Objective To analyze the clinical effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy( oxaliplatin combined with S-1) in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer, and to detect its influence on expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2).Methods A total of 70 patients with advanced gastric cancer were randomly divided into research group ( n=35 ) and control group ( n=35 ) .The patients in the control group were given surgery treatment and general drug chemotherapy, while the patients in the research group were given the neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the basis of the control group. The incidence of cancer recurrence and the expressions of MMP-2,VEGF of the two groups were observed. Results In the research group, the expressions of MMP-2 or VEGF were significantly different before and after chemotherapy(χ2 =10.03,χ2 =9.11,all P<0.01). The 3-year survival rate in the research group(71.43%) was significantly higher than 45.71% in the control group, there was significant difference(χ2 =11.70,P<0.05).Conclusion Neoadjuvant chemotherapy can reduce the expressions of MMP-2 and VEGF in tumor tissues, indicates that it may play an important role in patients with advanced gastric cancer and can be used in clinic.

HMGR and DXR are key enzymes of terpenoids biosynthesis pathway. This study was aimed to discuss the effects of overexpression of HMGR and DXR from A momum villosum Lour. on the biosynthesis of terpenoids in transgenic tobacco. The real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was used to analyze the expression level of AvHMGR and AvDXR. Then, enzyme activities of HMGR and DXR were determined by spectrometer using the substrate-specific method. Different terpenoids were detected by GC-MS. The results showed that individual overex-pression of HMGR/DXR can inhibit the enzyme activities of HMGR and DXR but promote the biosynthesis of men-thene, neophytediene, cembrenene and sterol. The co-overexpression of HMGR and DXR had different enzyme activ-ities and can promote the biosynthesis of sterol and phytol, but inhibit the biosynthesis of neophytadiene. It was con-cluded that the overexpression of HMGR and DXR had diverse effects when regulating the biosynthesis of different terpenoids. This study provided the basis for using A vHMGR and A vDXR to regulate the metabolism of terpenoids.

Objective To study the epidemiology of mycoplasma pneumonia (MP) infection in children and its relationship to meteorological conditions in Guilin. Methods Total of 1 342 hospitalized children with respiratory tract infections from Janu-ary 2011 to December 2012 were recruited, and the serum levels of mycoplasma pneumoniae antibody Ig (MP-Ig) were measured. Meanwhile, monthly meteorological conditions were collected. The relationships between the MP-Ig detection rates and meteoro-logical conditions were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. Results The total detection rate of MP-Ig was 23.2%with positive rates as 5.51%, 28.99%, 37.31%and 44.97%for 0-1, 1-3, 3-6 and>6 year-old groups respectively (P<0.01). The positive rate of female was higher than that of male with signiifcant difference (30.08%vs 19.05%, P<0.01). The positive rate of spring, summer, autumn and winter were 18.89%, 17.39%, 23.83%and 33.05%individually (P<0.01). Negative correlation was found be-tween detection rate of MP-Ig and monthly mean air temperature (P=0.001). Conclusion MP is one of the commonest pathogens of respiratory tract infection in children and mostly seen in elder female children with a higher incidence in winter. The main me-teorological factor is the low temperature that affects MP prevalence.

Objective To investigate the application effect of case-based teaching versus traditional teaching in the optional course of maternal and child nutrition for medical undergraduates. Methods The students who completed the course through the traditional teaching method in 2016 were enrolled as control group, and those who completed the course through the case-based teaching method in 2017 were enrolled as experimental group. In the process of teaching, the teachers in the experimental group needed to write cases, prepare lessons collectively, give guidance and inspiration, and summarize after class.During the learning process, the students in the experimental group needed to collect information before class and perform role play, group discussion, and intergroup communication about the case during class. After the course ended,a questionnaire for nutrition during pregnancy preparation, pregnancy, and lactation, breastfeeding, and complementary feeding was developed for assessment. With sex and grade as related factors,SPSS 18.0 was used for the chi-square test of two sample rates according to knowledge points, and the correct rate of each item was analyzed. Results A total of 107 valid questionnaires were collected from the control group, and 109 valid questionnaires were collected from the experimental group. For the questions on the knowledge of maternal and child nutrition, the experimental group had slightly higher correct rates than the control group (all P>0.05).For the questions on the comprehension and practical application of the knowledge of maternal and child nutrition, the experimental group had significantly higher correct rates than the control group (all P<0.05).Further stratified analysis based on sex and grade showed that the experimental group had higher correct rates than the control group. Conclusion Compared with traditional teaching,case-based teaching may not have advantages in enhancing students' memorizing ability, but it can make it easier for students to understand the theoretical knowledge of matemal and child nutrition and master the practical application of such knowledge.
