Objective To analysis of incidence and mortality of prostate cancer in urban Guangzhou during 2000-2011 and discuss the trends.Methods The incidence and mortality rates were calculated by analyzing data obtained from Guangzhou Cancer Registration Center.Standardized rates were calculated using the Segi's World Standard Population.According to the characters of morbidity and mortality,ages were divided into three groups of 0-64,65-74 and ≥ 75 years.The average annual percentage change (AAPC) were calculated by Jointpoint Regression Program 4.0.4.Results Altogether 3 029 new cases of prostate cancer and 964 related deaths were registered between 2000 and 2011.The AAPC was 10.01％ (95％ CI:6.00％-14.20％) in crude incidence rate and 8.04％ (95％ CI:6.20％-9.90％) in crude mortality rate,resulting in a total increase of 287.76％ (from 4.82 to 18.69 per 100 000 population) in incidence and 142.90％ (from 2.41 to 5.86 per 100000 population) over the 12 years.There was no significant difference in both standardized incidence and mortality change.The AAPC was 11.51％ (95％ CI:6.00％-17.30％) in 0-64 age incidence rate (resulting in increase of 315.87％ and 1.99 per 100,000 population),4.19％ (95％ CI:0.30％-8.20％) in 65-74 age incidence rate (resulting in increase of 92.72％ and 45.82 per 100 000 population) and 2.77％ (95％CI:-1.00％-6.70％) in ≥75 age incidence rate (resulting in increase of 42.84％ and 63.13 per 100 000 population).The age incidence rate increase was the largest in the ≥ 75 age group,but fastest in the younger group.The age mortality trend was only statistically significant in 0-64 age group,AAPC was 6.25％ (95％ CI:0.30％-12.60％).Conclusions The incidence and mortality rates of Guangzhou increased in a fast rate.The prevention and control of prostate cancer should be strengthened.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the main death causes among infants in Guangzhou in 2010-2013 and to provide an objective and scientific basis for risk communication of public health emergencies in the future.

METHODSDescriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze the death causes among infants reported in Guangzhou from the National Death Registration Reporting Information System. The death causes among infants were classified by the 10th international classification of diseases (ICD-10). The constitution and rank order of death causes among infants were analyzed according to the underlying causes of deaths.

RESULTSA total of 4 880 cases of infant deaths were reported in Guangzhou from 2010 to 2013 and infant deaths in floating population were 1.8 (3 135/1 745) times of registered population. The deaths of male infants were 1.73 (3 094/1 786) times of female infants. The neonatal group accounted for 52.32% (2 553/4 880) of total infant deaths and early neonatal group accounted for 64.86% (1 656/2 553) of total neonatal deaths. The top five causes of infant deaths followed by perinatal diseases, congenital malformations, respiratory diseases (mainly pneumonia), accidental deaths and communicable diseases. The mortality ratios were respectively 44.12% (2 153 cases) , 24.73% (1 207 cases), 6.86% (335 cases), 3.48% (170 cases), 3.01% (147 cases) , and no vaccine-related death case was reported.

CONCLUSIONThe primary cause of infant deaths in Guangzhou 2010-2013 was perinatal diseases.

Objective:To explore the relationship of sleep quality and sleep duration with hypertension among adults aged 30-79 years old in Guangzhou.Methods:According to multi-stage stratified cluster sampling, 12 747 residents aged 30-79 years old were sampled and surveyed in Guangzhou from January 2018 to March 2019. Data on general demographic characteristics, sleep quality, sleep duration and hypertension were collected through questionnaire survey, the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and physical examination. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to analyze the putative association between sleep quality, sleep duration and hypertension. Restrictive cubic spline curve was used to draw the dose-response relationship curve between sleep quality, sleep time and hypertension.Results:The mean age of the subjects was (52.68±12.17) years, the prevalence of hypertension was 36.6% (4 664/12 747), the average score of PSQI was (4.70±2.88), and the average sleep time was (7.00±1.32) hours. The prevalence of hypertension was positively associated with the PSQI score. Compared to the subjects with a score less than 3, OR (95% CI) of hypertension with a PSQI score of 3-5, 5-8, ≥9 were 1.14 (1.02-1.27), 1.17 (1.03-1.34), 1.41 (1.21-1.64), respectively. The relationship between sleep duration and hypertension appeared U-shaped. Compared with 6 to 8 hours sleep duration, both sleep duration<6 hours with OR(95% CI) of 1.27(1.12-1.43) or >8 hours with OR(95% CI) of 1.20(1.05-1.38) was associated with hypertension. Conclusion:Both poor sleep quality, longer or shorter sleep duration were responsible for increased risk of cognitive impairment in older Chinese.
