Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus moxibustion at Ciliao (BL 32) for primary dysmenorrhea (PD) due to cold-dampness. Methods:A total of 58 cases with PD due to cold-dampness were randomly allocated into an observation group (n=29) and a control group (n=29). Patients in the observation group were treated with acupuncture and suspended moxibustion at Ciliao (BL 32), whereas patients in the control group were treated with routine acupuncture alone. After three courses of treatment, the clinical efficacy was evaluated and compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the symptom scores were significantly reduced in both groups (P<0.05), but there were no significant between-group differences in clinical efficacy and symptom scores (P>0.05). Conclusion: With fewer points and less pain, acupuncture-moxibustion at Ciliao (BL 32) can obtain similar effect as routine acupuncture therapy for PD due to cold-dampness.

Objective To detect the expression of p16 and discuss the significance in genesis and development of cervical cancer. Methods FQ-PCR method was used to detect the expression levels of p16 mRNA in cervical cancer(CC),cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN),and normal tissues. And in situ hybridization was used to detect HR-HPV in these tissues. Results The expres-sion levels of p16 were 0.79±0.34,0.70±0.36,0.26±0.21 in CC,CIN and normal cervical tissues, respectively. The difference was significant (P <0.05).The expression level of p16 was significantly associated with FIGO stage (P <0.05),but it showed no significant relationship with age, tumor size, cell differential degree and lymphoid node metastasis (P >0.05).The expression level of p16 in HR-HPV positive cases was significantly higher than that in HR-HPV negative cases (P <0.05).Conclusion p16 shows high expression level in cervical cancer, which is closely related to the infection of HR-HPV infection. It suggests that the high ex-pression of p16 play an important role in genesis and development of cervical cancer.

BACKGROUND:For severe thoracolumbar compression fracture (>1/3 compression), ideal therapeutic method is minimal y invasive internal fixation, which has good biomechanical functions. Moreover, bone graft is reliable. Injured vertebra reduction and bone graft stability achieved. Motor unit of spinal column and normal physiological function were retained, resulting in lessening nearby segmental degeneration.
OBJECTIVE:To discuss the design of single vertebrae internal fixation system and evaluate its biomechanical performance which apply to treat thoracolumbar compression fracture by endoscope.
METHODS:A brand-new single vertebrae internal fixation system was designed in accordance with data of anatomic measurement of adult thoracolumbar vertebra. Six fresh adult corpse specimens were prepared to produce models of L 1 compression fracture, and assigned to control group, fracture injury group, single vertebrae internal fixation system group, AF reduction internal fixation group and anterior plate internal fixation group.Three-dimensional movement range experiments were conducted separately.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The biomechanical comparison showed that there was no significant difference in three-dimensional range of motion among single vertebrae internal fixation system group (anteflexion, left and right lateroflexion), AF reduction internal fixation group and anterior plate internal fixation group (P>0.05). However, range of motion significantly increased at backward extension, left and right rotation (P<0.05). Results suggested that the design of single vertebrae internal fixation system was novel and the system had good biomechanical performance at anteflexion, left and right lateroflexion. However, it needs to be improved in which lacks of stability of extension and rotation.

To evaluate the feasibility, safety and efficacy of percutaneous stent implantation for treating left main coronary artery (LMCA) stenosis. Methods Consecutive patients with unprotected left main coronary artery disease treated by stent-based percutaneous intervention (PCI) at 6 medical centers in China were enrolled. Procedural data and clinical outcomes were obtained from all patients. Results From January 2001 to December 2004, 138 patients (79 males and 59 females; mean age: 69.7±5.8 years)underwent PCI for LMCA stenosis. Bare metal stents (BMS) were implanted in 51 patients with non-bifurcational lesions and in 5 patients with bifurcational lesions from January of 2001 to June of 2003 (BMS group);. Drug eluting stents (DES) were used unselectively to cover both bifurcational and non-bifurcational lesions in 86 patients from July of 2003 to December of 2004 (DES group). Procedural success rate of the 138 cases was 98% (135/138). One patient (0.7%) with bifurcation lesion who was treated with DES died from severe heart failure 2 weeks after the procedure. During a mean follow up period of 21.3 ± 5.6 months, one patient died from renal failure, one from sudden cardiac death, 4 underwent target lesion revascularization (TLR) in the BMS group, which all occurred in patients with bifurcational lesions; whereas in the DES group no deaths occurred and only one patient with bifurcational lesion had TLR. Conclusions (1) PCI is feasible and relatively safe to treat unprotected left main coronary artery disease in elderly patients at medical centers with experienced professionals. (2) BMS and DES have similar immediate and long-term efficacy in the treatment of ostium and shaft lesions of the LMCA. (3) DES are strongly suggested in the therapy of distal bifurcation lesion of unprotected LMCA.

Objective:To explore the clinical characteristics and related socio-demographic factors of schizo-phrenia patients with different ages of onset. Methods:Totally 2 016 patients with schizophrenia aged 15 to 70 were selected according to the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Fifth Edition. All of the patients were interviewed by psychiatrists using the Mini International Neuropsy-chiatric Interview to diagnose schizophrenia,Clinical-Rated Dimensions of Psychosis Symptom Severity(CRDPSS)and the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS)to assess symptoms. The cut-off points were 18 and 25 years old for three age groups,i.e.early onset(EOS),youth onset(YOS)and adult onset(AOS).Statistical analy-ses were performed by analysis of variance Pearson correlation analysis, and multivariate linear regression. Results:The early-onset patients had the highest total PANSS score(73.8±28.0)and CRDPSS score(11.7±5.4).Fe-male gender, high education level,Han ethnicity, early onset age,and slower onset of illness were negatively corre-lated with the total and dimension score of PANSS scale and CRDPSS scale(standardized regression coefficient:0.04-0.47),and income level and smoking were negatively correlated with those score(standardized regression coefficient:-0.04--0.14).Conclusion:Early-onset schizophrenia patients have more severe symptoms, and fe-male,high education level,early-onset disease, and chronic onset are the risk factors of symptom severity in patients with schizophrenia.
