A remarkabale inhibitory activity was exhibited by the aqueous extract from Rhizoma smilacisglabrae(RSG) against both picryl chloride(PC)- induced contact dermatitis and sheep red bloodcells (SRBC)- induced footpad reaction.The effect of RSG was displayed more distinctlywheng given after than before the 2nd antigen challenge.RSG also showed a marked anti-in-flammatory activity against xylene- induced ear and egg whiteinduced footpad edema.Addi-tionally,RSG did not show a potable influence on IgM- and IgG-PFC counts against SRBC inmice.An increase but not decrease in serum hemolysin level,however,was observed in both groupsof RSG,peralleled with the finding that hemolytic plaques in PFC test were obviously biggerthan those in control.These results suggest that RSG has a selective activity to suppress the cellularimmune response without inhibiting the humoral immune response.The suppression to cellular im-munity by RSG may be presented mainly through affecting the inflammatory process after lym-phokine release.

Comparative analysis of characteristic of species and esterase-isoenzyme of isolates of Polyporus umbel-latus from different regions were processed. The results indicated that isolates of Jizhaoling ( Z) and Zhushiling (ZJ) have significant differences in characteristic, and enzymatic band types of the two species also have significant differences. The homology at genetics between the two isolates is 0% , and consanguinity between the two i-solates is the farthest.

Objective To investigate the effects of total flavonoids in Gingko Biloba on glucose and lipid metabolism and liver function in rats with insulin resistance. Methods Forty SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group,model group,total flavonoids in Gingko Biloba group and rosiglitazone group(positive drug control group)(n=10).Models of insulin resistance were established by high glucose and high fat diet in model group,total flavonoids in Gingko Biloba group and rosiglitazone group.After treatment for 12 weeks,serum glucose,serum lipids,and parameters of insulin resistance,liver function and anti-oxidation capability were detected in each group,and histologic observations of liver tissues were conducted with adipose staining. Objective To investigate the effect and its significance of low-dose insulin on Nmethyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) level and its downstream signaling of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and the extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK,p44/42MAPK) in streptozotocininduced diabetic rats.Methods Ten-week-old male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:control group,diabetic group and insulin-treated diabetes group.Diabetes was induced by streptozocin (STZ,60mg/kg) injected intraperitoneally.Two weeks after STZ injection,insulin glargine (92u/day for 8 weeks) was subcutaneously injected in the insulin-treated diabetes group.Then,the rat lumbar spinal cords were collected.The protein levels of phospho-Insulin receptor substrate 1 (P-IRS1),phospho-NMDAR NR1 subunit (P-NR1),P-JNK and P-p44/42MAPK were evaluated by Western blotting.One week before the terminal of the study,paw thermal response latency was measured in all groups.Results Blood glucose levels were tremendously high in both the diabetic group and insulintreated diabetes group.Compared with the control group,paw thermal response latency was markedly shortened in the diabetic group (P＜ 0.001) and the insulin-treated diabetes group (P＜ 0.001),and the alteration was more pronounced in the diabetic group (P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the protein levels of P-IRS1,P-NR1,P-JNK and P-p44/42MAPK were increased by 79.2％,35.1％,47.6 ％,64.3 ％ and 87.6 ％,respectively in diabetic group and 49.4 ％,19.1％,16.5 ％,31.8％ and 39.9％,respectively in insulin-treated diabetes group (all P＜0.001 or 0.05).In comparison with diabetic group,the increased amplitudes of above 4 parameters were decreased by 29.8％,16.0％,31.2％,32.5％ and 47.7％ respectively in the insulin-treated diabetes group (all P＜0.05).Conclusions NMDAR and its downstream signals,such as JNK and p42/44MARK,are involved in the pathogenesis of painful diabetic neuropathy.Although it could not efficiently control the blood glucose level,low-dose insulin treatment may partly inhibit the occurrence of thermal hyperalgesia through inhibiting NMDAR signal pathway.

Objective To investigate the respiratory burst function of neutrophils in very low birth weight infants (VLBWI).Methods Twenty two VLBWI was divided into two groups:neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS) and non NRDS (11 in each).The respiratory burst function of neutrophils in the peripheral blood of VLBWI within 48 hours after birth was determined using the flow cytometrydihydrorhodamine 1,2,3 method before and after the chemical stimulation of phorbol-12-myrismte 14 acetate (PMA),and the gp91Phox was also measured in resting neutrophils by flow cytometry.Twenty healthy term neonates served as controls.Mann-Whitney U test was used for statistical analysis.Results Before the stimulation of PMA,the percentage of activated neutrophils of VLBWI [(49.10±20.19) ％] producing a respiratory burst was higher than that of term neonates [(18.73 ±6.81) ％] (Z--4.911,P=0.000),however,after the stimulation of PMA,the percentage of activated neutrophils of VLBWI [(96.58 ± 3.44) ％] was lower than that of term neonates [(99.20±0.62) ％] (Z--3.186,P=0.001),and the stimulation index (SI) of VLBWI (171.40 ± 103.35) was lower than that of term neonates (306.30 ± 138.47),with significant difference (Z=-3.413,P=0.001).The geometric mean of gp91Phox in VLBWI (21.66± 19.87) was higher compared with term neonates (19.60±8.03),however,the difference was not significant (P=0.350).The percentage of neutrophils that expressed gp91Phox [(56.11 ± 29.40) ％] was lower in VLBWI than that in term neonates [(80.14± 14.87) ％],with significant difference (Z=-2.374,P=0.018).Before the stimulation of PMA,the percentage of activated neutrophils of VLBWI with NRDS (63.40± 16.45) ％] was higher than that of VLBWI without NRDS [(34.80± 11.65) ％],with significant difference (Z=-3.382,P=0.001),the SI of VLBWI with NRDS (129.46 ± 75.36) was significantly lower than that of VLBWI without NRDS (213.35 ± 113.49) (Z=-2.331,P=0.020).Conclusions Neutrophils producing a respiratory burst in both VLBWI and term neonates are active without stimulation of PMA,while the phenomenon is more obvious in VLBWI.Neutrophils in VLBWI and term infants can be activated by the stimulation of PMA,and express gp91Phox.The activation and gp91Phox expression of neutrophils in VLBWI with NRDS tend to be lower than those in VLBWI without NRDS.

Tongluo Xingnao effervescent tablet (TLXNET) is a patented prescription, which comes from modified Xionggui decoction and can improve cognitive function. However, its effect on the urine metabolites and anti-dementia mechanism in the dementia model rats induced by hippocampal injection with Aβ25-35 remains unclear. The experiment focused on the changes in trajectory and inter-relationship among the urinary metabolite of rats in the blank group, Aβ25-35 hippocampal injection dementia model group and the TLXNET intervention group, in order to determine theirs characteristic metabolic markers and explain the anti-dementia effect of TLX-NET base on the change of metabolic trajectory of these bio-markers. According to the experimental results, 5, 6-indolequinone, 4-hydroxyphenyl pyruvic acid (4-HPPA), cortisol and 3-thiosulfate lactic were preliminarily identified as the characteristic metabolic markers. They mainly participate in dopamine system, glucocorticoids and energy metabolic pathways. TLXNET can apparently downregulate the disturbances of metabolic trajectory of the four bio-markers. The experiment indicates that the dementia model induced by injecting Aβ25-3 into hippocampus has its characteristic endogenous metabolic markers in urine, and ELXNET can ameliorate dementia by down-regulating the disturbances of metabolic trajectory.

Objective To investigate the detection and clinical significance of thrombus molecular markers in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Methods We collected the blood specimens of 60 patients with DLBCL, involving 23 cases in the initial treatment group, 24 cases in the remission group and 13 cases in the non-remission group, 23 cases in the thrombus group and 37 cases in the non-thrombus group. We selected 46 healthy people in the same period as the control group. The levels of thrombomodulin (TM), plasmin-α2 plasmin inhibitor complex (PIC), tissue plasminogen activator-plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 complex (t-PAIC) and thrombin-antithrombin Ⅲ complex (TAT) in plasma were detected by chemical immunoassay, and the levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in serum was detected by automatic biochemical analyzer. We analyzed the differences of thrombus molecular markers among groups and prognostic factors. Results The levels of TM and PIC in plasma of lymphoma patients were higher than those in health control group (P < 0.05). The levels of TM and PIC in the initial treatment and non-remission groups were significantly higher than those in the remission group (P < 0.05). The levels of TM, PIC and TAT in thrombus group were higher than those in non-thrombus group (P < 0.05). TM and PIC levels in plasma were closely related to the prognosis of DLBCL patients. PIC was an independent prognostic factor (P < 0.001). TM and PIC levels were correlated with LDH prognostic indicators in lymphoma patients. Conclusion TM and PIC levels in plasma are significantly increased in DLBCL patients. They are expected to be the indicators for effectiveness and prognosis of DLBCL patients.
