4.A STUDY ON THE SERUM ?-CAROTENE CONTENTS OF MALIGNANT CANCER PATIENTS
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(03):-
Serum ?-carotene contents of both the healthy adults and the patients with malignant tumour diagnosed by pathology were measured in Shenyang city. It was found that the levels of ?-carotene in the tumour group were obviously lower than those of the healthy adults (p
5.Current Situation of Modified Constraint-induced Movement Therapy Used in Children with Hemiplegia (review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2014;(8):745-748
Hemiplegia is a common type of physical disability in children with brain damage. For many kinds of reasons, the outcome of rehabilitation of the affected upper limb is not good enough, especially in the affected hand. Recently, many studies engaged in the modified Constraint-induced Movement Therapy (mCIMT) to explore the child-friendly way of restraint to improve hand function in hemiplegic children, and were summarized in this paper.
6.The general public’s ability to operate automated external defibrillator: A controlled simulation study
World Journal of Emergency Medicine 2020;11(4):238-245
BACKGROUND: Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) enable laypeople to provide early defibrillations to patients undergoing cardiac arrest, but scant information is available on the general public’s ability to use AEDs. This study assessed the ability of laypeople to operate AEDs, the effect of a 15-minute training, and whether skills differed by age.
METHODS: From May 1 to December 31, 2018, a prospective simulation study was conducted with 94 laypeople aged 18-65 years (32 aged 18-24 years, 34 aged 25-54 years, and 28 aged 55-65 years) with no prior AED training. The participants’ AED skills were assessed individually pre-training, post-training, and at a three-month follow-up using a simulated cardiac arrest scenario. The critical actions and time intervals were evaluated during the AED operating process.
RESULTS: Only 14 (14.9%) participants (eight aged 18-24 years, four aged 25-54 years, and two aged 55-65 years) successfully delivered defibrillations before training. AED operation errors were more likely to occur among the participants aged 55-65 years than among other age groups. After training, the proportion of successful defibrillations increased significantly (18-24 years old: 25.0% vs. 71.9%, P<0.01; 25-54 years old: 11.8% vs. 70.6%, P<0.01; 55-65 years old: 7.1% vs. 67.9%, P<0.01). After three months, 26.1% of the participants aged 55-65 years successfully delivered defibrillations, which was significantly lower than that of participants aged 18-24 years (54.8%) and 25-54 years (64.3%) (P=0.02). There were no differences in time measures among three age groups in each test.
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of untrained laypeople cannot effectively operate AEDs. More frequent training and refresher courses are crucial to improve AED skills.
7.Role of CT scan in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary calculus
International Journal of Surgery 2016;43(9):645-648
Urinary calculus is a common disease of urinary system. With the improvement of people's living standard, the incidence rate of urinary calculus increased year by year.Compared with other methods, spiral CT has a great advantage in the diagnosis of urinary calculus. The current commonly used examinations including spiral CT plain scan, low dose spiral CT scan,CT urography, and dual source dual energy CT imaging. The advantages and characteristics of different types of CT are analyzed and compared, which is helpful for clinicians to choose the most proper examination,to make the most of the advantages of various checks,so as to improve the accuracy of diagnosis and effectiveness of treatment.
8.The changes of NO concentration in focal cerebral ischemic tissues during the differ- ent process of cerebral ischemia and reperfusion of rats
Journal of Clinical Neurology 1997;0(06):-
The aim of our study wasto investigated the changesof NO concentration in the ischemic and reperfutional brain tissues and the relationship between the NO and brain damage. The animal models of middle cerebral artery occlusion were established by suture method. The changesof NO concentration were researched with method of Hb O2 -NO during the permanent ischemia and ischemia/ reperfusion. The results showed that the NO level in the injured brain tissue after3hours of ischemia was increased. After reperfusion, the NO level increased progressively, but NO level showed decreased and then increased during the permanent ischemia.Although there wasa decrease of NO level at7days after ischemia and reperfusion, but the NO level was higher than that of preischemia. It indicated that the changes of NO concentration during the different process of cerebral ischemia and reperfu- sion are related to the differentisoform of NOS,which have respective characteristic forsyn- thesizing NO in biochemistry, and deal with the cerebral ischemic and reperfusional injury.

Chinese Traditional Patent Medicine 1992;0(10):-
AIM: To establish the determination for camphor, menthol, synthetic borneol, and methyl salicylate in four kinds of TCM adhesive plasters by GC. METHODS: The internal standard method was employed. Naphthalene, the internal standard, was added to the sample before treatment. The sample solution was prepared by distillation with essential oil collector. The GC system consisted of glass column, 10% PEG 20M as the stationary phase, nitrogen as the carrier gas, column temperature at 130℃, and FID as the detector. RESULTS: Camphor, menthol, synthetic borneol(borneol and isoborneol), and methyl salicylate in 6 lots of samples and naphthalene have been separated well under the chromatographic condition. In the methodology study on Fengshi Zhitong Adhesive Plasters, the average recovery of camphor, menthol, synthetic borneol, and methyl salicylate were 95.54%( RSD =1.6%), 96.90%( RSD =2.2%), 97.30%( RSD =1.4%), and 96.48%( RSD =2.8%), respectively. CONCLUSION: The method is sensitive, accurate and reproducible, and can be used to control the quality of the four kinds of preparations.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(02):-
Objective: To evaluate the nutritional markers in peritoneal dialysis patients. Methods: We examined SGA, dietary diaries, direct anthropometry, biochemical indices in 90 continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients. Then, the normalized protein equivalent of total nitrogen appearance (nPNA), lean body mass (LBM) and %LBM were calculated. Results: These patients were classified to three nutritional categories based on SGA (i.e. normal nutrition, mild to moderate malnutrition, severe malnutrition). The dietary protein intake(DPI), dietary energy intake(DEI), serum albumin(Alb), nPNA, LBM and %LBM were significantly different among three groups (P
