreased in one eye. The mean value of the recession of exophthalmic eyes after operation was mean 4 0 mm. Conclusion Two orbital walls decompression is an effective method for compressive optic-neuropathy in Gaves ophthalmopathy.

Objective To establish a colony of genetic idiopathic hypercalciuric rats model which can stablely descend and initially explore the mechanism of idiopathic hypercalciuric development. Methods The male and female rats with the highest 24-h urine Ca excretion and normal serum calcium,phosphorus and 1,25(OH)2D3 were chosen for inbreeding to propagate the colony until the stable hypercalcinuria was achieved in filial generation. Objective: To investigate the expression and prognostic significance of insulin-like growth factor binding protein 5 (IGFBP5) in gastric adenocarcinoma (GAC). Methods:IGFBP5 expression in tissue samples from 236 GAC patients was analyzed us-ing immunohistochemical methods. These patients had undergone surgical resection between 20003 and 2006 in Sun Yat-Sen Universi-ty Cancer Center. The relationship between IGFBP5 expression and clinicopathological factors in the 236 GAC patients was analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis. The significance of IGFBP5 in predicting the survival status of these patients was analyzed using Ka-plan-Meier survival analysis and Cox's proportional hazards regression model. Results:Immunohistochemical staining data indicated that IGFBP5 expression was significantly decreased in 159 of the total GAC cases (67.4%). Of the 62 cases with well-and moderately differentiated GAC, 31 (50%) exhibited reduced IGFBP5 expression. Of the 174 cases with poorly differentiated GAC, 128 showed re-duced IGFBP5 expression. Reduced IGFBP5 expression was also observed in female patients and in patients with tumors over 5 cm in size or with poorly differentiated tumors (P<0.05). The reduced expression of IGFBP5 was common in the tumors that were staged as T3+4a/b andⅢ/Ⅳ(P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed that the reduced expression of IGFBP5 was associated with poor prognosis in GAC patients (P<0.001). Cox regression analysis identified IGFBP5 expression as an independent prognostic factor for the overall survival of these cancer patients (HR=1.897, P=0.029). Conclusion: IGFBP5 expression is reduced in GAC tissues, and IGFBP5 independently predicts an unfavorable prognosis in GAC patients.

With the understanding of the development and pro-gress of the cancer,the research of targeted cancer drug devel-opment reaches into a new era.p53 is an important tumor sup-pressor gene,the protein coded by p53 plays a critical role in tumor suppression mainly by inducing cell cycle regulation, DNA repair and apoptosis.Nowadays,p53 becomes a relatively attractive target for anti-cancer drug development and there are some drugs targeting p53,moreover,APR-246 which targets mutant p53 is in Phase II clinical trial.In addition,it facilitates drugs discovery programmes in the challenging area of protein-protein interactions and mutant protein conformational change. The review discusses the research progress of drugs which target p53 and elucidates the characteristics and mechanisms of these compounds.

Objective:To investigate the role of miR-581 overexpression on the proliferation of human colorectal cancer cell line SW620. Methods:The expression group,colorectal cancer SW620 cells were transfected with recombinant lentivirus vector ( LV-miR-581) and miR-581 mimics(miR-581),the negative control group were transfected with negative control lentiviral vector (LV-GFP) and negative control mimics (vector). The mRNA expression of miR-581 was identified by qRT-PCR. Proliferation of the cells were detected by CCK8 assary and colony forming assary. Results:The expression of miR-581 at mRNA significantly increased in LV-miR-581 group compared with control groups were detected by qRT-PCR ( P<0. 05 ) . Up-regulation of miR-581 markedly enhanced human colorectal cancer SW620 cells proliferation than those in the cells transfected with control vector ( P<0. 05 ) . Conclusion: Forced expression of miR-581 accelerates the proliferation of colorectal cancer SW620 cells.

Objective To analyse the clinic characteristics of adenovirus pneumonia in children and have a good understanding of the clinical features of adenovirus pneumonia in children .Methods The clinical data of 99 cases with adenovirus pneumonia during January 2011 to June 2013 were reviewed .Clinical manifestation ,auxiliary examination and treatment were analyzed .Results All 99 patients had fever ,heat process was long and were prone to complications ,including :35 cases of respiratory failure ,27 cases of pleu-ral effusion ,11 cases of atelectasis and 52 cases of myocardial damage .Adenovirus pneumonia was easily combined with other path-ogenic infections .Streptococcus pneumoniae was the most common bacterial pathogens and respiratory viruses were the most com-mon virus .The radiographic features of chest of adenovirus pneumonia were in both lungs exudative ,and really variable .Adenovirus pneumonia in bronchoscopy showed bronchial inflammation .Treatment of adenovirus pneumonia was the comprehensive treatment . Conclusion The condition of adenovirus pneumonia is serious and the number of complications is large .Adenovirus pneumonia could easily cause secondary bacterial infection .There is no specific treatment for adenovirus pneumonia .Clinicians should pay more attention .

Objective To investigate the effects of pentobarbital sodium on compound muscle action potentials (CMAPs) in rats.Methods Ten adult Sprague-Dawley rats (5 males,5 females),aged 8 weeks,weighing 240-260 g,were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 1％ pentobarbital sodium 40 mg/kg.The sciatic nerve was stimulated (intensity 0.50,0.55 and 0.60 V,wave length 0.05 ms,frequency 10 Hz) starting from 8 min after administration.Each intensity was repeated three times at 1 s interval.The stimulation mentioned above was repeated every 5 min.CMAPs from the gastrocnemius muscle were recorded starting from 8 min after administration (T1) and then were recorded every 5 min for 9 times (T2-10),Results The peak value of CMAP was significantly decreased at T3-5 when the intensity was 0.50,0.55 and 0.60 V,and CMAP latency was significantly prolonged at T3-6 when the intensity was 0.50 V,and at T4,5 when the intensity was 0.55 and 0.60 V as compared with those at T1 ( P ＜ 0.05 or 0.01 ).Conclusion Pentobarbital sodium can inhibit CMAPs in rats.

Objective To investigate meclical ethits level of first-year mecdical stuclents in Guangzhou medical college,which contributes to provide guidance of medical ethics education for interns. Methods To investigate 183 cases of first-year medical students. They were asked to deal with a case of 'a vagrant needed emergency treatment'. The statistics datum were classified according to 'norms of medical ethics and ways of implementation made by the Ministry of Health for medical staff'.Results 99.45% of them thought they should immediately save patients' live;but less than 28.96%thought of using cheap and fine medicines;only 38.80% mentioned the patients' mood. And there was no significant difference between boys and girls(P>0.05). Conclusion Medical students have already established a 'life-saving' awareness when they are freshman, but they also need to learn how to put ethics into practice.

Objective To study the positive influence of a standard trauma system on the care of severely injured patients.Methods The severely injured patients (NISS≥16 points)were divided into study group ( in 2006-2008,after the establishment of trauma center in our hospital) and control group (in 2001-2005,before the establishment of trauma center),which was bound by the establishment of the trauma center in our hospital in January 2006.The injury severity,care and outcomes were recorded by using China Trauma Database and changes in efficiency and quality of injury care were compared.Results The study group (66 patients) and control group (260 patients) with NISS of (20.59 ±4.63)points and (20.57 ± 5.38 ) points respectively,were similar in the distribution of severity ( P ＞ 0.05 ).The emergency care time was (0.33 ± 0.03) hour in the study group,which was significantly shortened compared with (0.57 ±0.35 ) hours in the control group (P ＜ 0.01 ).The length of hospital stay was (27.64 ±29.01 ) days in the study group,which was shorter than (30.84 ± 32.87 ) days in the control group (P ＞ 0.05 ),while the length of ICU stay was (2.98 ± 5.77 ) days in the study group,longer than (2.65 ± 7.00) days in the control group (P ＞ 0.05 ).The recovery rate was significantly increased from 76.5％ to 87.9％ (P ＜0.05) and mortality was significantly decreased from 20.8％ to 9.1％ (P ＜0.05).Conclusion The study indicates that the standard first aid model can notably improve the trauma care in our hospital.

Objective:To investigate the effects of Gab2 overexpression on the proliferation and migration of human colorectal cancer cell line SW480.Methods: The experimental group (LV-Gab2-GFP group),colorectal cancer SW480 cells were transfected with recombinant lentivirus vector (LV-Gab2-GFP),the negative control group was transfected with negative control lentiviral vector ( LV-GFP) ,and the blank control group without any treatment.The mRNA and protein expression of Gab 2 in cells were identified by RT-PCR and Western blot respectively.Proliferation of the cells was detected by CCK-8 colorimeter and colony forming assay.Wound-healing assay was used to determine the cells migration .Results: RT-PCR and Western blot demonstrated that Gab 2 mRNA and protein expression significantly increased in LV-Gab2-GFP group compared with control groups;overexpression of Gab2 markedly enhanced human colorectal cancer SW 480 cells proliferation and migration compared with control groups .Conclusion:Overexpression of Gab2 accelerates human colorectal cancer SW 480 cells proliferation and migration.
