Objective To investigate the species composition and quantitative dynamic state of rodent and parasitic flea in Huairou District of Beijing City, and to carry out serologic monitoring of animal plague. Methods Rodent density was investigated at different habitats in eight villages and towns between 2009 and 2011.Serum samples from captured rodents were detected by indirect hemagglutination test, and genotypes of collected parasitic fleas were identified. Results A total of 709 rodents which belong to eight different kinds were captured with a rodent density of 2.52% (83/3 300),and Rattus niviventer and Apodemus peninsulae were dominant species, acounted for 46.4% (329/709) and 18.1%(128/709),respctively.Five hundred and sixty-three serum samples of rodents were tested by plague indirect hemagglutination, and all of them were plague antibody negative. Two hundred fleas were checked with a flea infected rate of 29.63% (48/162),and a flea index of 1.23; Paraceras crispus and Leptopsylla pavlovskii were dominant flea species,a total of 30 and 27,respectively.Conclusion Some environment conditions are suitable for rodents survival, even though there is no sign of animal plague epidemic.

Objective To explore specimen sampling for microbial culture in ICU patients with documented infections in order to offer clinical evidence for improving the rational use of antibiotics. Methods Patients with documented infection on the first day after admission into ICU and discharged from ICU from July to December 2012 and from July to December 2013 were enrolled in the study.Clinical data including presence or absence of infection, initial antimicrobial therapy, microorganism specimen sampling and culture were retrospectively analyzed. Results Of 841 patients discharged from ICU,443 had evidence of infections and received antimicrobial therapy on the admission day,and only 30 (6.8%) of them had microbiological detection results prior to treatment. There were microbial specimens available at infection sites on the admission day in 369 cases, and 360 cases (97.6%) of them were sampled in the first three days after ICU admission, while only 119 cases (33.1%) were sampled before the first dose of antimicrobial therapy.Specimens sampled were sputum (56.4%) in the majority, followed by the blood (17.4%).Further analysis of 269 infected patients receiving initial broad-spectrum antimicrobial therapy also showed that only 33.5% cases were sampled before the first dose of broad-spectrum antimicrobial administration. The positive isolation rate of multi-drug resistant isolates including A.baumannii,S.maltophilia and B.cepacia from specimens sampled after first dose of initial broad-spectrum antimicrobial therapy were significantly higher than those sampled before antimicrobial therapy,P < 0.05.There was no significant difference in isolation rate of Staph.aureus and Enterobacteriaceae between samples obtained before and after first dose of initial broad-spectrum antimicrobial therapy. Conclusions Few evidence of pathogenic microorganisms was available before initial antimicrobial therapy in ICU patients.Although sampling rate of microbial specimens is high, the most of them are sampled after the first dose of antimicrobial administration, and the patentially contaminated specimens such as sputum in predominance, obviously decrease the reliability of authentic results obtained from microorganism culture.

Objective To investigate PSP on bone microstructures,Ca,P,OPG and RANKL of osteoporotic rat model. Methods Thirty female rats randomly divided into five groups:Sham,OVX,H-,M-,L-PSP.Sham and OVX were irrigated stomachsaline;PSP solution was gavaged to other groups. After 8-week,bone microstructures of tibial metaphyseal,Ca,P,OPG and RANKL were measured. Results Body weight,Ca,P,RANKL,Tb.Sp of OVX were significantly increased compared to Sham,OPG,BV/TV,Tb.Th,Tb.N decreased.Body weight of H-,M-PSP,Ca and Tb.Sp of PSP,P and RANKL in H-PSP were decreased compared to OVX,OPG in H-,M-PSP,BV/TV,Tb.Th,Tb.N of PSP group increased. The differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion PSP prevents osteoporosis by improving the microstructure of trabecular bone, reducing bone turnover, increasing OPG and reducing RANKL expression.

Objective:
To investigate the therapeutic and immunomodulatory effects of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) on adjuvant arthritis(AA) rats.
Methods:
Twenty-four male Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats were established with AA by complete Freund's adjuvant method. They were randomly divided into model group and hUC-MSCs group (2×106 cells/mL, 5×106 cells/mL, tail vein injection), and the Yisaipu group (2.8mg/kg, subcutaneous injection), 6 rats in each group.Another 6 male SD rats were used as the control group. After the model was established, the body weight and paw volume were recorded weekly, the whole body score and the arthritis index score were calculated, and the joint swelling number was calculated. The animals were sacrificed after d35, the weight of thymus and spleen were weighed, and the corresponding index was calculated, the histopathological changes of the ankle joint were observed by HE staining. The percentages of CD4+ CD44+ T cell and CD4+ CD62L+ T cell were detected by flow cytometry. The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β in the serum of AA rats were detected by ELISA.
Results:
hUC-MSCs relieved paw volume, the whole body score and arthritis index score, and the joint swelling number in AA rats (
